Cava Ratings and Reviews
Came for a birthday celebration. There were 5 of us and tapas were the perfect way to sample several dishes. The food was amazing. Some of our favorites were: LAMB CRUDO WITH BOQUERONES, ARTICHOKE, AND ALIOLI, EGGPLANT WITH QUESO FRESCO, BONITO, & TOMATILLO SAUCE, ROASTED SABLEFISH WITH BLACK RICE AND COLLARD GREENS
I went to Cava with a group of 6 for a birthday party. We had to add another person at the last minute to the reservation, and the restaurant was very accommodating. Overall, the food was delicious, we sampled about 10 dishes and had a lot of fun. It was a bit loud (we went around 8:30 on a Saturday) so we had to do a bit of talking loud in order to hear each other, but that is almost everywhere on a Saturday evening/night.
The staff were very attentive and we asked them to surprise with a few dishes, which they did. This is a great place for a fancy date night, anniversary, or other special occasion. The food is a bit on the pricey side (we spent just under $600 for 7 people, including tax and tip), but worth since you wouldn't go all the time.
I loved this restaurant and visited it many times. The last three visits, however, have seen a steady decline in my enjoyment of the food. I thought the services was fantastic, as always, but I felt that the food was outright bland. I really want to love this place, but I fear that the chef's attention is distracted.
Excellent restaurant with fantastic food and a good wine list. Great service. The only bad thing you can say about this place is that it's expensive. Eg one single piece of fig "bruschetta" (its called something else in Spanish) is about 5$. If you've got the dollars though it is mouth watering good!
We had a great time at Cava. We let them "cook for us" and we had a superb sequence of high quality tapas. The taps with Foie Grass and the one with eggplants were probably my favourite, but really I enjoyed every one. Service was excellent and friendly. Highly recommended
Extremely friendly staff, and very tasty, creative dishes! We weren't aware until we'd been seated and had drinks that it was only a small-plates menu: it was great, but at $10-20 a dish, it would add up extremely quick. Great for a small dinner, or a special event, but would be a very expensive date night. The staff were brilliant, very helpful, and humorous -- our waiter Luc, offered to choose our dishes for us (but scared of the resulting bill, we passed on the offer).
The menu was interesting and food was well prepared. The staff were attentive and responsive and we actually allowed our server to pick us food choices, he did well. I was not so wowed by the decor, I found it a little lacking in mood and character, beyond the ceiling detail in the central area of the restaurant, in my mind it sort of had a cafeteria feel. It certainly did not play up the Spanish theme.
Food was very good, even though some items were overpriced. The service was lacking in speed and efficiency, though it was friendly. Our server did take a while to take our initial drink order and forgot to deliver our olives even though I ordered them. The ceviche and foie gras were excellent.
Alert to all chocoholics - you MUST try the Chocolate Cremeaux with roasted pears and pecans! My chocoholic was in 7th heaven eating the Chocolate Cremeaux. Gateaux Basque is a splendid dessert too, but no chocolate in it. Now, back to the beginning - great selection of small plate starters - our favourites are poached fois gras and the sherried figs with valdeon. The eggplant dish remains the best and is delicious even if you're not fond of eggplant. Lamb loin with lemon crema was fabulous. Wine list is great, including best selection of half-bottles in the city, which works well if you need both a red and a white. We celebrated with the Cava Torello Mata and were very pleased. SERVICE IS WONDERFUL - helpful, attentive but not intrusive. Dinner at CAVA is always a true pleasure!
