Cedar Knoll has a wonderful location on the Parkway. They do not serve brunch on Sunday which is disappointing. The service was very good.

The halibut my wife got was beyond horrible. Very average service, and food is over priced for what we got. We have been here several times and this was hands down the worst. Sad because we love the place otherwise.

Really lovely Thanksgiving dinner. The food that was supposed to be warm was warm, the things that were supposed to be cool were coolish, and it was truly a lovely dinner start to finish. We appreciated the music, the service, the wine list, and the seating by the fireplace. Bravo!

While the price is quite expensive, it's well worth the money, and cost is as I expected it to be for the circumstances.

The food was outstanding, as was the service, and the ambience. 10/10 would eat here again.

Amazing service! Wonderful ambience and awesome location which can't be duplicated! Perfect for a date night or special occasion. However, the food was overall 2.5 out of 5 stars. We had the Autumnal bisque which was amazing along with the fresh bread! That is where it ended. We had the Veal Scallopini (best dish out of three), Crab cakes, and Halibut with lobster and pork dumplings. All dishes were "good" but were not "great". Not sure what it was but they lacked the OMG feeling when you take the first bite. We kind of expected more "flavor"; especially at the price point of the restaurant. As far as the noise level, it started out wonderful until the place filled up especially with a large birthday party then it got loud sometimes. Overall, kinda disappointed but we will come back in the future to see if it is better. We really want to see them succeed.

It was a cute setting. The food was overpriced for what the quality is. Not really sure who our server was, I think we had at least 8 different people come to our table.

Meh. We wanted to love this place, but it was disappointing for what it should be. First, our table was squeezed in almost at the front door. It felt like grand central station with all the staff and guests moving constantly around us on all sides. We felt rushed at every turn. The waitress arrived to take our drink order about 30 seconds after we were seated. We asked for a few minutes and when she came back, she wanted our drink and food order. After trying just to order the first course, we were told that “kitchen recommends putting in your entire order at once, but the courses will be spaced out.” That proved untrue. So we had to place our entire order within 3 minutes of being seated. The cheese plate was plopped down without any explanation of what was on it. And our mains arrived just as we finished our appetizers, with no time to pause, consult the wine list for the next course, breath, digest, etc. We were pretty turned off so we skipped dessert. Staff was attentive and pleasant, just not well trained for the caliber of restaurant this portends to be. Food was good but nothing extraordinary or memorable. Our romantic dinner was over in 65 minutes door to door. We won’t be back.

Food, service, beverages and environment are outstanding. We can recommend everything we tried - halibut with lobster dumplings, venison, fried chicken, barbecue ribs and brisket, vegetarian tart, autumn bisque and Virginia Oysters Rockefeller. Outstanding craft cocktails, nice wine selection. The most attentive service we’ve received in a long time. Make this a destination, and allow time to savor every aspect of your dining experience here.

Service was really slow. Once we got our food, the server didn’t check on us the entire time. We had to get her attention to get the wine menu, but she never came back to place my order. After we were done with dinner, we waited for her to ask for the check, but she never came to the table. We got up and walked to the bar to ask for the check.

We’ll come back with the hopes that this was just a one time thing, and can get better service next time.

I called on Sunday for a reservation and was told no for Tuesday. I checked online and was able to get a reservation. I would make all reservations online. We showed up and the place was dead. They did have a large party later in the night on the outside patio.
It was my birthday. We did not share that with the restaurant. Drinks were amazing. The Virginia gentleman, Prosecco, espresso martini, and the Tawny Port wine.
Appetizers we got the harvest salad and autumn bisque. Both were very good. Salad had a nice cream dressing. Brisket and ribs were good. Brisket was a little fatty. The crab cakes and mashed potatoes were excellent. Definitely jumbo lump crab meat!
No bake cheese cake did not need marshmallow fluff on top.
Peanut pie was very good. It was on the menu but we were told it would be a few minutes and then they came back and said it would be 30 minutes. We decided to wait and requested to take our drinks in another room with comfortable leather couches and a fireplace. It would have been nice if the fire place was on but still very relaxing while we waited. The peanut butter pie was definitely worth the wait. We were served and waited on by many people. All who were very nice and extremely professional. They are a team for sure. Beautiful view of the Potomac river.

We took some out of town visitors to Cedar Knoll for dinner last night (10/8). We were highly satisfied with most of the experience. The wait time after ordering was excruciatingly long. Maybe 1 hour? But the food and service were very good. The wooden chairs in dining room are a little too uncomfortable for a 2 hour dinner.

What an amazing view the restaurant has overlooking the Potomac River. The food is delicious and the presentation is artistic. The waitstaff friendly and efficient. Live music by very talented musicians-Gypsy King-esque-T-Th makes this a fun evening for couples and out of town guests. The chefs know what they’re doing and the dishes are prepared well. The drink menu is also unique and prepared well. It would be great to see some specials on the menu just to show off their creativity. One of our favorite places!

I made a 1 PM reservation for the outdoor patio. Upon arrival, the hostess politely informed us that there was a private event scheduled later for the patio & they would need to begin setting up at 3 PM, so we could sit outside for 2 hours, or we could be seated indoors if we wanted to be more leisurely.

I appreciated the advance notice, and we chose to sit indoors in the beautiful, light filled Botanical Room which had walls of sun-drenched windows overlooking the patio, with gorgeous views of the Potomac River.

It was perfect, because we were extremely leisurely with our time & stayed until 5:30 (with NO pressure from staff to leave) and we were able to witness the patio's transformation into a beautiful wedding reception venue.

We were so impressed by Cedar Knoll that we asked to speak with their Events Manager, Jessica, about hosting our own event there in a few weeks. Additionally, we loved the lush, colorful floral designs used for the reception and were able to speak with the very talented floral designer, Angel Dean Collins of Efflorescence Designs, regarding our event. Seeing how the patio transformed into an intimate party space helped finalize our decision to book a party there as well.

Besides delectable food, one of the main deciding factors for selecting Cedar Knoll to host our upcoming party was the caliber of service from each staff member we encountered. All were polite, informative, and attentive but unobtrusive.

In particular, I greatly appreciated that they had been properly instructed to NOT remove plates until ALL DINERS in the party had finished eating each course. It is a pet peeve (and can quickly ruin a nice meal) when servers clear away individual diners' plates while others in their party are still finishing. Sadly, too few fine dining establishments are aware of this important etiquette point. Cedar Knoll staff have clearly been well & properly trained to provide a welcoming experience to their guests. Kudos to Cedar Knoll!
