I was looking forward to eating here as it was my husband's birthday. First I will start off by saying that our waitress Roxanne was amazing but outside of her nothing about this place would ever make me come back again. The food was subpar at best, and coming from NYC where I am used to paying high prices I want what I pay for. Cedars did not deliver. All the food with the exception of the baked potatoes came out warm not hot. My crab cake which thankfully were all crab no filler was the high point on apps and we tried a few. A beef carpaccio which was overpowered by the sliced parmesan and onions, and the grilled oysters that were barely hot when they arrived at the table.
As for the main courses though the Lamb Chops were cooked to a perfect medium they had no flavor and were again warm. The biggest issue I had was with the overcooked stuffed shrimp. A place that makes such delicious crab cakes but neglects to use the same in their Crab stuffed Shrimp is missing the mark. The stuffing on the Shrimp was all breading and barely crab. Big let down, and again all could use a dash of salt in their cooking.
This place does well because it sits inside a rousing casino but anywhere else all of its flaws would stand out. Bland food at ridiculous prices.
The food and service was absolutely fantastic and they even surprised us with an anniversary dessert. The atmosphere was really nice with a great overall experience
It was wonderful
Do not make the same mistake I did. The service was terrible (failed to take drink order, forgot to bring some of the food, waiter was rude and very sweaty...) and the veal steak I ordered would have been right at home on the sole of my boots. This place is an overpriced Applebees trying to masquerade as a fancy steakhouse. Obviously I have some strong feelings about my experience and hope others can avoid the same disappointment.
we have dined at cedars numerous times through the years and have always done well here. this evening the restaurant was freezing!! the maitre d was nice and understanding regarding the cold, however, the restaurant itself was not able to control the temperatures. brrrrr!!!! anyway, the staff is always very pleasant, professional and attentive and they were, once again, this evening. we had the caesar and the farmer's salad and both were excellent! for our entrees we chose the surf and turf as well as the crab stuffed shrimp. they were both good, however, not great, in our opinions. the lobster tail could have been cooked a tad more for it to arrive at the correct texture. i would have preferred not to have the stuffed shrimp butterflied, since the flatness caused them to cool down very quickly. i also would have liked much less butter surrounding them. we would certainly return.
Four different choices of meals and all were very delicious. FILET was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouth, the sirloin was very tasty and juicy. The prime rib meatloaf was so good and the brick chicken was the best tasting chicken I ever tasted. Weall enjoyed our meal very much and cannot wait to visit again our next time in Foxwoods. Kudos to the restaurant chefs, workers and management for a great meal and night out for us.
Went to Cedars for birthday meal.....had been there in the past and had good experiences. This time other than the service things seemed off. Whether because it was a busy Saturday night or whatever. Ordered the clam cakes and chowder that was fine.....the big disappointment was the shaved prime rib sandwich .....which is usually the star of the show.....but on this night was pretty sloppily put together and the prime rib which is usually very lean was very fatty. Probably will make sure I go on a slower night next time.
The lamb chops were delicious, cooked perfectly, coupled with a reasonably priced bottle of Oberon Cabernet. Excellent service. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was...
Food was just okay. Service was lacking.
50%off bottle wines Monday's Great deals. Our Appetizers were very good.
On the other hand the meat served steaks chops etc are all foodservice cuts not fresh. They could upgrade for those prices. Service was very accommodating
We sat down and waited a long time before server came over , then waited even longer for our drink order .. We finally got our drinks and then waited for our oysters which should have been quick .. our server was not a happy lady .. very impersonal and could have cared less to make our evening enjoyable .. when we finally got our dinner it was like they just threw the meat on a plate with no presentation.. my husbands was under cooked and mine over cooked !!! To top off the night when we got the bill my husband ordered a jack on the rocks so he found that jack cost $9.00 and he got charged $3.00 for the ice .. what a joke .. service sucked , presentation no where to be found and way over priced .. For someone who has been in this business for 38 years I found it to be not worth ever going back again .. Don’t waste your money 💰
The food was outstanding. We had eaten there several times over the years and were a little surprised as we didn't remember the pricing being on the higher side. However, the food and service was fantastic and the pricing was justified. I had a steak special with asparagus and potatoes and the food was served hot and cooked to perfection. My spouse had salmon that was also very good and my son had a NY strip. It's rare for all three of us to declare that we were the winners but at Cedars we were.
Fantastic meal, excellent service
Food was only mediocre at best. Dry lobster, overcooked fish, frozen spinach, and rare prime rib when we ordered medium rare. Service was very good but at those prices the food should be much better.
One of my most favorite restaurants, and the service is always as excellent as the food!
HORRIBLE service. My steak was way over cooked.
Good, not great. Spendy, but consistent with casino pricing.
Great food, terrific service. My only complaint is that the scrumptious swordfish has been taken off the menu. That entree was my primary motivation for dining at Cedars. Bring it back!!!
My husband and I went to the Cedar steakhouse for our 2nd wedding anniversary. It was phenomenal. The service and food was amazing. From our oysters and shrimp cocktail to our martinis and filet mignon and stuffed Chilean sea bass!!!! AMAZING!!! They had a variety of breads and butters.....yummmm!!!!! We got a special dessert treat compliments of the restaurant along with our cappuccinos. I highly recommend you trying the Cedar Steakhouse. It’s worth every penny!!!!
The meal was wonderful - mushrooms stuffed with sausage were soooo good along with the baked stuffed shrimp. Our only complaint was with the dessert menu - very plain, lackluster, boring. If they got creative with the desserts, they would have a home run.
We usually eat here once or twice a year, but something made us decide to try a different steak place last year, so it has been awhile. Always my favorite part of any Foxwoods getaway from 2005 - 2015, I have great memories of good times here with great food and excellent service. I considered Cedar’s to be a Five Star place. No longer the place I remember. The Ribeye seemed too fatty and thin, while large. Service was not stellar, no specials, no rapport... just not the friendly service of of “the good old days” (2005-15). And with the latest rearrangement, there is more emphasis on the be bar, and too many storefront-view tables. Ask for a booth in the back if you don’t want to feel like you are dining at the 99 at the mall. I think the bar is nice, bartenders friendly, good TVs for sports. For a romantic meal or a special occasion, try it, but it’s a little bit less “nice” since the rearrangement in ? (2014?). Four Stars.
I was in Foxwoods for the weekend celebrating one of my best friends’ engagement. We had such a good time. The bartender, Wayne, was awesome. I look forward to coming back and dining at this location the next time I am in Foxwoods.
The filet mignon was excellent the bread was excellent even the sweet potato was excellent and the apple pie was maybe the best ever?
Made a reservation a week or so in advance via Open Table. While the food and service was very good and they were accommodating to my dietary needs, the table selection was not appealing. We were set at a table near the food prep area. For a fine restaurant, these table should not be used by anyone except for employees. Guests should not be watching staff roll napkins, place dirty dishes on a service cart near a guest table or listen to servers rant to each other. Especially when your meal is over $250.00. We pay for the ambiance too.
We had a wonderful dinner here. The service was impeccable and the food delicious cooked exactly as we ordered. This is a favorite stop for us at Foxwood.
This was our third time there and the two previous time we at in the bar off the bar menu which was nice. This time we sat in the dining room. The menu was rather limited in the main dining room and I thought overpriced for what was served. I ordered the Farmer's Bowl salad which was really nice. But the Short ribs and Steak frites were just average. Cocktails were not cheap ($14) and the wines by the glass fairly limited selection. The service was just ok. Friendly but we waited approx. 10 mins before anyone came to take our drink order. The menu was priced above what a place with this ambiance and level of service warranted. I would not say we had a bad meal but I definitely would not rush to go back either. It was just ok.
Always a go to place when I'm up in Foxwoods . Excellent food and service
I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Two of us ordered scallops with spinach, the scallops were not seared properly and were over cooked with no taste whatsoever and the spinach had so much garlic you couldn’t even eat it. The prices are way over priced for food that taste horrible. I will be writing to the General Manager, but we shall see if I hear back-I don’t think they even care if your meal sucks.
As always the food and service was great! I've been going to cedars for over 15 years and love it. Great steak and best french onion soup around!
Food was ok. Would have expected more for the price. Nothing great. Sort of disappointed after wanting to try for so long.
We spent Thanksgiving at Foxwoods Casino and ate our holiday meal at Cedars. We ordered the turkey dinner which was generous, good value and delicious. We were too full for dessert, but the delicious pumpkin pie was put in a takeaway for a late night snack. Service was attentive and very personable. The ambiance is fairly upscale and we had a great dining experience. We do not normally spend the holiday away from home, but the meal and atmosphere made for a festive start to the holidays.
I had a great time. Food and service was great like always. Had the Surf and Turf and also the French Onion soup. 5 Stars
We were disappointed this time with the kitchen and the quality of the ingredients. We shared a porterhouse steak, a wedge salad, and a baked potato. We also had a bottle of wine. The wine was very tasty. The food was below par. We finished the meal with espresso and it was watery. The evening before we had eaten in the bar - different menu and our food was very good and the espresso was quite good. It may have been a bad day for the kitchen. We will give them another chance, and hope the next visit is as good as our former visits.
The main reason we go to Foxwoods is the filet at Cedar’s we have never been disappointed in the quality and taste. The rolls are delicious as well.
Excellent menu. Terrific food. Server got gluten free bread for one of us! Thank you.
Excellent service and the petite filet and shrimp was delicious. Braised short ribs were excellent
Excellent meal and service. Maybe a bit over priced but not too bad. Definitely would go back
Never had a bad meal here. Service is exceptional!
50 minutes late seating us. When we were seated got questioned how long ago we made reservation. Did offer free drink. We don’t drink. Steaks fair but over cooked and small for price. Sides terrible. Mac and cheese not edible. Asparagus tasteless. Shrimp raw and when returned had been microwaved and were rubbery. I do not recommend and will never return.
Wedge salad was very good. We ordered the scallop and bacon appetizer...scallops were undercooked. For entrée, three of us ordered the bone-in ribeye. The steaks were cooked well, but definitely not one of the best ribeyes I have had. My son ordered the veal porterhouse which we were both debating getting. It came out very undercooked. He sent it back and ordered a bone-in ribeye, medium rare. It came out rare. The homemade tater-tots were very good, but don't make up for the steak. At $100/person including tip it was definitely a disappointing meal.
