   This was our first visit to the restaurant and it was lovely. We were nearly the only guests because we just had a snow event a few days prior. So it was quiet and it allowed us to talk easily and walk around and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. Food was excellent and I highly recommend. For dessert, we had the Chai soufflé. I would not classify it as a soufflé, but it was even better than expected. It was dense and flavorful and I would have loved a bigger piece!! We would love to visit again during sunlight hours so we can see the water!

   Great NYE dining experience. Fantastic food, drinks, and service in a historical setting. Highly recommend!

   My wife and I dined here for New Year's Eve. Cedar Knoll served a fixed price dinner that consisted of good-sized samplings of different appetizers, main courses and desserts. All of the servings were very well prepared. Notably, the Beef Wellington and duck were excellent. We were served by a very attentive waitress named Khadija. Cedar Knoll has a nice atmosphere, especially the room we dined in which was the Presidential room. This cozy room has dark wood paneling, a fireplace, and a view of the Potomac River.

   Our Sunday brunch was delicious and the service was impeccable. We loved the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer. The greens salad with pomegranate was refreshing. As for our entrees, the veal scallopini and oyster stew were outstanding! Very relaxing. Never rushed. We must visit this gem of a restaurant more often.

   Going to Cedar Knoll is always an exceptional experience! Whenever we have out of town, guess, we make it our business to bring them there. The food is exquisite, the ambience is lovely and historic, and the service is perfect.

   Lovely historic location, wonderful service, dishes were creative and most were delicious, but heavy fried food for one of us was a bit much. Wanted to go here my whole life from growing up here, finally made it, and was overall a great get-together.

   Our family had a very disappointing experience this evening at Cedar Knoll. First, we were not seated where we had requested to be (we had out of town family visiting for the weekend and requested to be seated in the main dining room). Second, our entrees were an hour and 15 minutes late and arrived cold and third, we were charged for the late, cold entrees without any kind of apology whatsoever, particularly the filet which was sent back - to arrive 30+ minutes later grossly overcooked, which we had to bring home in a bag due to the long wait time.

   This was supposed to be a special price fixed menu for Christmas Eve served family style. The food was horrible-- the salmon mousse starter was too salty. The croquette starter was very greasy. The lobster and scallops main dish had almost no lobster and was cold. The scallops were rubbery. The beef was tasty but came as four very thin slices for a table of four people and was cold. The service was very, very slow and the price was $95 per person plus drinks, gratuity of 23% automatically added on and tax. For that price the food and service should have been impeccable. Unfortunately they were not. A huge disappointment. We won't be going back.
