We chose Ceci for a pre-theater dinner because of the good reviews and its location near the theater. We split the house salad, which was sort of limp and not very special. Our entrees were better: Linguini alla Vongole and the Fiocchi Quattro Formagi. The Fiocchi was different from most pasta dishes and very good -- little pasta bundles of pear and cheese, which made the dish somewhat sweet, in a truffle butter sauce. The Linguini had a generous amount of clams and my partner said it was also very good. We were grateful that the noise level wasn't that loud so that we could have a conversation. The service was okay: plates were whisked away the moment the food was finished, even though we would've wanted to hold on to the bread plates longer. And the salad took too long to arrive. But wait staff were friendly and otherwise attentive.
Surprisingly good food in a touristy area. Amazing service, recommendations were spot on! I’d go back.
I went to Ceci with two kids with allergies. One to gluten and a second child with dairy and treenuts. I had made a note in my reservation and as soon as we walked in, they knew exactly who we were. They assured me of the preparation of the foods to minimize cross contamination. The food was delicious and service exceptional. Will definitely return. Thank you for taking good care of us.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, great service. Definitely recommend.
Perfect for lunch before our Broadway show. My daughter and I both had personal pizzas...Bianca and Margherita. Both were very good and prices were reasonable.
This was a lovely meal of Italian food. We enjoyed a good salad, vegetable risotto and veal marsala. The entire experience was very good. Ceci is located near 6th avenue. This is an easy walk to the theater district.
We wanted a place that was quiet with uncomplicated food for a post Broadway show meal for 11 people . We got great service , good food and an unhurried environment. What we wanted and were very pleased
The fresh bread is served warm with crispy crust and is fantastic. The individual pizzas are quite good with fresh mozzarella. Pasta dishes were ok not good. The Alfredo and carbonara sauces were just not well seasoned cream, the latter with some common bacon. Added salt and cheese to eat it. The pasta was cooked fine just sauce lacked in taste so don’t recommend those dishes. Pasta portion is generous if your hungry.
Again the bread was delicious and warm! Service was attentive and fast.
Delicious food. Friendly service. Most of their desserts are not made in-house.
Goed eten, vriendelijk personeel en een leuke sfeer.
We visited Ceci based on the reviews we read and it did not disappoint. The service was great, food was delicious and wine paired with our meal was fabulous. We also ordered specialty drink off the cocktail menu, which was very tasty. Definitely will dine here again.
Came with my family, the food was great, service was nice but not completely attentive, dark lighting perfect for dates, but small so sounds bounce.
I took a group of 9 business associates to Ceci for dinner. We were all staying just around the corner at the Royalton Hotel. We wanted some local Italian fare with a nice atmosphere in walking distance so we could enjoy some after-work conversation. Ceci was excellent for this event.
I had never dined at Ceci, so we relied on the reviews and photos of the restaurant to make our selection. I think the reviews were very accurate and the photo's did a good job of showing the ambiance of the place. We didn't want something that was uber dark but instead something that was nice and light.
I thought the meal was exceptional value for money. We had some appetizers for the table, a couple of bottles of nice red wine (recommended by the head server), some pre-dinner cocktails, and main meals all around off the menu. Total tab including gratuity was under $1,000, which is my benchmark for events like this. They had a pre-set menu which included a starter, main, and dessert which we didn't take up, but was even better value for money.
Service was solid. It was a Thursday evening, so perhaps not a very busy time, but we never lacked for attention.
My guess is that Ceci has a solid local clientele, based on my observations of some folks coming in and out throughout the evening. It is always nice to find a "local favorite" when in the City, and if I'm staying at the Royalton in the future, Ceci will be on my must stop locations.
The food was absolutely wonderful and it was nice to get away from the insanity of Times Square. The service was a tiny bit slow, and I would definitely recommend reservations as the dining room is very small.
Loved everything, the food was outstanding, we shared a personal margarita pizza as an appetizer, perfect size! I had the pork osso bucco very tender and flavorful, my wife had the carbonara and she was very happy, the wine suggested was a perfect match! Enhanced the flavor! The service was very attentive! The waitress suggested the lava cake! It was great!
Hadn't been in years, but will return, food was well
I love this place! The only bad thing was that the menu didn’t specify that my entree came with a salad, so I ordered the same salad as an appetizer.
Variety of things for lunch, including a build your own salad. Appetizers were also big enough for aa lunch. Close to the theater, so I would go back.
We came for a business lunch. One of our party was late in arriving but we had all of our food and were the door out in an hour. The food was excellent and the service was just as good.
Nice quaint little restaurant. We went to eat dinner before a show. The food was excellent and the service was fair. The waitress was busy with other customers, when we asked for drinks she forgot us multiple times. They need more help, at least the night we were there.
The food was amazing but the service was horrible. I finally called someone to the table and asked them if we could get a server since we had not been greeted and had been seated 20 minutes. I mean we had already had our water glasses filled multiple times before we saw someone to take our order. The waitress approached our table and said “your ready to order?” and though she did provide a small amount of assistance when we were we ordering she was short and rude throughout the whole process. Only after she put in our order, close to 30 minutes after our arrival, were we given a basket of bread. Our food came out fairly quickly and was absolutely amazing. Our party of four had the seafood salad, pasta carbonara, pasta and meatballs, and lasagna, all of which were truly amazing. Our server not once came back and checked on us or the food. After about 20 minutes of eating and enjoying our food, we stared to wait for the checks. Once we started having server assistants offer to pick out our plates, I walked up to the bar and had to request our checks, as she had not come back to the our table or even glanced our way for me to catch her eye and ask for the checks. I brought the checks back to the table and it then was close to 10 minutes before she came back and got them from us.
Overall, probably not worth a visit, there are better places I eat at with much better hospitality. Truly not sure how this restaurant has such high ratings, unless Ariana was just the one bad apple of a server.
It is a good value restaurant with great Italian food
Dissapointing. Food was bland. Service was ok but nothing to rave about. Not sure where all these great reviews came from.
Mother’s Day dinner
We waited 45min+ for our food. People who came in after us received their food 15-20 minutes before we did. When food finally arrived, it was staggered, 5-10 min later for the last person in our party. Food was average.
The food and service was like at a basic pizzeria, but the price was like an upscale restaurant.
Great food and ambiance with reasonable prices for theatre district. Plan on going back!
Excellent food, service, location and overall Italian vibe.
Had my son's college celebration dinner here. Fabulous! And I was worried because I had never been here bedore
We were celebrating mu daughters graduation, food was very good and the service was good as well. It was a nice atmosphere in the middle of NYC with average prices.
We got to the restaurant on time for our reservation, we waited at the hostess booth with servers and staff walking by ignoring us for about 20 minutes. Once they finally came over was when someone who was about 25 minutes late for their reservation and sat them before us. We waited another 10 minutes before a bar spot opened up and we just sat there. Food was so delicious!!! But I wouldn’t go back to put up with that horrible service. There are other great places in NYC with equally good food and less horrible service.
Dinner before a broadway show. The exterior is unassuming, but the food is fantastic and service very good. Price for the portion was a bit high but overall we had a great time!
Pre-play dinner. Friendly waitstaff. We split a Caesar salad and had the lasagna and lamb chops. We finished with tiramisu and cappuccinos. Food was good, restaurant is cozy and a nice reprieve from the crazy Times Square crowd. Let the waiter know we had to make a play and they accommodated accordingly. Well return next time we are seeing a show. Prices were very reasonable.
Very knowledgable about gluten-free options. Good food, good atmosphere.
Food was delicious and the prices were good for NYC. I would go again.
Good food. Wide variety of gluten-free options (apps, entrees), including a delicious GF dinner roll.
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. They were very accommodating.
It’s very average restaurant, nothing there to recommend
We were visiting for the weekend. Found this restaurant online and it had great reviews. The food was delicious as was the wine we chose to have with it. The noise was a bit loud and the service was very good.
