Cava Mezze - DC

Daniela was helpful, pleasant and efficient. The food was magnificent, especially the lamb shank with orzo, octopus and Brussels sprouts.
While we were there relatively late on a weekday night; the tasting platter we ordered was somewhat dry and over cooked- as if it had been grilled earlier- and was sitting under a heat lamp for a couple of hours. The chicken skewers, the meatballs and the gyro meat were all overdone and too dry
This was our second visit to Cava Mezze and we enjoyed it even more the second time around! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect for a date night. Looking forward to coming back in the summer for a roof top table!
Go early for a lower level noise. Overall the food was good, but I found the roasted vegetable dishes very oily almost masked the taste.
Brunch was amazing! My friends and I had such a good time. We tried like every mimosa. Katherine was our server and she was awesome. I like that it’s a bottomless brunch but tapa style so it’s cool to get small plates of things and just split with your friends. (Things we really liked, we each got our own lol) the spicy lamb Benedict was my fav 😋 . Will definitely be going again!
Just a little expensive for how small the plates were! I totally understand that's the point of small-plates, but they were priced almost as expensive as a regular meal. I didn't love that I needed to get 5 almost-full priced meals to feel full.
The food was definitely yummy though! I'd go back, but maybe just for happy hour or brunch :)
Wonderful waiter, an extra special touch that they brought a birthday dessert for our colleague.
Would be better if there were more servers. We sat upstairs and it took our serve more than 15 minutes to greet us. It was only 2 servers tending to more than 10 tables. They needed help.
This was my fifth time to this location for brunch cause it's such a good deal for bottomless food and drinks. They have a cute outdoor space upstairs which is great when it's warm out but the indoor space has a nice vibe to it too. A lot of my friends think this location is a standard carry-out Cava when I suggest it and have no idea it's a sit-down restaurant with a completely different menu and set up than most Cavas. The staff is always super friendly and don't judge when I order 2-4 tapas at a time since it's bottomless - I'm never disappointed with the constant influx of food and mimosas.
I really like Cava and it's a go-to normally for out of town guests or just us to go for a meal that is always good. This past time we made a reservation for 9:15 and when we sat down we were told the kitchen closes at 9:45. Why have an open reservation slot if you are giving us less than an hour to sit down and eat? Once we got our food we were rushed out (the waitress literally cleared our glasses and told us we had to leave) even though there was an entire other table in the middle of the restaurant with 10+ people that were still eating and drinking. I will definitely think twice about coming back here again.
Great food, great service, great drink. 1 of the best grilled octopus I've ever had!
The staff here is top-notch. I have a food allergy and they are always so great at tweaking the dishes so I can eat them. I really appreciate the attentiveness and willingness to make modifications.
The service was exceptional and the food was great.
My husband and I had dinner at Cava this past Saturday and the food was delicious. I mean everything. All together I believe we ordered ten different items from the menu and every last one was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was awesome. The staff in general was great. We had wine and cocktails as well and both were on point. This was my second time dining at Cava and a first for my husband. My most recent experience there was no different from my last. Everything was great. My only complaint would be the sitting. I was a little tight for me but given the location and how wonderful the food is, I guess that’s to be expected. I would definitely go back.
The food was phenomenal (we ordered 5 different dishes) and the service was outstanding. Initially the music was so loud, we couldn’t hear each other, but the restaurant turned down the volume upon request, which we greatly appreciated.
Great service. Table by the door on a cold day - not good. Food very good
Always great food and lots of gluten free options denoted on the menu! If you do not have an issue with cross contamination you can have a lot more as well. They are accommodating in removing the parts of a dish that have gluten in it
Never received Tapas I ordered...I believe the table next to us which was a big party received them. The waitress focused more on them then my party of 2.
The brunch at Cava was great! Bottomless mimosas and tapas with a ton of variety in the food and grapefruit mimosas were a nice alternative to too much OJ. Every dish prepared well and with detailed presentation, yet such a deal to have so much good food and drink for only $35.
The crazy feta was absolutely delicious! All the food was well seasoned and had the perfect amount of spice. I went here before I attended a show at Ford's Theater. It was wonderful! I just wish I would have saved room for dessert. I highly suggest dining here with multiple people so that you can order and share! Enjoy!
Great lunch value! $12 for mezze! Definitely check it out!
We love this place. Delicious tapas, fast friendly service, and great ambience. Lots of unique flavors and fresh, Mediterranean dishes.
So much fun for brunch!
Service was okay, food came out super slow, I wasn’t pleased.
Food was excellent, except the chicken sliders - over fried, hard and unhealthy. The grape leaves and the lamb sliders are highly recommended. Overall, I really enjoyed our meal and will certainly return. Thanks!
Cava is a awesome brunch spot!! The food is great and the ambiance is always fun! I love it! (Plus...you cannot beat 25¢ mimosas).
Went with family for Christmas dinner. Had Chefs Platter .Everything was good except the lamb chops had too much fat and waiter said that they can’t help it! French toast dessert was really good.
Cava Mezze Capitol Hill, has one of the best bottomless brunches in town! All you can eat and drink (25cent mimosas but who is counting?!) for $35 in 2hrs, you cannot beat that! Being that this spot is my top go to, service plays a huge factor, however, this visit wasn't memorable.
We waited 20min for the majority of the first round of food to touch the table, with orders continuously being taken. Unfortunately, the food lacked salt and love, the quality of expected food was not met. The server was very hands off trying to avoid table conflict. The GM (didn't get his name) was very empathetic to the situation and did his best to correct one of the many fires at the table (two cranberry mimosas were served to the table with what it seemed to be the end of the juice line drip). The DOA (director of operations), Mauricio, came to the table apologized, listened to our grievances, explained what was happening very apologetic taking care of the bill.
Communication goes a long way In hospitality whether you think it's going to cause friction or not! Cava will always be #1, maybe we need a break? Lol
Great brunch! Food and service were wonderful and you can’t beat 25¢ mimosas!
a return to capitol hill from the suburbs was well worth the drive to visit an old favorite! loved the new octopus dish and the grilled meatballs were as good as ever! the dips sampler was really good BUT the portion was way smaller than it used to be... our server, Jonathan, was outstanding - some of the best service we have had in a LONG time - very attentive and friendly but not over bearing. our kids devoured everything too which always makes for a relaxing evening out. can't wait to get back!
Great food. Fantastic drinks!
Always love the food and the 25 cent mimosas. I always bring friends here when they are in town
The all you can eat brunch options are lackluster compared to what was offered a few years back. Love this place but will not return for brunch
Found this place as we were staying in the neighbourhood on holiday. It was so good we’ve been back two more times. The food is great as is the service and ambience. It’s busy every night and has happy hour at the bar between 5-7pm during the week. If we lived here we would go at least once a week. Cauliflower dish to die for, as well as Spanikopita, lamb sliders and a great cheese dish that they set fire to. Great selection of Greek wines too.
We arrived a bit early and the host was very accommodating in seating us early on a busy Saturday night. We were a party of 5 (Girls' Weekend) and they're set up for sharing plates, so we could all share and try a variety of dishes, which was all excellent. One in our party is Gluten Free and there isn't much on the menu that is designated for that, which limited her, but otherwise it was a very good experience.
Nice food. Great service. Old-fashioneds hit the spot. Lots of different tastes. Beet salad was well done. Try the mussels and any lamb dish. Enjoyable meal.
Great food yet again at Cava. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC and the food never disappoints. My current favorites are: the Sauganaki, chicken souvlaki, lamb meatballs, smoked salmon, spanakopita, brussel sprouts, opa opa shrimp, and the crazy feta dip. I have taken numerous family and friends here over the years and it is always fabulous food!
All of the dishes were good. This was my first time here for dinner (I'd been previously for brunch) and I plan to return for brunch sometime.
Excellent food prep and service. It is a bit crowded and noisy but not terrible. Definitely would go back.
Good food, but not GREAT for the price.
