Ceci Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We loved our visit to Ceci. There were many people waiting but we had a reservation and they seated us right away. We had kids too and they had a kid menu. The food was wonderful, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Lobster ravioli was my fav of all and the calamari was perfectly crisp and not greasy. Would go back for a chance to try more.
The service I received was excellent. First off I had a 6 p.m. reservation and when I got there 5 minutes prior to my reservation they seated me right away. The staff was excellent and answer any questions I had about gluten free menu items. My girlfriend cannot have gluten so the great part about this was that a very large of their items are gluten free. Finally the food was awesome! If if you delicious Italian eat here.. If you are gluten free eat here. If you want to impress a date but not break the bank eat here
The place was empty. We asked to not be seated in a booth and we were told there were no other tables when clearly there were. The portions are TINY. We waited 45 minutes between appetizers and entree. Certainly NOT worth the wait. Expense for the portion sizes. I would NEVER go back given the endless choices in NYC.
Osso buco was excellent but the fried cheese appetizer was terrible-all oil smell and taste. The lobster ravioli came highly recommended but my husband only found it so-so. Restauarant was decorated nice for the holiday, and the noise level was appropriate, no need to yell just to speak to your table companions. Just far enough off Times Square to recollect your sanity before diving back into shopping or theatre crowds.
We needed a nearby post-theater dining spot that was nicer than burgers or pizza but wouldn't break the bank, and where we could get a reservation - this filled the bill. That said, the menu was large, and our shared salad, both pastas, the bread and olive oil and the wine, were all very, very tasty. It was pricey for a neighborhood joint, but it's midtown, after all, and we couldn't complain about any of our choices in the least. The (older., for Manhattan ...) waiter was of the somewhat-grumpy old- school school, and we kind of got a kick out of him. Like, he goes to work, serves, and goes home to Queens or New Jersey and his family - no aspiring actor "Hi my name is" here...! He didn't even glance at us as we left or acknowledge our departure, which did leave me feeling a bit ..."well!" , even if we did find his 'checked-out' demeanor amusing. But apart from that his service wasn't lacking. Just felt like he was annoyed to be there!
The arugula salad is excellent and Lasagna perfectly prepared and served. The bread is crusty and served hot accompanied by olive oil at table. Also enjoyed was baked clams oreganata and linguini with whole fresh clams. The meals served are plentiful, hot from kitchen, and pasta al dente. We did not have room for dessert. Wine selection is also very good. My husband and I will return to Ceci.
Restaurant took 11:30 reservartion. At 11:30, nobody unlocking the door, ignoring us while cleaning inside, not answering the phone. At 11:37, we were finally let in. Commented to waiter about the wait, and was told "do you want to eat hear or not". Food was standard tourist / midtown business lunch level.
We had a great night at Ceci's. Last minute date night, got a reservation no problem on a Saturday night. We were not rushed at all, the food was incredible, completely reasonable pricing, great ambiance- playing Christmas music while eating. The decorations were very cute for Christmas time and right by the Rockefeller Tree! Not one bad thing to say about this restaurant.
I grew up in New Jersey, And I know good Italian food. This food was wonderful. It was a very good restaurant and I would deftly recommended to anyone coming into Manhattan due to its good food and its close proximity to Rockefeller center and Radio City Music Hall
Meals were awesome. Lobster ravioli was great , pasta primavera was very good as well. Apps were fresh and hot. Desert was lacking - overall, the meal and service was so great I still kept my rating at 5 stars. The server noticed we left a small shopping bag under the table and within 5 minutes of leaving, my cell phone was ringing. ( we used open table to book the reservation).
I would highly recommend this establishment...the owner(assumed) was genuinely interested in making sure the little things were tended to. My wife selected a nice wine and my water glass was never empty.
We had a 6:30 reservation before an 8pm show. The host warned us that the time was short and that we should order quickly so that the kitchen could accommodate us. We quickly ordered as soon as we were seated, and then ordered our drinks. The salad came quickly and dinner took a bit longer but we were all satisfied with our meals. We made the show (dessert not necessary) with no trouble.
We were very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was not quality and seemed more like a reheated TV dinner than a restaurant prepared meal. I find it hard to believe that they had the rating they have. The food was very dry and the waitress seemed more interested at her conversations with the other staff than waiting on any tables. I have had better meals eating in at Wholefoods ! My wife loved it when we walked in talked about having a private party there but the quality of the food and service killed that idea! The dessert was nothing more than some ice cream in a frozen paper cup with a raspberry on top, no presentation at all. As we left we both commented that we should have just bought a ice cream cone from a truck on the street since it would of been better. This was our pre "Springsteen on Broadway" dinner and I paid $2K over face for my Springsteen tickets and I had no complaints after the show excepted this dinner was brutal !
My family and I went to Ceci Restaurant for Thanksgiving while we were in NY. We chose Ceci because we were able to order off the menu and it was in a great location. Most restaurants were serving a fixed turkey dinner. The service was great and our meals were delicious.
