Cedars Steakhouse & Oyster Bar - Foxwoods Resort Casino Ratings and Reviews
Made a reservation a week or so in advance via Open Table. While the food and service was very good and they were accommodating to my dietary needs, the table selection was not appealing. We were set at a table near the food prep area. For a fine restaurant, these table should not be used by anyone except for employees. Guests should not be watching staff roll napkins, place dirty dishes on a service cart near a guest table or listen to servers rant to each other. Especially when your meal is over $250.00. We pay for the ambiance too.
This was our third time there and the two previous time we at in the bar off the bar menu which was nice. This time we sat in the dining room. The menu was rather limited in the main dining room and I thought overpriced for what was served. I ordered the Farmer's Bowl salad which was really nice. But the Short ribs and Steak frites were just average. Cocktails were not cheap ($14) and the wines by the glass fairly limited selection. The service was just ok. Friendly but we waited approx. 10 mins before anyone came to take our drink order. The menu was priced above what a place with this ambiance and level of service warranted. I would not say we had a bad meal but I definitely would not rush to go back either. It was just ok.
I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Two of us ordered scallops with spinach, the scallops were not seared properly and were over cooked with no taste whatsoever and the spinach had so much garlic you couldn’t even eat it. The prices are way over priced for food that taste horrible. I will be writing to the General Manager, but we shall see if I hear back-I don’t think they even care if your meal sucks.
We spent Thanksgiving at Foxwoods Casino and ate our holiday meal at Cedars. We ordered the turkey dinner which was generous, good value and delicious. We were too full for dessert, but the delicious pumpkin pie was put in a takeaway for a late night snack. Service was attentive and very personable. The ambiance is fairly upscale and we had a great dining experience. We do not normally spend the holiday away from home, but the meal and atmosphere made for a festive start to the holidays.
We were disappointed this time with the kitchen and the quality of the ingredients. We shared a porterhouse steak, a wedge salad, and a baked potato. We also had a bottle of wine. The wine was very tasty. The food was below par. We finished the meal with espresso and it was watery. The evening before we had eaten in the bar - different menu and our food was very good and the espresso was quite good. It may have been a bad day for the kitchen. We will give them another chance, and hope the next visit is as good as our former visits.
50 minutes late seating us. When we were seated got questioned how long ago we made reservation. Did offer free drink. We don’t drink. Steaks fair but over cooked and small for price. Sides terrible. Mac and cheese not edible. Asparagus tasteless. Shrimp raw and when returned had been microwaved and were rubbery. I do not recommend and will never return.
Wedge salad was very good. We ordered the scallop and bacon appetizer...scallops were undercooked. For entrée, three of us ordered the bone-in ribeye. The steaks were cooked well, but definitely not one of the best ribeyes I have had. My son ordered the veal porterhouse which we were both debating getting. It came out very undercooked. He sent it back and ordered a bone-in ribeye, medium rare. It came out rare. The homemade tater-tots were very good, but don't make up for the steak. At $100/person including tip it was definitely a disappointing meal.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary by having dinner and then a concert afterwards. We requested a booth in advance and the host mentioned how they placed a reserved sign to reserve the booth for us. Very nice. We also asked for the pre-theater menu which is available 5p-6:30p. Includes appetizer, entree and dessert for $55 each. My husband went with a bourbon. No price listed for his. Ended up being $16. I had an Ocean Blue Martini for $14. We had a window view from the booth so watched the sun set :) The service was good. The rolls with the strawberry butter was very good. We both ordered the lobster bisque. It was absolutely disgusting! Even with the sherry it was terrible, so fishy tasting. Not like the fresh delicious lobster bisque you get from Menemsha Fish Market on the island of Martha's Vineyard. They offered us either the chowder or garden salad. We both went with the garden salad. It was delicious. Then came the prime rib (with au jus, and horseradish sauce), baked potato (side of sour cream, butter), and asparagus. Huge portions, especially the baked potato. I could only eat half. But it was all very good. For dessert my husband went with the cheesecake with strawberries. He said it was good. And I went with the chocolate fudge cake. Mine was the size of a mini cake. Although it was very good, I thought it would of been better half the size along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Dinner for 2 was $145 before tip. Overall we had an excellent dinner and glad we went. Would recommend for a special occasion.
Food was overpriced and under seasoned. I ordered prime rib medium came out rare came back 15 minutes later grey and potato was ice cold as were the sides that sat there waiting for my rib to return . My wife got the surf and turf lobster was ice cold and nobody seemed to care.
Food was just ok, had the short ribs, they were cooked well but lacked any seasoning, the dish also came with carrots and asparagus, both were a bit undercooked and peas that were pilled sloppily on top of the mashed potatoes. We also had the seared scallops that were undercooked, however, the sauce they were served in was delicious.
For the price, I would expect far better attention to detail in what's coming out of the kitchen. The staff was friendly, the bread was good and the drinks were well made.
They sat us in what turned out to be a hall way near he kitchen. Just me and my wife for our anniversary. There were 3 other tables in the area so we said ok thinking they were very busy and other people would be sitting around us. After 5 minutes they took all the other tables and chairs out and se them up in the main dining room leaving me and the wife sitting in the hall by our selves with no tables or ambiance at all. Felt like I was waiting in the hall for the principal to come out and yell at us. Then after a half hour of ridiculousness the waitress came over and said the chef made us the wrong dinner but they are taking care of it and it will be out in a minute. After ten more minutes a waiter that had passed us by about a hundred times came over and apologized and said our dinner will be right out. About 5 minutes later another waiter came out and gave us 2 dinners but not what we ordered. Ten minutes later we got the correct dinners from a different waiter and it was absolutely delicious. Our idiot waitress did finally own the screw up and the manager never came over to apologize but did take one dinner off the bill.
Service would be a zero if I could leave one but the food was a 5.
We waited for 40 minutes for a table, despite the fact that we had a reservation. Then hen we finally were seated, they asked us to move tables to accommodate a larger party, since they sat us at a 4 seat table and we were 2 people. The manager realized we were very upset and didn't move us and compted us on one of the beers but overall the experience was not pleasant, the food was mediocre at best and way overpriced for what we got.
We had a business get-together, more social than business. The server, Brenda, did a great job with all aspects of a table of ten, no easy task. She made some excellent recommendations, provided a lot of discrete service, and handled any issues well. There were a couple small issues with cooking temperatures, but nothing to deter me from returning again. Overall, we had an excellent time.
Have always enjoyed Cedars.. One of my favorites were their lamp chops. Always ordered charred medium Pittsburgh style. Were usually delicious. This happened once before. I should have questioned . In the past served like a steak.. grilled. A real disappointment.
. What I received were greasy lamb chops, smothered in gravy and mashed potatoes. I barely ate them
Must have changed Chef.. Will not recommend again.
Elaine Lasky. I was with Mr Coombs.
Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. We were seated for our 6:45 reservation at about 7:00 pm. Feeling a little anxious, I asked the girl pouring our water if was any chance we would make our 8:00 show in the Grand Theater. She said she thought so and she would let our server know that we needed quick service. Our server was very good about letting us know what was going on and assured us that she would do all she could to get us to the show on time. We had stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and our meals came just as the server said they would, right after. All of the food was delicious. As a bonus, we made the show in time to see the opener! It was a great evening, but next time I will leave extra time to truly enjoy the meal and try a desert - it was delectable!
Everything was wonderful from the service as soon as we sat down to the first delectable bite. The mushroom appetizer was out of this world and my SO's Lobster bisque was the best he ever had. We split the "cedar cut" prime rib and it was outstanding. Melt in your mouth delicious. Be sure to add on a side of cedars house made tater tots...a real treat with no dip sauce required. We gave up our reservation for seats at the bar (we are bar people). The bartenders were great. Informative, fun and made our dining experience even better. Can't wait to go back for the chicken sandwich!
We shared the Ceaser salad which had a little to much vinegar flavor ( I suspect from the white anchovies). The lettuce was not as fresh and some pieces were browning.
This is the second time this happened to us, so we will just order a different salad the next time.
the Salmon with pesto was cooked perfectly and a large portion. The steamed 2 1/2lb lobster was flavorful but the claw meat was dry.
Service was wonderful as always. Nice atmosphere
