Food at Celestino's never disappoints. It's like taking a trip to Italy without leaving Pasadena. Delicious!
Our first time at Celestino. The food and service were both great; however, the restaurant needs updating. There are cracks in the tile and the patio garden needs cleaning and care. Cobwebs were on some of the plants and the fountain had trash in it.
The food was really delicious and service was really good.
This is the typical pre-COVID Celestino: wonderful food, mediocre service. We know they're working very hard, but waiting for food, for cocktail, and for the check takes far too long.
Wonderful evening with my little daughter! Thank you!
Delicious entrees and fantastic service!
Been here many times. The food is always fantastic and the staff always friendly.
Always enjoy celestinos!!
Classic dishes, quality food. was nice to sit outside but the walkway was a bit cramped.
We discovered the restaurant’s parking spots in the rear and sat outside in the atrium under a canopy. The food was good as we remembered from a prior visit.
mediocre food but good service Waiters should use the term sir instead of the colloquil "boss"
We have been going to Celesitino for 15 years at least and it is one of our favorite Italian restaurants.
Good food and service. Will come back for sure😊
It was great to be back dining in Pasadena and seeing some old friends at Celestino! Food and service is always great!
Celestino's is a favorite for us and our family. We can always count on delicious, fresh, healthy food, great service, a quiet peaceful setting for effective conversation. We are treated kindly and with respect; always met with a friendly greeting. Several of us have food restrictions and unique requests that have always been accommodated warmly.
The food came out cold and had to send it back.
They served main courses prior to clearing first courses
Will never go back
thé lamb shank was over cooked , polenta undercooked
waiter didn’t come to chk in on meal after served.
The beet salad had old or overcooked beets. Service was ok but our table was near an open door and the draft was horrible.
Our new waiter will benefit from training. He just doesn’t know better
Fussilino sp? Wasn’t as good as it was 3 weeks ago.
Swordfish had two spears of asparagus
The bread roll is a joke. Best part is that I don’t eat it-therefore save calories.
Haven’t been here in a while. Very disappointed.
What a treat to go out to dine again, though we still prefer and opted for an outdoor table. We got a lovely spot on their front patio, which had a nice view of the twinkling lights covering the trees on Lake Avenue. The food was absolutely EXCELLENT. There was four of us, three of us ordered a pasta dish while the other opted for a risotto, and everything was so delicious and perfectly cooked. My penne in vodka sauce with prosciutto was an eye-opener for me; hardly any tomato taste at all but rather a rich, slightly creamy sauce that was dotted with bits of prosciutto - so simple and so perfect. My sister had the pasta with cheese and truffles (an outstanding value at $27) and it was divine - we're still talking about it two days later. The one odd thing was the bread, which comes individually wrapped in foil with no option for butter or olive oil (not sure if this is a COVID thing, but odd that an Italian restaurant can't offer a small bowl of olive oil to go with bread?). Still, it wasn't enough to dampen the mood and the experience, which really was outstanding. We'll be back soon!
Amazing food, great ambiance and great service
Good food and service - highly recommended; nice venue
My wife and I have dined at Celestino’s many times and are never disappointed. The food is fantastic and the staff are warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. Celestino’s is our favorite place for just the two of us when we want to go out or when we have friends from out of town.
fine good excellent love the celetinos history location parking, very clean
Food is very delicious, but it is expensive. The outdoor dining during this COVID time lacks charm and ambiance. I would expect a nicer atmosphere because of the prices.
Very reasonably priced yet excellent Italian cuisine.
Once we moved tables closer to a heat lamp, things were much better. The back patio is lovely. The food was delicious (we had the Dine LA menu) and the service was wonderful. A couple of odd things: we were served dinner rolls (individually wrapped in foil) but was told there was no butter or olive oil! Also, no cream for the coffee. That definitely had us shaking our heads.
Celestino's is still one of our favorite Pasadena Italian restaurants. We both enjoyed the DineLA menu. The staff was thrilled to see us. Everyone came out to sing happy birthday to my sister-in-law. It was all great!
I absolutely hate being that guy who posts negative reviews but here we go. This was one of my first times out since the initial shut down last year. I took my friend to this establishment her birthday. I made the reservation a week in advance for comfortability because I'm well aware indoor dining is not a thing in Los Angeles County at the moment. When we arrived, we noticed not all the tables were heated by heat lamps and some tables were actually in a breezeway. Guess where we were seated? Yes. We were seated in the breezeway and it was (I KID YOU NOT) 45 degrees outside. About 20 minutes in and 3 requests for bread that we never received, I went inside to speak with the hostess to see if we could take one of the empty tables near the heat lamps. I explained when I made the reservation a week ago I didn't know to request a heated table and that probably should've been an option that someone mentioned on the phone. She told me there was nothing she could do as those tables were being waited on by other parties but she'd try to help. I knew we were stuck and were going to freeze. Needless to say, dinner was cut short because we couldn't take the harsh conditions of the freezing cold. The food was ok. Terrible experience. I'll never dine here again.
Food always great.
Our waiter forgot to share the Dine LA options.
There was no drinks/cocktails menu.
Some tables had great heaters and protection. Others (including ours) had non.
There was a speaker right above our table with loud techno-Euro music. Just weird.
Overall not worth the price and not a great date night experience.
The meal and service was wonderful! Even with covid restrictions (although a bit cold outside), it was as good as we remembered. Thank you!
Covid precautions seem very thoughtful. Food better than ever. Service always fantastic. Thank you!
Disappointed, my wife and I ordered the shrimp salad. It came out without dressing and had to ask for dressing. The chicken parmesan was simply a chicken breast lightly floured with a light tomato sauce. Not worth $26. I asked for bread as it was not even offered. When I asked for butter or olive oil they said they were not serving any. The bread was served wrapped in a piece of foil with 2 small pieces. The only good item was my pepper and cheese pasta. It was quite good. Service here has never been great bur every thing has gone down hill. Very disappointing. We will not return.
Great neighborhood restaurant with a very very Italian feel. We thoroughly enjoy our visits.
Love the fresh pasta and the service is always great.
We had a reservation and had to wait in the cold 10 minutes fir our table. It was cold and our table was not near the heaters. They said they had no more heaters.
Then I asked for some olive oil and they could not give me any.
They were too busy with large parties and 2 or 3 waiters doing a birthday cake. They needed to use those waiters for service.
Love Celestinos but they need more help.
Lovely experience in patio.
I will never return. We had reservations on Sat night and showed up on time. There was no-one to greet us, no place to check-in, no hostess. The front covered patio was packed without any social distancing w 5 to 6 people at each table. The ones on the street had no settings. The wait staff was busy and didn't even say someone would be with us soon . I walked inside when told to by a waiter and the bartender was very busy and very rude. I waited 10 min and never spoke to anyone in charge and in fact never saw anyone who appeared to be in charge. This was at 8:30 on Sat night! I have been there about 3 times over five yrs and it has been poor every time. I wanted to give it a try since one of my friends said so. We called another place in So Pasadena, Bistro del La Gare, and had a very nice dinner.
Disappointed in service. They clearly didn’t have enough staff. Plus, there are no heat lamps anywhere for a restaurant of this caliber. Disappointed and won’t be coming back.
