CECCO Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Short Rib Tortellini and Mushroom Rav's were very good. Nice Caesar salad... something was off with the staff from the minute we walked in ...it was reflected in the inconsistent service. But definitely worth a try... we may have hit an off night. Individually everyone was very nice. We sat at a high top in the bar area... it was a little annoying having a light on a motion censor go on and off every time someone walked by.
Great patio or indoor dining. We like outdoors when the evenings are nice.
We usually have salad, fried oysters (yum) and share a pizza from their wood oven, many great flavors to choose from or share a pasta dish.
They seem to do a great job hiring waitresses. They have always been awesome.
My hubby lives the wild boar ragu and my salmon was delish. Would especially like to give a shout-out to our waitress: she was most attentive and took great care to make sure some requests we made regarding the preparation of our meals was done just right...thank you!
It's difficult to find REALLY authentic Italian restaurants anywhere these days; and you would think it impossible to do so in Solvang....
Until you visit Cecco!!!
From the way they serve olive oil and balsamic with bread (the best bread I've had in a while), to the authentic dishes, you'll know right away that you hit the spot if you're accustomed to a particular standard for Italian cuisine.
Service, ambiance, blah blah blah, was superb. Perfect, really. But it's always irrelevant when the typical disappointment sets in upon realization you're in a restaurant that just does Italian. Well, Cecco Ristorante IS Italian. There's even a guy (probably the owner) who will bust your chops if you like!
The appetizers were ridiculous: the arugula with burrata and beets was unbelievable, as was the classy Caprese, done with a bit of pesto... OMG. But best of all were the paste and secondi. Not many places will do a fine carbonara or Bolognese, which we didn't try but will next time. But we had the panzerotti (ravioli) and almost died. For me it was the sage -- another clue we hit an authentic joint. The bistecca was also knock-out. And for a guy who eats very "clean" and healthy, it was perfect because the portions were generous, and the vegetables were done so right.
Even if you're in Santa Barbara, do you really want to gamble on some "nice" place which poses as an Italian restaurant but really doesn't know what it's doing except pounding your wallet? Infinitely more worth it is the short spin north into Solvang, with zero risk of disappointment at Cecco -- a completely unexpected authentic Italian gem.
It is our regular " before play" meal . It is always good Italian food and we can get our meal comfortably finished and in time to get to the Solvang open air theater performance. Their pizzas are excellent and they also have a nice selection of salads and pastas. Service is good also.
I sought out CECCO for my pre-race meal before the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon last May. It was perfect. The pastas were very good and the portions were not too large. The wine list was, as you expect, more than adequate. Highly recommend if you're in the Solvang area.
Quaint restaurant in a courtyard. In the summer great place to eat outside and would recommend that. Great wine selection. Staff attentive until the party of 4 who must have known the owner showed up an received special menu options directly from the chef. Although I think this is a wonderful idea, it should be done in a private room and not in front of the general public.
I don't have much to say about the experience at Cecco. It came as a recommendation from a local during a couples' trip to Solvang. When we arrived, the restaurant was about empty (around 7:00pm) and a bit chilly inside. We ordered wine from the teenage server, who wasn't terribly attentive despite the quiet restaurant. She and her compatriots mostly seemed concerned about getting the place cleaned and closed. My companion had a nice pasta dish. Meanwhile, my tomato "soup" was something we suspect came straight from a marinara can, no alterations except some fresh basil on top. The espresso, on the upside, was top notch. Maybe I'd give them another try…but I doubt we'll be back to Solvang since it wasn't really our scene at night.
The meal was delicious and the intimate feel of the restaurant was perfect. We dined with 6 in our party and each of us enjoyed our meal. Three of us split a beautiful gourmet pizza with fresh salads. Two dined of short rib raviolis that were beautiful and melted in your mouth. A spaghetti plate with wild boar was a favorite at our table. Service was excellent and it was an extremely busy weekend as we dined during Danish Days. There was a lovely patio area with a private party going on which did not distract from our experience at all. We will definitely be back for another special meal. Thank you. Cecco!! The Shaws
I have been there several times and it always is nice. The food is good and the service is consistent. When one sits outside, one can watch the passers by. The best tiramisu can be had there! The entrees are a bit pricey for what you get. I usually stick with sharing a pizza and a nice salad.
Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The food was good, though there wasn't a single chicken dish on the menu that night. My wife settled for the Carbonara without the pork...we picked an Italian restaurant to have pasta; pasta only came with pork or beef that night. They didn't even have chicken that could be have served on the side...just seemed a bit too limited. Everything else was delicious...even the meat-less Carbonara, but my pasta with a pesto had far too much olive oil...it was swimming. And there were an enormous number of flies all during dinner! Not too appetizing. For as expensive as dinner was for three ($90) seems they could have been more generous with the bread (very small amount) or at least offer to refill it.
The outside patio is a nice atmosphere the food is good service is fair. The ladies did not seem as friendly as they should be.
Like they wanted to be elsewhere instead if work. The computer was down so they asked everyone to pay in cash which we barely scrapped together. They need a old fashion back up plan.
Waitress was ok... Out of the wine I choose, the only by the glass Pinot on the menu? The salad was over dressed and some of the arugula was slimmy,, crust on pizza was really good. We live in town, never hear great things about this. Restaurant, our 2nd time and last time eating there. We're locals.
Made a reservations since it was a holiday weekend. We would given several choices on the location of our seating. We decided to seat outside.
The food was excellent. We ordered a caprese salad, calamari, and a pizza. The server was a bit slow and unorganized. However the food outweighed the slow service. I would eat there again.
Was late with reservations so missed out on our first few choices. As we like Italian food we figured we'd try this restaurant. First timers but definitely not last timers. The service was outstanding on such a busy night and the food was nothing short of remarkable. Great wine list too. It's not cheap but for us it was money very well spent.
here's the thing, when you go to a kitschy town like solvang you know you aren't going to get the best anything but we were definitely happy with our meal. is it great, no, but it was good. if we were in solvang again i'd go back but i wouldn't make any special trips just do go to cecco.
My wife and I had our Valentine's Dinner at Cecco. She loves raviolis and the ones we got were awesome. We split them, and that was a good thing. She, nor I, would have wanted to eat a full portion. In addition to tasting great, they are quite rich. And, we also had a pizza to eat, the Wild Boar Sausage. It too was great.
The only downside was the noise, a bit loud for my taste. Other than that, we will be back.
