Disappointed with service. Took over an hour to take order. Yikes! Lovely place though.
Valentines Day. For a $288 dinner for two, we were very disappointed overall considering the ambience. Our hostess brought us to our reserved table and we stood waiting for them to finish setting the table. After I was seated, I noticed a very yellow/orange stain at my place setting that was very distracting. Prior to our entree arriving, the manager apologized that they were out of the filet mignon (which was 1 of 3 entree choices for the evening) and offered a flank steak. My entree was 3 small scallops with no side or starch. The rest of our bill included 4 drinks. Unfortunately, the service was mediocre and we were very disappointed in ourselves the next day for not sharing our disappointment with the manager prior to leaving. What was more upsetting was that we enjoy fine dining and disappointed in ourselves for paying for a $300 meal and the manager or service persons did not reduce or offer us a drink.
Terrible experience, albeit in the craziness of Valentines evening, table of four, set menu, two vegetarians, nothing came out correctly. Vegetarian menu was a pour attempt at haute cuisine. They kept champagne flowing freely for free, so I think they recognized the issues. But still.
Great outdoor atmosphere, easy for conversation. good food and service
The hostess seated us at our reservation time. We waited 15 minutes before my husband went to find a waiter. The manager came to bring us water and take drink order. When a randomly appointed waiter came he brought the wrong drink. My husband went back to manager and he brought the correct drink out. Random waiter showed back up about 20 minutes later to take our order. He was unpleasant to say the least. Rude, short, and uninterested is how I would describe him. We ate when food was brought. No one returned after food delivered. We waited and waited wanting to order dessert but again no one came to even ask or refill water or see if I wanted another drink - which I did. My husband got up - YET AGAIN- to actually ask if we could get our check. Absolutely horrible experience! Would not recommend or revisit.
I was at Cavatina for my friends birthday one year ago and the food was mediocre. Decided to give it another chance after reading all reviews and came to celebrate anniversary with my wife yesterday, on a Tuesday. We really enjoyed our experience and the dinner this time! The food was delicious especially that tuna crudo!! The presentation of oysters was outstanding!! Service was quick, attentive and our server described all dishes very well. The blonde lady (I guess the manager of the restaurant) was very nice and checked on us several times wishing us happy anniversary. Love this restaurant. Will definitely come back again.
We love Cavatina. A little bit of paradise. Food is good, lots of ambiance and great service (ask for Gustavo)
Really loved this place! I came for brunch with my whole family. We had a beautiful table on the patio and our server Sebastian was great. He was refilling our mimosas in a timely manner and was friendly and professional. Food was delicious! They have a Russian manager there, who spoke in Russian with us and was very nice (we speak Russian too), so that was cool! Overall, really enjoyed our brunch at Cavatina and planning to make it our regular Sunday brunch place from now on! Higly recommend!
I love Cavatina and have dined here many times, each time feeling great about the food, service, ambiance and reasonable price (for LA). We have invited several friends to dine who have never been to Cavatina and they have also loved the dining experience.
We were staying at the hotel, and didn't want to go out. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty and our hostess had us pick a table. It was chilly that night, heaters were on and very comfortable. Service was very fast and efficient. Food was excellent, prepared well, octopus was very tender, tuna sashimi wonderful and spicy, truffle mushroom risotto amazing. Too full for desert! Nice wine list, excellent cocktails .
We went for NYE. We knew there was a pre-set menu but their was no alternative for non-pork eaters and the potion size of the entree was ridiculous!!
Would not recommend this restaurant. My husbands burger was cold. My pasta tasted like pre-packaged cheese sauce. I ordered an old fashioned and it tasted awful, no idea what they thought they were making, and it was served in a martini glass.
Our waiter disappeared for almost our entire meal, and we shared multiple fill-in waiters. Even though there was hardly anyone there, and we had just sat down.
This place is very expensive and expectation was it would be a nice night out. Unfortunately it was over priced food, that tasted terrible and ruined the night. Avoid it.
Poor service in an otherwise elegant venue. Waiter broke the cork on a $125 wine bottle and rather than bringing new Bottle, took the damaged bottle to back and filtered into a decanter and charged us full price even after I let him know I saw him braking it.
Too expensive and the food wasn’t that great. There was also a problem with the heater and lastly they charged us a tip on 30 dollars... Plus we didn’t get our change back!
I’ve dined at Cavatina numerous times before and always love it. Tonight we had the most wonderful time. The service was impeccable. Our server spoiled us, anticipated our needs and really made our Christmas Eve dinner a delightful experience. They had a special 4 or 5 course menu for this evening and the grilled octopus and lobster saffron spaghetti were standouts. a lovely lovely meal and evening. thank you
Amazing service, superb dishes, especially their spicy tunq crudo appetizer. Absolutely loved it.
Great service, food, and atmosphere
Beautiful ambience with delicious food and wonderful attentive service.
First time for dinner, loved it!
Svetlana made the birthday celebration dinner very special. Will return often!
The ambiance here is really wonderful! Relaxing, lush surroundings, relatively quiet, even when full of diners. Oyster app was outstanding, guacamole was wonderful as well.
Husband’s branzino was perfectly cooked, with a fresh salad accompaniment. The chicken palliard was perfectly cooked( though a bit bland in taste), and a lovely presentation with arugula salad in a DELISH lemon vinaigrette. The fingerling potato side was underwhelming.
The exceptional service and really lovely atmosphere are the star aspects of this place, and we would gladly come back.
Great service and delicious food options. A beautiful setting both inside and out.
I always enjoy going here. The food is really good. And the service is wonderful.
This particular time, our waiter seemed to forget us near the end and I had to hunt him down to get the check. But other than this, the restaurant is truly lovely.
Delicious food and excellent service
One of my favorite places in Los Angeles. Outstanding service. Lovely atmosphere. I would never be worried taking a guest to Cavatina. Whenever I do, he/she comes away delighted.
Great ambiance, food and service..waitress was a doll..this place is a hidden gem
We have dined at Cavatina many times and know that the service can at times be slow. However, this time it was terrible. We had 7:30 reservations, (3 of us) no one took our drink order until about 7:45, we ordered the delicious potato chips at the same time. The chips came quickly and the drinks fairly fast too, however, our waiter seemed to disappear and we finally caught his attention around 8:00 so that we could order our entrees. My husband was the only one to order a starter and he got it about 10 min later, however by 8:30 we had not yet received the rest of our meal. We stopped the waiter around 8:35 to ask where our food was, he apologized and said he had been asking for it and told us it would take about another 10 min. He did then bring my husband a glass of wine on the house. We still had not received our food by 8:50-8:55 so we got up from the table and walked over to the hostess to tell her we were tired of waiting for our food and were leaving. (The other two parties who arrived at the same time as we did or a little later had already finished their dinners). The hostess got the manager and he came over to apologize to us, said he was so sorry, that this had never happened before and he understood how upset we were. We actually did offer to pay for what we had and he said there was no need to do so, covered the valet parking for us, gave us his card and asked that we please come back another time so he could make it up to us. I'm not sure we will be back, although we do love the ambiance (and the potato chips).
I believe that part of the problem with the delay of our meals was due to the fact that they had a private party in the other room. However, they should have either had more help or informed us that there would be a delay in service.
I have been to Cavatina multiple times for the Sunday brunch buffet. We had a group meeting up this past Sunday and to our surprise, the BUFFET NO LONGER EXISTS! We still had a fine time, but it was quite disappointing that this aspect has been changed :(
Love this restaurant! The staff is amazing, food delicious and the atmosphere is the best...beautiful setting! I have never had a bad experience here! Always a good time, great food and service!
What a great place for a date or an intimate outing. The food is great, service is great and the best part is the ambiance and feeling your outdoors out of LA. You won’t be disappointed
Starting from the ambience of the location with waterfalls and foliage to the Restaurant Week three course lunch to the great service, all total up to be an extraordinary experience. I have a business lunch and my client was overjoyed about conducing a meeting under these great circumstances.
Great food and great service in a beautiful environment.
Nice setup, great service, inedible food
My niece was visiting from the East Coast for a business. I thought Cavatina would be a great place for good meal and great atmosphere. It did not disappoint. I highly recommend this restaurant.
All was excellent but the host . I highly recommend Cavatina at Sunset Marquis.
Such a cool place, rock and roll history in beautiful garden setting.
The ambiance can not be beat in all of LA... just love the food, love the location and love the service. What a gem!!!
Lovely setting with table spacing that is refreshingly stout, friendly service and thoughtfully curated wine list make for a pleasant evening despite ho hum food
Great meal! Had an amazing time!
Excellent as always. Seabass is a fantastic server! Love this place so much!
The food and service was excellent, they’ve created an atmosphere of style comfort and quiet with delicious food.
The only challenge is when you valet at the Sunset Marquis Hotel the valets try and rip you off by asking to pay them cash to park your car. The valet wanted $20 cash to park my car but when I went to the restaurant they said with a validation parking only $10.
So I got my receipt validated paid $10 and the valet demanded that I pay him $20 before he gave me my car back. I went back to the front desk and explained what happened and there was a big discussion around parking the valet once realized he was exposed, said OK $10 is fine.
Bottom line. Great restaurant, great atmosphere but hotel valet is that try and take your money
