This was a tragedy of an evening with a client. The ambiance was atrocious, the service didn't even exist, no one paid attention and the food was bad.
Really good service and really good food
Wonderful birthday dinner for two on Mat 4, 2021. We elected to sit on the Celestino back garden patio. As a first course, we chose the Spaghetti Carbonara, which was made in the perfect Roman style. Our “secondi” was the Veal Osso Bucco, served over Saffron risotto, which was meltingly tender and came with an unctuous tomato sauce. We appreciated their willingness to split each entree Into two plates, each a lovely presentation. As the portions were generous, and the Cabonara deliciously filling, we each took home quite a bit of the Osso Bucco. To top this dinner off they allowed me to order any dessert I wanted from the menu and it was a gift from them. Plus it came with a lit candle, LOL. The price for the two very special entrées was very reasonable - around $55. All in all a perfect evening. I’m looking forward to a return trip and not waiting for another birthday to go there!
The service was beyond top notch! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Food was great! We had soup and ravioli.
Great food and great service. The atmosphere was amazing Would definitely return.
Wonderful food and fabulous service!
The service was spotty, food was good, dining room, patio, and restrooms looked a little worse for wear - lampshades askew, weeds and debris/clutter on the patio, scuff marks on the walls, etc. It just seems as if they were not ready for business after the covid shutdown.
We dined at Celestino during the Covid pandemic and asked for an outdoor table. When we got there the temperature had dropped radically, so we asked if we could be seated inside. The staff could not have been more accommodating and immediately moved us to a socially-distanced indoor table. All Covid precautions were observed scrupulously by the staff and management. Oh, and the food was excellent.
Fabulous like always!
We had booked our reservation outside. It was cold so they graciously offered us a nice table inside . The food was excellent as well as the service. We would definitely dine there again!
Celestino is one of our long-time, go-to restaurants when we want Italian food that is well prepared and served. Always fresh ingredients, home-made pasta, innovative salads, and excellent meat and fish courses. With COVID and outdoor dining, it's noisier than before, but still a great place to have dinner with friends.
It’s the best Italian food in Los Angeles county.
Worst food I have ever had
Don’t understand how it got 5 star rating on open table. u guys need to check your measuring standards
Unless it was cooks day off and dishwasher was covering for him
We enjoy the ambience from the front patio. Only downside is traffic noise from Lake Ave. Service and food are excellent.
Very good food and appropriately price for the quality and service. I had never dine there before but plan to go back to sample other item. Oso Bucco was good and the truffle gnocchi was fantastic.
What a relief! After so many months we were sitting again on the patio of our beloved restaurant! The food was like always excelent, service like always first class and thanks to our California weather, the evening was just beautiful. Thanks to the tables being in the distance from each other, we were able to take off our masks and enjoy the food and the atmosfere of the restaurant. Thank you, CELESTINO.
Food at Celestino's never disappoints. It's like taking a trip to Italy without leaving Pasadena. Delicious!
Our first time at Celestino. The food and service were both great; however, the restaurant needs updating. There are cracks in the tile and the patio garden needs cleaning and care. Cobwebs were on some of the plants and the fountain had trash in it.
The food was really delicious and service was really good.
This is the typical pre-COVID Celestino: wonderful food, mediocre service. We know they're working very hard, but waiting for food, for cocktail, and for the check takes far too long.
Wonderful evening with my little daughter! Thank you!
Delicious entrees and fantastic service!
Been here many times. The food is always fantastic and the staff always friendly.
Always enjoy celestinos!!
Classic dishes, quality food. was nice to sit outside but the walkway was a bit cramped.
We discovered the restaurant’s parking spots in the rear and sat outside in the atrium under a canopy. The food was good as we remembered from a prior visit.
mediocre food but good service Waiters should use the term sir instead of the colloquil "boss"
We have been going to Celesitino for 15 years at least and it is one of our favorite Italian restaurants.
Good food and service. Will come back for sure😊
It was great to be back dining in Pasadena and seeing some old friends at Celestino! Food and service is always great!
We love Celestino’s! Always special and food is fant
Celestino's is a favorite for us and our family. We can always count on delicious, fresh, healthy food, great service, a quiet peaceful setting for effective conversation. We are treated kindly and with respect; always met with a friendly greeting. Several of us have food restrictions and unique requests that have always been accommodated warmly.
The food came out cold and had to send it back.
They served main courses prior to clearing first courses
Will never go back
thé lamb shank was over cooked , polenta undercooked
waiter didn’t come to chk in on meal after served.
The beet salad had old or overcooked beets. Service was ok but our table was near an open door and the draft was horrible.
Our new waiter will benefit from training. He just doesn’t know better
Fussilino sp? Wasn’t as good as it was 3 weeks ago.
Swordfish had two spears of asparagus
The bread roll is a joke. Best part is that I don’t eat it-therefore save calories.
Haven’t been here in a while. Very disappointed.
What a treat to go out to dine again, though we still prefer and opted for an outdoor table. We got a lovely spot on their front patio, which had a nice view of the twinkling lights covering the trees on Lake Avenue. The food was absolutely EXCELLENT. There was four of us, three of us ordered a pasta dish while the other opted for a risotto, and everything was so delicious and perfectly cooked. My penne in vodka sauce with prosciutto was an eye-opener for me; hardly any tomato taste at all but rather a rich, slightly creamy sauce that was dotted with bits of prosciutto - so simple and so perfect. My sister had the pasta with cheese and truffles (an outstanding value at $27) and it was divine - we're still talking about it two days later. The one odd thing was the bread, which comes individually wrapped in foil with no option for butter or olive oil (not sure if this is a COVID thing, but odd that an Italian restaurant can't offer a small bowl of olive oil to go with bread?). Still, it wasn't enough to dampen the mood and the experience, which really was outstanding. We'll be back soon!
Amazing food, great ambiance and great service
Good food and service - highly recommended; nice venue
