First time patron at this restaurant, we celebrated my aunts birthday there and were very pleased with the experience we had. The food quality was excellent as was the service and we will differently be returning in the near future!
One of my favorite lunch spots. You can enjoy something light like their soups or salads, or go for their amazing pastas and entrees. Leave room for espresso and panna cotta!
Everything from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert was delicious. The waiters were wonderful and very knowledgeable. Tons of daily specials to choose from. It was our first time there but we will definitely be going back. Sat out on the patio and just had a wonderful time. Thank you!
Antonio and Mario were amazing, great service. Seafood great. It has a family ambiance, unpretentious, but could be updated.
Food and Service were excellent. Tables were closer together than I would like and the dining room was loud.
The short ribs were fabulous! The rice with porcini mushrooms and marscapone delicious as always. My friend enjoyed her salad with grilled shrimp.
Service was, as always, impeccable. And Mario is a treasure.
I’ve dined at Celestino deliciously for years, mostly before the pandemic. On this occasion, I was unhappy to see some kitchen chefs with their masks down (although I “get it”), but the staff outside the kitchen all wore them. As it was raining outside, we reluctantly asked to be seated indoors (their patio was full), and were shown one of the private rooms where we were told they would not seat any others. Unfortunately, as we were served the main course, they seated a big group of 8 near us and the masks all came off. We asked to be moved to another room and the staff did so graciously, but it interrupted a nice meal. Lesson for me is probably, as someone worried about indoor dining during Omicron, to just dine outside, rain or shine. The food was delicious. I was a bit surprised to see a $4 “split” charge on the bill for a salad the two of us shared (I have often shared an appetizer there with no fee), but the generously poured glasses—and surprisingly low cost—of their house wine made up for it. Our waiter was very friendly and personable, although the service felt a bit rushed. (Our entrées arrived before we finished the first course.) Because of the “dining indoors paranoia” we felt (my own fault), it was not a very relaxing meal. I’ll go back when this pandemic is over.
Consistently delicious and great service! I never tire of the their regular menu, and there are always terrific specials.
Love this place. Great food and great service. Highly recommend!
excellent food and service!!!
We asked to be seated out at the patio (covid-omicron surges) since it was a pretty packed house. Sat down and waited for 15 minutes and still no waiter to served us water. Had to ask the busboy for water and to take our order. Then our waiter showed up 10 minutes later.
Got our appetizers it was delicious.
Now wanting to order our main course and again our waiter was no where to be found.
Had to change to inside table to get one of our regular server Jesus. He was superb.
Rule of thumb never tried something new.
Fabulous food and fabulous service! Love Celestino!
Great food, great service. Kids enjoyed their meals and enjoyed their interactions with our server.
They spray vinegar on the tables when people leave and it ruined my meal when they cleaned the neighboring table.
First time for me. Amazingly helpful and attentive service. Recommended entree and wine superb. Well be back!
New Year’s Eve
Service is very limited Food is just ok Not recommended
Dinner was perfect Our outing was dinner on New Year’s Eve
We were 5 seated at the outdoor patio for a family get together on New Year's Eve lunch. We had the patio to ourselves for perfect privacy and safety during Omicron surge.
Celestino's is like the neighborhood place you see in movies-warm, inviting, friendly, serving delicious food. The staff is helpful and attentive. The regular menu is a combination of comfort food and inventive dishes. There are always several special which are worth listening to even if you have already made up your mind. During the cooler months I prefer to be in the main dining room which feels a little dressier and festive than the adjoining rooms. When it gets warmer the front patio on Lake Street is terrific. Lunch or dinner at Celestino's is a consistently positive experience all around, a great value too!
Probably the best Italian food in Pasadena served by knowledgeable staff in a nice atmospheric restaurant. Considering the overall increase in prices, Celestino also offers reasonable value for money.
Delicious and attentive service! Never disappoints.
We were seated next to an enormous party (20 +) and it was way too noisy with crying and screaming children. We just needed quieter neighbors.
Uninspired Italian. Extensive menus may be too extensive for excellence.
Great food. Vegetarian selections. Warm and attentive staff. We love this place!
We had a wonderful experience! We ate family style and all of the dishes were delicious! We were able to take our time and had excellent service!
biggest failure was serving good bread with no taste butter in a plastic contained. This is a quality restaurant and I cannot believe they do not serve a first class olive oil. Major shortcoming.
Wonderful food, wonderful service as always!
I had asked for a quiet table, and we were offered a room where there were only large tables set...strange, since I had gone to the trouble to reserve a table.
The waiter was a bit dismissive, not very warm. And the table of 12 immediately next to us was loud, and also talking on their phones as they paced the room, without masks. Overall, not the best experience as I am accustomed to. Food was good, but you can't do much wrong with sole and salmon.
We had such a nice time at dinner. We got to the restaurant earlier than our reservation time & luckily found street parking right outside in front of the restaurant. They greeted us & sat us down right away. Friendly staff.
I think our server was Antonio. Helped us with suggestions from their long menu ... too many dishes on the menu. My hubby had the Linguine with sea food. My daughter had Linguine with truffle cheese fondue and loved it, and I had the Gnocci with truffle cheese fondue.
Bread was good & we ate a bit too much of it, which left no room for desert.
Menu prices were a bit high. Overall it was a great experience and we had a fun time.
Family holiday dinner
Nice restaurant. Highly recommended if in the Pasadena area. Great staff, wide variety of Italian cuisine, killer wine list, enjoyed our dinner there.
Celestino was jammed with people and social distancing was not in place. Waiters wore masks but the crowding of tables and diners looked like pre-Covid times. The kitchen couldn’t handle the volume so waiters held off asking those seated for their drinks and food orders to spread out the crush. We ordered at the first opportunity (during the drinks order) and food arrived in a timely way following that opportunity. Food was very good but the noise and chaos made for a stressful outing. Current wines by the glass should be replaced with decent options! Waiters can’t access the bill for timely checkout (one point of service only—dated technology that reflects the overall tired infrastructure/maintenance).
We have frequented Celestino for years. This was our first (and last) during Covid.
I love the staff here. They treat you like family. Everyone knows your name, service is amazing. Can’t recommend more highly.
The food and drinks were awesome. The restaurant has great energy. Lastly, the service was excellent. All of these factors made for a great night out.
Classic food and service. Excellent homemade soups and the shaved artichoke salad was exceptional. Don't leave without trying the panna cotta!
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and I was mortified at the bad service we received. We ordered appetizers and a bottle of wine and asked for a little more time to order our entrees. To our surprise, he told us that we had to order immediately and that we needed to hurry through our meal to make room for other tables! We had a 7pm reservation and had only been seated for about five minutes so we were very surprised to be told to rush through our meal. We even asked the waiter for clarification and he doubled down and forced us to order as quickly as possible. There were plenty of open tables by the middle of our meal. Also, while I had noted in the reservation that we were there for a special birthday dinner, it went unacknowledged. I was so embarrassed to have taken someone there for a special dinner and am writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to have a birthday ruined.
I’ve dined there many times but it seemed as if they overbooked yesterday. We were on time but had to wait at the bar for a table to open up and this was the case for many of the guests last night.
It was not the usual ambiance as well as noise level was quite incredible and we could hardly hear our waiter going over the specials
Service was quite good and my friend and I commented that it was the fastest we’d ever been tended to there.
I’ll go back as it’s one of my favorite authentic Italian restaurants
We made 6:30 reservations but had to wait until 7:20 to be seated.
