I wished I lived closer to Sturbridge so I could frequent this place more often. Cedar Street Grille holds its own against similar restaurants in the Boston area, where I live. The staff is professional but very friendly. The place is low-key, perhaps showing a little wear and tear around the edges, but extremely welcoming and comfortable. Two outstanding dishes I would recommend are the carrot ginger soup and the crepe brûlée. The soup was first and foremost a carrot soup with the ginger a muted enhancement, in contrast to many such soups I have had where the chefs seem to think that the use of ginger must be aggressive. The crime brûlée was a generous size and lovely in every way.
The brunch menu was small but varied. The service was quite attentive. None of the dishes I tasted was superb, but they were all quite tasty.
Foods slightly over priced and a little pretentious. Obviously a talented chef but tone it down a little and focus on simple flavors.
With a friend I ventured out from our hotel looking for somewhere really special to eat. Cedar Street Grille more than met our expectations. Delightful menu with very tasty food that was not the very day offerings of a good restaurant. We recommended this great place to many the very next day. Five star plus rating!
Took our family of four for Sunday brunch. Food was fantastic. Service was very good; knowledgeable and made recommendations after asking us questions about preferences. Definitely going back for dinner. Wide beer selection and innovative cocktails.
We met our son for his birthday, and everyone enjoyed themselves. The food was excellent, we were never rushed, and the atmosphere was very comfortable.
Great atmosphere. Super-attentive bar and wait staff and everything we ordered was delicious! An absolute home run!!
The mussels were warm tender, sweet and delicious! One of the best I have had.
The mac'n cheese was rich and creamy. Fun presentation in an individual iron fry pan.
Service was a bit slow, but we were meeting friends and in no hurry.
We have been to Cedar Street on and off over the years. The menu changes regularly. We did not order the cheese plate, but have been told by others this is very good. We ordered the lamb meatballs which were plain and a bit disappointing, the mussels were very good, the sliders were recommended by our waitress and were beefy, tasty, satisfying. I am a mac and cheese lover and their variety was very creamy and available with several additions such as truffle, lobster, buffalo, etc. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, as well as the bus staff and hostess. Drinks were very good.
I have dined here before and found the food to be outstanding.
However, during this visit I thought the food was just o.k.
I am hoping it was just an off night. I thought the roast was heated up in the microwave....not at all what it tasted like during my previous visit.
Service was excellent!
I always meet Boston area friends here, and it’s a great spot: delightful servers, good food and booze, nice booths. I forgot that it was school vacation, so there were more children than usual and the noise level was higher than usual, but it was still fine.
This was a pleasant place to dine in Sturbridge. I liked the food, service and ambiance. A nice place to have lunch.
Excellent...Every. Single. Bite.
Great sunday night dinner. Dining room was busy and waitstaff was a little bit overwhelmed. Otherwise it was very good.
In a word, awesome. We did brunch, I the lobstah eggs benedict which came with a side of arugula salad, and Sunday bloody Mary's round the table. We even lingered! Definitely worth it, give it a try!
Dinner, wine, and service were good. Used to be my favorite place, but the atmosphere and food have not been the same since the Table 3 revamp.
We were disappointed with the GF menu. The online menu looked really good, but when we ordered, there were very few options compared to the online menu. My wife and I have a stricked diet for health reasons and were looking forward to a safe new place to eat out. Not that it matters, but we won't be back.
The service was fantastic as well as the food. I do have to comment on a particular young lady that works for you. I feel horrible I didn’t get her name because she was the type of employee we all wish we had (we own our own business). She wasn’t our waitress but she filled our water and brought out our food and always had a smile on her face. She told us she was having fun 😊 I saw her through out the night and she was non stop she never slowed down. She did have red hair if this helps with her identity. You should feel so fortunate to have an employee like her.
Great as always! Our favorite meeting spot for lunch!!
We went here for our Valentine's Day dinner. Food was yummy...recommend the Fried Goat Cheese appetizer and the Maple Cinnamon Creme Brulee was delicious. Decent beer options too.
My Mom and I meet my sister who lives in CT in Sturbridge for dinners -m we've tried various restaurants - this one was a real find - it was my birthday - our server could not have been nicer, and as professional and elegant as any you might find in Boston or NYC fine dining restaurant. We enjoyed both small plates and normal entrees - the food was delicious, the wine selections were quite nice as were the specialty cocktails. All future dinners will be here!
Food quality was excellent, and prepared exactly as asked. Tables are very close to each other, difficult to have a private conversation. They appeared to be understaffed. Observed our first and second rounds of completed cocktails each sitting on the bar, waiting for delivery. Each round was finally delivered about 10 minutes after preparation. Appetizer was also sitting around before delivery and was not hot.
Just about everything on the menu could be adjusted for gluten free, and wait staff was very knowledgeable in helping me choose items. The only downside was no separate fryer, so nothing fried is safe for celiac or wheat allergies. The gluten free mac & cheese was excellent, rich creamy, definitely not low cal! And the gluten free pasta is cooked in it's own pot of water, so no cross contamination.
Great! Will be back
Food is always delicious. Staff is knowledgeable. Get the Crazy Dates and Fried Goat Cheese! Unique cocktails, good craft beer selections, and wine.
Best dinner I've had in a long time! Excellent in every way
First timers there .. excellent Sunday brunch / lunch food .. unbelievable grilled cheese sandwich .. great server “ Chelsea “ w an awesome personality too .. great find - bravo .. would love to go back next time we are in Sturbridge ..
Met for Sunday afternoon lunch. Had the chicken and waffles - just loved it. Nice Bloody Mary, too.
Everything was great except the tiny table for two we were sat at up against a wall, we asked for a booth but we were told they were all reserved so we ate at the bar! Bar tender was great!
We made reservations on the fly and were delighted to be seated even though we were 15 mins early. They greet us by name at the door and are always pleasant and happy. Mac and cheese was to die for and the chef special empanadas were excellent! Our go to place in Sturbridge!
The food was excellent and Karen, our waitress, was fantastic. Thank you.
We were two couples each driving about an hour to dine (lunch) and catch up after many months w/o seeing each other. The Grille was perfect for that, as it had been a year before. We could hear each other well at our corner table (reserved well in advance), and the food, creative and delicious, was fine from first course to last. Unlikely that you've had mac & cheese like theirs, or burgers or almost anything else. Service too was fine: attentive but not overbearing. We're looking forward to next year's meal there.
Karen M. Was very friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. As always. They are very attentive to gluten free clientele. I’ll be back.
Our first date night since the birth of our son! Great food, great drinks! The perfect night out!
The service and food were excellent, definitely will go again!
Came with family to celebrate my sister's new job - she requested we come here for the food and we weren't disappointed! Side salads were far tastier than your typical boring garden or caesar, lobster gnocci was perfectly cooked, and the sides with the roast for two (mashed potatoes and garlic green beans) were divine. We asked if a summer cocktail could be recreated and the bar set us up! Everyone loved the various drinks with unique flavor combinations (lavender and gin drinks were a particular hit). Best of all, the great food was complemented by phenomenal service - attentive, but not pushy.
Great experience as always!
Terrific Chicken Caesar Salad, my date had the Grilled Cheese which she said was very good. A little bit crowded and noisy where we were (a smallish room with tables very close) but this was a holiday season day so crowds were to be expected. And if the rest of the food was as good as ours, then it is no wonder that a lot of people like to eat there.
The place is broken up into several different dining areas. If I had my seating choice I would prefer to be in one of the areas which had a little more room.
Would definitely go back again.
Wife thought her butternut squash soup was just average. My hanger steak was great as were the crazy dates.
