We arrived 1hr before our reservation and we were very grateful they accommodate us. Food and service is good. To be fair, we have to go back and give it a try since we took advantage of the dinela promotion, next time we’ll choose from their menu.
We went to Celestino for lunch because of DineLA. I ordered the Pork tenderloin in rosemary sauce. The serving was so small that my friend joked that “this was fine dining”. There were 5 pieces of thumb-size pork meat and about 4 pieces of vegetables. The dessert was not any bigger. I was still hungry after eating lunch.
We went for the dine LA event and were looking forward to the prix fix menu as advertised on the dine LA web site. When we arrived the waiter did not know what we were taking about. After talking to the hostess he brought us a menu from the July 2017 event and disappeared. I approached the hostess and asked for an updated menu and she shrugged her shoulders and told me that’s what the manager gave her. I would call this a fail for dine LA.
Truly truly truly, the seafood salad is the most incredible in all of LA. On a light bed of greens sit baby octopus, calamari, and more. Also, they are very fair with their wine prices.
My husband has been here many times with very positive feedback. This was my first time.
Waiter announced specials before taking drink orders. We ordered salad/soup - it was never served. Instead they brought our main course after a considerable wait. Waiter tried to make things right with "free dessert" but when I ordered a cannoli, they charged us. Never asked us if we wanted a second drink or refilled coffee. Not sure what happened this night but quite disappointing.
We went their to take my parents out and to take part in Dine LA. The Dine LA menu was posted on the site and in their restaurant. 20 after we ordered the manager came to tell us he was not honoring the Dine LA menu because they made a mistake on the menu. He said it was 3 courses but his menu had 4 courses. We told them it was a printed menu as four courses and we came there specifically for Dine LA. He started yelling at us saying we were trying take advantage of their restaurant. We were just trying to get what we ordered but he refused to honor the menu. We decided to leave. I've never had such a rude belligerent owner speak to me that way in a restaurant . He said if we were in Italy he'd have our legs cut off for trying to take advantage of him. As a frequent restaurant goer I've been to this location many times before. I will never step foot in his restaurant again after being insulted and yelled at in front of the entire restaurant. He should have honored their mistake and made it right instead of making it our fault.
It was....alright...nothing to write home about. Food was cooked well and service was good. We had the lambshank and rabbit. If you're coming to Pasadena for one meal, I wouldnt recommend it. If you live in the area and am looking for a place to try, then go for it.
Great location for a women's day/nite out. Professional, attentive service. Easy parking. The menu had variety and the selections throughout the menu pleased diners of very different persuasions. Will definitely be returning soon to try other selections.
Even though I now live in New Mexico, Celestino is still my favorite Italian restaurant by which I measure all others. The food is consistently excellent, the waiters are well trained and old worldly and the overall experience always perfect.
We were seated on the front patio and the heater did not work. We needed to move for my wife to be comfortable.
