Cedars Floating Restaurant - Coeur d'Alene Resort Ratings and Reviews
I made my reservation thru open table, and as I had some special requests I followed up with a phone call and talked with Lynnette, I'm so glad I did, she helped arrange a superb dinner for my companions and myself. Not only were they able to accommodate my requests (I wanted something off the menu, but made with ingredients on hand) but the whole experience was wonderful. From Danny our waiter, to Chef Andy (who personally came to see if we were happy with our special request) to Lynnette and their service, and the delicious food, and the level of service; our night was outstanding.
For a cost of over $35 a meal I really expected more food. The food was very good but the portions small. The waiter didn't seem to want to be there. The lady filling the salad bar looked pretty grumpy as well and even gave one old guy the stink eye when he accidently went to the wrong side. The atmosphere was very nice and the place was fancy. I really expected more knowing we were going to pay twice as much for only two what we usually pay for four. I doubt we'll ever go back.
Eric, our waiter proved us with very good service. He ensured our steaks were grilled to our liking and quickly retrieved my wife's steak so that it could be cooked a little more to her liking. To our surprise, we were also presented a huckleberry sundae for dessert to help celebrate my wife's birthday. We have eaten at Cedars on several occasions and always received good service and had a great meal.
I have eaten here twice so far. I don't see why the hype about this place. The location is beautiful right on the water but honestly that is all they have. The food is mediocre. I had Halibut, my husband the beergarten steak. Both were just eh. Overpriced for the quality of food. We don't complain when we dine, just don't go back.
It was fun introducing a childhood friend, whom I hadn't seen in 50+ years) to Cedars Floating Restaurant. The cuisine was excellent and the salad bar was the BEST EVER! The service was prompt, yet unobtrusive. Dining there was a fabulous beginning to a couple of days getting reacquainted. Thank you!
Main dining area was very loud as we walked in. We were seated on an extension of the restaurant...a patio. A loud wedding rehearsal dinner dominated the noise in the patio. While the patio was not a bad choice for seating it was not primary to the restaurant experience. For the quality and serving size of the entrees the prices are high. End of season may have had something to do with ambiance...our server was quite friendly and knowledgeable; however, the overall feeling about the experience was one of we were tolerated as patrons out on the fringe...help other than our server were more concerned with cleaning up, socializing and departing work. Sorry...place has a reputation, but in our opinion overrated.
Salad bar was great, lots of variety and fresh and tasty. My hubby had a great ribeye with Biergarten sauce. It was great tasting!!! He rated it 5 out of 5. I had salmon Oscar, loved the crab and the serving on a cedar plank...very pretty and done nicely. My only complaint was our sides, brocollini was not fresh looking and was served cold. Mashed potatoes were literally scooped on my hubbys plate, my baby potatoes were undercooked and were in need of some flavor. Things for the restaurant to work on. Cocktail list was a plus, enjoyed the variety!!
Great dinner! Lots of huckleberry items which may be seasonal. (Hucleberry BBQ sauce on ribs, huckleberry salad dressing, huckleberry ice cream, and huckleberry lemonade) My friend had the prime rib, which was very thick, flavorful, and tender. The salad bar was very fresh and had a lot to offer and it comes with every entre, which is nice. We loved the food and the service was great even though there was a full house. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Since the building is round, all seats have a view. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a special night out. The place isn't very big and a bit crowded with tables so the noise level was a little high when we arrived but it was still an enjoyable evening. I wouldn't recommend it for young children as it is more suitable for adults and I can see how an unruly child or crying baby could be a problem with the close proximity of the tables.
Overall this is a good choice for a moderately-priced meal in the tourist haven. Some of the standard fare such as steaks were just OK but some of the specialties such as the scallops were quite good. Go for something different here -- a local specialty -- and you will probably be very pleased with your meal. Service and rustic ambiance were good. It was so smoky due to regional fires that we could not see the lake but we imagined it was beautiful.
First time going. I took my family here that we're visiting from California over the Labor Day holiday and I made a reservation on line which was so easy. There was no waiting took us right to our seats. Great view of the lake. The food and service was fabulous. I live locally and would definitely go back with my husband for a nice meal. The food is delicious and great portion size. The salad bar is a must if you go. I will recommend this place to my friends and family
Cedars is a local favorite which is situated on the mouth of the Spokane River. It is on an actual floating dock so if the water is rough there is quite a bit of movement. Don't let the movement deter you from trying Cedars, the food, wait staff and view are well worth it.
Fantastic all the way around. We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary and my husbands 60th birthday. A wonderful card and rose petals were at our table when we arrived. This will be a sure dinner place each time we come to Coeur D'Alene.

Best place in town. Consistently great food and the view is awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful and they will accommodate your seating requests if at all possible.
Their salad bar is always fresh and appetizing --- a meal in itself. Also, please try their
prime rib which you can cut with a fork. You will not be disappointed. I bring all my visitors from out of state to this excellent restaurant because I know they and I won't ever regret the meal choices we make nor the ambience of the place.
