I made a reservation thru open table, and for the first time I attempted to redeem a dining reward. I followed the open table instructions, and received an electronic copy of the $10 reward with my reservation. When I attempted to redeem it tonight, after dinner, our waiter, Guiseppe, said that he didn't know what I was talking about, refused to even look at the reward certificate on my phone, proceeded to tell me that he worked there for 15 years and never heard of anything like this $10 discount I was trying to get. I asked him to send a manager over, and he returned 5 minutes later and told me the manager didn't need to talk to me because he looked at my reservation and there was no mention of a discount. This restaurant made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I was totally embarrassed for trying to redeem this "reward".
Great food. Great service. Always reliable and no surprises. My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles.
The food at Celestino is always good. We also appreciate the fact that there is no piped in music and quiet conversation is possible, particularly if you sit outside the main dining room, which tends to be a bit crowded and noisy. This last visit we felt the service was sub-par. Our waiter didn't seem to have time for us and didn't bother to list all the specials for us, which is always something to inquire about at Celestino because they are not on the menu (we heard another waiter listing more specials at another table). The service is sometimes a flaw at Celestino--it can be brusque. Wine by the glass seems more and more expensive, so I would recommend looking at the wine list--you have to ask for it--and going over choices with the server. If you're going to pay $14 a glass, be sure it's something you will enjoy.
Very authentic and I love that all the staff Ive had the pleasure to encounter is Italian.
Lovely wine list and wonderful mushroom dishes this time of year.
We came here for my parents' 45th anniversary. We waited at the bar for our party to arrive and the bartender was great; very attentive and friendly. We were seated almost as soon as our party arrived. The waiter was so friendly, gave great recommendations, and provided excellent service. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time; my husband got the special crab linguine with a lobster, I got the other special, wild boar ragu with orecchiette. Everyone at our table raved about the meal. I am so glad we decided to come here to celebrate my parents and would recommend this place 100%.
Excellent food and service as usual for Celestino.
Overal experience was fair. Unfortunately, their kitchen had a fire issue and the restaurant has to close down.
However, we did get our meal beforehand along with an extensive wait.
Would have loved to relax and enjoy more wine, but they had to close.
Thank you !
Nothing special food was average patio seating was not very cozy or romantic
Great food, I loved th pheasant, which I havent been able to find for years. I want to try the duck ravioli and the rabbit . My friend loved the scallops and salads were great. I’ll come again soon.
The wait staff was excellent, although the hostess was a little pre-occupied. Branzino was great and the pasta was authentic!
The food was exquisite, the service was phenomenal... I truly recommend the experience to anyone that reads this review Five Stars😇🤗☺️
Excellent meal and service! the langostino special linguini was beautiful. We had an early dinner pre-theater. The service was spot on and got us out in good time without rushing.
Very very good. Service even better than usual. The special beet salad was amazing. Simone was great too.
From the moment we arrived, our experience was wonderful. Our reserved table was ready and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was knowledgeable, professional, personable, and more than accommodating. The food was delicious and served quickly.
it was Mother's Day. Maybe not a great night to dine out. We waited a long long time!
My review would have been much better had I not had to threaten to leave after waiting for one and three quarter hours for our entrees, which then took another ten minutes or more to arrive. Others around us were seated long after we arrived and received their meals long before ours. The waiter never apologized, no one ever gave us an excuse or explanation for the unreasonable delay, but instead someone from the kitchen (not our waiter or the maître d') meekly brought five deserts to our table that we accepted but frankly would have preferred to avoid.
Very disappointed with the service we got. I choose this restaurant as I had dined here before and had a great experience. Invited my Cousin and Aunt to celebrate Mother’s Day with us. There were 10 of us the sitting was a little congested. It was ok with us. Then comes the bread basket, 1 for basket was served for us 10, not even enough to have 1 bread each. Our waiter was just in a hurry and always we gave to find him or flag him to order something. Drink we’re not refilled, nobody was checking on our table, like the whole meal we have to hunt him down. Never checked if we like our good. Never ask if I wanted more wine. As in were there on our own. I get it, it’s Mother’s Day and it’s busy! But no effort was made to make this fine dining a fine dining!!! $470. And yes I still give a tip!!!
In fairness, food was great. The tiramisu was to die for and NO I will never dine here again.
I’m sure there are happy and satisfied costumer but this special night....we felt left out. I feel bad for my cousin and her family who drove all the way from the valley just to have a very disappointing experience in this place.
The food was excellent. We were seated in a room off the main dining room - it was quieter (we asked for a quiet table), but the room had no charm. If you want to be in the livelier part, be sure to specify you want the main dining room.
The service also was excellent. The only glitch was Celestino's credit card reader wasn't working when we were ready to pay. Fortunately I had cash.
not great food I was expecting from the Drago Brothers. Disappointing and I won't be back.
Celestino never disappoints.. great food and service.. we were not rushed and enjoyed a wonderful leisurely dinner with an old friend...
Waiters were quite pushy, sort of like “what do want? No wine? No dessert?” “Here’s the check”. No thank you .
Still going strong after all these years. Felt like revisiting an old friend. Terrific birthday dinner.
You are one of my favorite restaurants, but it was just not a good night. The table next to us were celebrating a birthday and they're so loud we could not hear each other talk. There were 6 at the table and they're beyond loud the entire time. We think the kitchen lost our order as we sat for well over an hour waiting for our dinner once we ordered. The veal scaloppini was mediocre, as was my pasta with porcini mushrooms from your special mushroom menu. However the ravioli with morels and truffles was great...We all shared bites. Beat salad was also great.
I wish I could write a better review but I can't from Friday night.
Food and service excellent.
The pasta is very good here. The Branzino was ho-hum. Service not particularly fast or warm.
Overall we prefer Gale's.
Food was fabulous!
Drinks are pricey, food is a good value for quality, will continue to go back
Never disappointed with this amazing restaurant. The atmosphere, the service, the food, and a wonderful wine list all add up to a perfect dining experience.
Always have a good experience at Celestino! The food is excellent, the owner comes around to chat. Also the waiters are always the same...very low turnover, which says a lot.
Splendid. No pretenses. Charming service, contemporary and traditional Italian crafted plates. Always just right in every way for a business lunch.
Consistently great Italian food done right with a good wine pour - prices are very reasonable - one of our go to places in Pasadena
Good food, but with an unusual twist/preparation. Salad was just okay and overpriced.
The food and service is excellent!
Can't beat it. Wonderful food and service.
Fantastico come sempre! Our party of four sampled the savory tomato and vegetable soups, the mixed green salad, the calmari steak and tricolore salad, all delightful start to the evening. The creamy lasagne was melt in the mouth delicious. The veal and rabbit entrees were wonderful. The tiramisu was a heavenly way to end the meal.
Poor service. Chaotic environment. Charged for soda water on top of $14 drinks. Server never came after being seated, we had to ask who our server was. Owner/manager came to take our order, but what was brought was not was we ordered. Food was OK, but not worth the frustration.
Good place for talking , eating, especially for family gathering
Excellent food , service and atmosphere!
Always great food!
It is a nice restaurant with very good italian food. It is a in a higher price class, especially the vines are very expensive.
