Ceci Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
A member of our party called 2 hrs. before our reservation requesting a table for two others at the same time of our reservation and was told nothing was available. When we arrived, at least four tables were open from our reservation until we left. Very disappointing for the other party.
The meal and service were fine.
We LOVED this resturant! Outstanding food and service. One in our party is gluten sensitive and he had numerous options available to him. When he ordered a gluten free entree, the wait staff automatically brought him gluten free bread. He loved his meal as did everyone in our party. I highly recommend Cici's.
The food and portions were very good but I felt entirely rushed between courses. The salads came right after the bread and we barely had made a dent in our salads when the entrees were served. Further, I no sooner put down my fork and they were asking if I was done. I felt as if the bus staff were hovering. It's not even as if the restaurant were packed. I'll give it one more try because I did enjoy the food and ambiance.
I chose Ceci because it was near the Roundabout Theater on W. 46th St. a block away. The menu offers traditional Italian from pizzas to pastas. The friendliness of the place was outdone by the service and delicious food. The angel hair pasta with mussels, clams, calamari and shrimp is no miss. The fabulous beet salad as a starter can be shared. The crusty bread is served oven hot. What was picked for its location to a theater can easily become a go-to place in the future. What a wonderful midtown surprise!
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, service was great as well. The only thing we noticed was we didn't get bread prior to our meal. No big deal breaker, but we are used to a basket of bread prior to a meal in an Italian restaurant.
We’ve been in New York for a week. This was the only disappointing meal. The menu looked good and the reviews were ok. We made a reservation but no-one asked when we arrived. My rigatoni pasta was over cooked and bland. My wife had lobster ravioli. This was cooked better but was still bland. My daughter had soggy pizza. I should have complained really but the staff seemed indifferent so I suspect it would have been fruitless. Maybe it was a bad day. In my view though this restaurant represents very poor value for money.
This is a return visit for us. With so many restaurants in New York we rarely return to any. We are always on the lookout for a special place. Ceci has become that. Loved the shrimp tempura appetizer. It was great to share. The veal Freddo and chicken melanzana are favorites. Enjoy!
We selected Ceci Italian Restaurant after reading reviews on Open Table as a pre-theater dinner spot on a Saturday night. We made a 6:00 reservations with an 8pm curtain a bit across town and a couple of blocks uptown. Our meal was paced nicely and the Restaurant was obviously aware of it's patrons being there for a pre-theater dinner. I ordered the Seafood Risotto and was very please with the result. There was an abundance of calamari that was cooked perfectly, with three very large shrimp and a mix of clams and mussels. The tomato-based sauce was not too overpowering and quite delicious. My wife and son both enjoyed their dishes very much as well. I would recommend Ceci as a very nice pre-theater dinner option.
Ceci's was great! I have many allergies other than gluten, and our waitress assured me that I'd be well taken care of and certainly delivered. The wait staff was warm, accommodating, and on top of their game. Lovely and pleasant surprise to have stumbled upon!
The food here is very good, but very expensive - which is somewhat expected at a high-end restaurant near Rockefeller Center. They have gluten-free options and I have Celiac and have eaten here twice and not had a problem. I had two glasses of Knob Creek Bourbon and was charged a total of $36. I can buy an entire bottle for $30. I know drinks are expensive in NYC but that's excessive. The service is great, the gluten-free pasta is delicious - they even have gluten-free bread, which was a bit dry but still tasty. My friend had chicken and really liked it. Dinner and drinks for two came to $150.
Cici on 46th street in Manhattan was completely unremarkable. The Caesar salad was consisted of dry lettuce with shaved cheese, but no noticeable dressing. The main courses were not flavorful, but bland. The service was okay, but somewhat aloof. Not a good experience. Pick another place. There are so many.
