I made a point of noting it was my husband’s birthday dinner. I wanted it special.
The food was very good, but the hostess wasn’t accommodating at all. They sat us in an awful spot, at table far away from everything with no heat lamps. I understand that it was Covid seating but there were tables that were much more desirable.
When dessert came, there was no candle. Again, I asked the hostess why the didn’t read my notes- that it was to be a special occasion. She offered free champagne (which I don’t drink and my husband dislikes).
I usually really enjoy the Drago Restaurants, but this experience was awfully disappointing.
My husband is easygoing and even he thought our seating was horrible.
One last thing. Our waiter was a little pushy. He REALLY pushed the specials crab & lobster linguine and a crab ravioli. I’m not dory he did. He was correct- both dishes were FANTASTIC.
Always excellent food, service and ambience. Best restuarant in town.
Wonderful as usual! Great food, drinks and service!
The calamari steak (special) was well done, although a little chewy. I would order again given the chance. The highlight of the night was the rabbit, done well and spiced well. A little over-cooked but still nice. Recommended. The wild muchroom with black truffles was not something to miss either.
My husband’s birthday celebration at his favorite restaurant. Staff, food and service was amazing. We love this restaurant!
You need more heaters please. It's very cold now outside.
Had never been before-sister took me for my birthday-excellent service and food and ambience-will definitely return!
Yikes! Not a good restaurant! They put us back in some business office courtyard in something that looks like a really old, run-down Japanese Pagoda (but this restaurant is Italian) and it was such a weird location as we were literally sitting where people are having their coffee break from their office. Server acted like it was his first day and seemed shocked we would ask for a wine list & then just tried to push us to take the "house" wine but couldn't tell us anything about it. We insisted on getting a bottle but he was hesitant to grab us the list yet couldn't name any of the bottles on there so we kind of needed the list. Food is okay, nothing special. But definitely won't be going back.
Fabulous environment, excellent service, mostly disappointing and uninspired food, especially for the price.
Delicious and amazing specials
Classic, old school Italian. Elegant service and delicious food.
Fantastic, authentic, Italian experience. Warm and friendly staff, and the food was delicious! The ‘specials’ menu was out of this world. Something for everyone.
Great food excellent service their outdoor dining experience is well done
Loved the ambience. The outdoor lighting was romantic and the wine we selected was perfect.
Due to the pandemic, these restaurants are struggling. It is important for us to support them. Celestino's went above and beyond to make our visit wonderful. Food was amazing as always. Service was beyond wonderful. They made us feel welcome, happy and full. thank you to their entire staff. Happy holidays.
food was incredible
service was very friendly and kind
maby some music will help ...
Food was great, Server was great, & outdoor area was nice! Highly recommend!
Celestino has such a lovely patio in the back, the tables are well-spaced and the food and service are always outstanding!
The waiter was excellent knowledgeable on food & drinks made excellent recommendations.
Celestino continues to serve excellent Italian food with Sicilian warmth, even in the chillier ambiance of outdoor dining in November. The terrace has heaters and is partially closed in with glass, which helps. They have returned to their pre-COVID-19 long list of daily specials, among them their wonderful baby artichoke, pecorino and arugula salad with lemon dressing. It's surprisingly creamy-smooth and refreshing. The lamb chops were juicy, plump and generously sauced. The guests enjoyed their grilled branzino, pumpkin tortellini and chicken milanese, which is always a winner. Here's hoping the restaurant survives the endless lockdowns.
Celestino has the authentic Northern Italian vibe. I had the OssoBuco over risotto and my wife had the Pheasant Pappardelle with Mushroom Soufflé as an appetizer which had the best Truffle cream sauce I've had since Palio closed in New York City. The Arugula and Artichoke salad was a perfect palate cleanser. We did not have room for a pasta course but will be back soon! Our waiter helped us find wine selections, was super attentive without hovering, and the desserts, ricotta cheese cake and pannacotta were divine. The fact I can remember each dish is testament to the level this place it at. You will not be disappointed.
Love Mario! He is the best!
What a nice and pleasant spot for an outdoor lunch. The courtyard is lovely and quiet. The staff attentive and more importantly very safe. Food was delicious.
It’s always a wonderful experience: great service, incredible menu, and perfectly prepared food.
Great food as usual and Nice set up for outside dining. Only problem was no heaters so a little chilly!
Need space heaters in rear patio as it gets colder
We had dinner at Celestino a couple of nights ago and it was excellent as always. They have plenty of outdoor seating, so social distancing was no problem, almost like the old days. The mushroom soup was the best I've ever had, the fusilloni delicious.
We arrived and the restaurant did not have our reservation through Open Table. Even though I showed the confirmation on my phone to the ‘Maitre D’’ he argued with me and said that they could not honor the reservation nor could they honor the Open Table 1,000 point bonus. He then pointed to an outside table on the street and indicated that we could take that one - even though the restaurant was empty. The food is always excellent at Celestino, but the service staff is abominable. We doubt we’ll be going back.
Fabulous service and fabulous food!
Love Celestino’s. It’s the best pasta around. Always consistent.
First time in a long time we were disappointed overall. Not up to their usual game.
Service improved. Food was abundant and tasty. This is among my no. 1’s for Italian food in Pasadena.
Mario was awesome and accomodating to my food allergies
No wine list. Staff running around too much. I expected a 5 but turned out to ba a three at best. Setting is pretty good, but no wine list is inexcusable.
My Cesar chicken salad wasn’t good as the food tasted there before.
My guest’s pasta special wasn’t very good
Disappointing
Even during this pandemic, Celestino has captured the dining experience with their outdoor patios, never missing a beat on their service and excellent food plus safe and social distancing. Thanks for always having us your first priority.
Consistently the most delicious Italian food in Pasadena!
It was very nice that evening. The table was wonderful and the fish was outstanding.
They need to turn some music on to uplift the mood.
Celestino’s never disappoints. Food and service were outstanding as always.
