Ceci Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were there to spend a lot of money and have a great night yet halfway through our meal we saw our server leave and slowly but surely they began to close the restaurant up around us without ever giving us a last call or notifying us that they were trying to get us to leave until they actually turned the music off and began raising the lights and we had to ask them point blank if they were trying to make us leave. Mind you, this all happened more than 30 minutes before their listed closing time online and we still intended to get dessert and another round or two of drinks. They never mentioned they were closing early and they did not communicate at all and when we were displeased they were nonresponsive. Terrible service and mediocre food for too high of a price point. Definitely will recommend people not come here!
Unfortunately I was looking for pizza close to my hotel and when I searched through the Open Table App, Ceci popped up. I looked at the menu and yes they had homemade pizza on the menu and the pics looked good. It was a miserable evening of rain, but I decided not to stay in and keep my reservation. When I got there and was promptly seated, I got the menu and ordered a glass of wine. Mysteriously, no pizza at all on the menu. I was confused. So when the waiter walked by again I inquired and he said oh they ran out of pizza. It was a Saturday night granted, but nobody was in the restaurant. And I found it curious that no pizza was on the menu at all. I felt duped, so I kindly paid for my wine and went out into the rain to find another destination. Using Yelp, I found a restaurant right across the street who had delicious brick over personal pizzas. Delicious. Too bad Ceci did not have the same. By the way, not one apology, better explanation, etc. Frankly they seemed happy I was leaving. Maybe they all wanted to go home.
Great Gluten Free options!! Incredible, really. I had the Gluten Free ravioli (was great) and they also brought GF bread to the table (along with regular). My husband and son also enjoyed their meals. Restaurant was very hot, which was strange - but it seemed to cool down as the meal went on. Went after taking in a show, and were dressed very casually (jeans).
Ceci was a great find in the theater district. Well-repaired and presented food that we all (7 of us) found to be quite tasty - nicely cooked, delicious sauces, good portion sizes. Service was very attentive (picked up on my allergy to gluten and brought GF bread to the table, unprompted, as well as a drink menu). Would definitely recommend!
Went there with friends, really enjoyed it. We had reservation at 10pm, so it was really quiet at this time of a day (although it was Friday night ). The food was good, the services very nice. We stayed past closing time, but weren't rushed at all. Very cozy, very friendly place. Definitely coming back.
My sister and I went to Ceci Italian Restaurant prior to seeing Springsteen on Broadway and had a wonderful experience. Had a nice table in front of the window and ordered a drink and a nice basket of bread was served. We both decided to pick from the price fixe dinner . We chose a salad , which was nicely presented in a cucumber wrap and was excellent. We both had eggplant parmesan which was also excellent and had another drink. I had the tiramisu for dessert and she chose the NY style cheesecake. Both were very good also. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and would highly recommend Ceci Italian Restaurant.
Ceci was fine - A good price for the pre-matinee Express lunch. Great hot bread and good olive oil for starters. Our main complaint was the service. Everyone was nice and friendly, but they kept clearing plates as each person finished instead of waiting till both of us were done with the course. A big no-no as it puts pressure on the person who hasn't finished yet.
Went after seeing Phantom of the Opera and it was okay, but probably won't be going back. Pretty reasonably priced entrees for the area, but things like $6.50 for soft drinks without free refills and overpriced appetizers add up pretty quickly. Overall I didnt think it was worth what we paid hence the two stars for value. Seating felt more like a diner than a restaurant and it's a pretty small place. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Went to Ceci after a matinee show on a Saturday . Had a reservation for 3 and we changed it to 4 people, no problem. Service was great. Food was wonderful! Two of us were gluten free. They brought us gluten free warm bread and a majority of the meals can be made gluten free. Caesar salad had gf croutons. Had a gf baked pasta with meat sauce and ricotta and mozzarella. Fantastic! Topped it off with gluten free dense chocolate cake. Very happy! Will definitely return.
It was good for a group. We loved the seating in the wine cellar! Well for everyone but the person who was sat with her back in a bunch of bottles of wine!
The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant.
The one issue we had is that we brought 14 teenagers. We were told that pizza was on the menu before we arrived. When we were there we were told they didn't make pizzas. It is on your website. So if it is not available for some reason it should be made clear.
The food was very tasty, well prepared, portions were generous...... The service was attentive, everyone we interacted with was very pleasant...... I would definitely recommend coming here..... Excellent for before or after theater dining.... We would definitely return.....
Very good service, food was amazing, so many gluten free options too which was so nice to have for a change (GF cheese ravioli with light pink sauce was delicious!) even got some. We are visiting from Australia and went to this restaurant with my family of 4 for a birthday dinner. Very happy with our evening and would visit again if we ever come back to NYC!
Well, pleasantly surprised. Ive read the reviews and decided it was worth a shot. Glad we did it. It was very good. Service is great. And since most of the customers were going to the theatre they know how to sit and serve you in time to get to the show. We went with the prix fixe dinner for $41. Well worth it. The special salad was really good. Then had the chicken with mushrooms and artichokes. One of the best I had in a long time. We also had an eggplant parm which was very good. The sauce is just the right amount of spice and not heavy. The pasta side was al dente. and the Eggplant good just right. To finish off we had a biscuit tortoni - vanilla ice cream with toasted almonds. Havent had one in years and this was just as good as I remember. We will definitely be back next time in town. Give it a try -- but make a reservation. It fills us fast around 610pm.
This authentic Italian restaurant right in the heart of Mid-town NYC was a wonderful find. A quiet respite from the crowds around the theater district, we enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring beautiful and tasty dishes served with a smile and friendly service. I look forward to returning.
Martini was not only NOT 'very dry' -- it was watered down; crabcake was so burnt on the bottom I had trouble cutting it; we requested shared appetizers -- no sharing provided, had to ask for a plate; then only one plate laid on the table and we had to split it up ourselves. Ceci's nothing like it used to be. To make matters worse, we were there at a quiet time (only three or four other tables in use). They won't see us or our friends again.
