We had a delicious dinner with friends. the scallops seared to perfection and the duck was ordered. Attentive waiter and overall great experience.
The calamari appetizer and duck entree are amazing. We generally get them whenever we visit CAV.
There isn't enough to be said about CAV in a review like this. The closest I've come to something this wonderful would be a cafe restaurant in Paris. The decor, lighting, floor layout, wine list, food all combine for an experience that is nothing short of magical. We could not help but remark that the colors and lighting were done with care to produce an effect. Nothing is haphazard. There is a balance between all of these elements of the restaurant's design so that the experience isn't just a dining experience- it transcends that and becomes something akin to stepping into grand memory- a place where you remember real joy, happiness.
Fantastic meal within an absolutely beautiful setting. I always come here when I visit Providence.
Delightfully eclectic and excellent birthday brunch.
Excellent food service and ambiance that doesn't quit
Especially cold night and felt extra cozy and warm thanks to the funky and comforting design of CAV

Took my 4 year old granddaughter and my daughter in law there for brunch. It was outstanding and the service was great. We were celebrating my late mother's birthday as this is where I always took her. Fond memories and now making new ones.
Great atmosphere with delicious food. What more could to ask for ?
Really unique place. Great ambiance backed up by excellent food.
I ordered the tuna for the 2nd time, it's awesome. My husband had the osso buco, he loved it. The ambiance and service was great.
We enjoy CAV as a celebratory space to share with friends and family - in this case, my visiting mother-in-law.
The last time I had the pleasure to dine here was back in ... maybe 1999 “ish”! I had moved out of the area for many years! I saw it on OpenTable and booked a meal for my wife and I and had the best meal in a very long time! The food was great! I had the Duck and my wife had the Filet Mignon. Both cooked to perfection! We both ordered drinks and I even tried (and loved) their French Martini! We finished the meal with a Creme Brûlée dessert! Highly recommend that one, by the way! And the service... we enjoyed the services of a very warm and inviting waiter who was attentive but not intrusive! The whole time went by too fast, although we enjoyed our meal at our own pace!! Can’t wait to go back! This is just one of those awesome places!! Loved it!! I hope your visit is equally as enjoyable!!
CAV is one of our favorite restaurants. The service is excellent, the good is great and the ambiance is very nice with interesting art and decorations.
Romantic and cozy spot for a special occasion. The scallops and risotto were delicious but a bit pricey for the portion. Service was very good and staff were welcoming and friendly. Overall I would highly recommend!
Second time eating at CAV. Food is outstanding! The calamari appetizer is the best I have had. Love the eclectic decor too!
Love this place, the food is outstanding. The server was great and very knowledgeable
An awesome place to spend the evening. Great food we highly recommend the filet, great drinks and a very friendly, courteous staff. You really can't go wrong here. We will definitely be back.
I brought some business clients there for lunch and they were all very impressed. Two of my four guests are from RI but have never tried CAV. They loved it and will be back for sure. CAV has a great menu with classic favorites and other dishes you just don't see anywhere else. It remains one of my favorite dinner spots and now will be a regular for lunches as well.
Dog friendly on the outdoor patio. Excellent food, great for brunch.
Terrific as always. Really a fun and cool room and food stays very good after all these years. You are eating in the middle of an art gallery with a cool funky bar, great decor, tasty food, nice beverages, friendly service. what's wrong with that? The founder's spirit lives on.
The service was excellent. The food was amazing. The decor is great and fitting. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I certainly will be back.
It was our first time and we loved everything from the food, drinks and atmosphere, super
Our family dines sat Cav every time we are in Providence. We live in NYC and appreciate excellent food. We have never been disappointed at Cav. The appetizers, entrees and desserts are all exceptional. We love the decor and the waitstaff are friendly and helpful.
Fantastic find on Open Table tucked away on a side street in Downtiwn Providence. Atmosphere was delightful, food was presented beautifully and very delicious. Our waiter Jonathan was fabulous! We would definitely return.
Had a family meal on a Saturday night. Ambiance is creative and enjoyable with gorgeous lighting. We waited about 40 minutes after sitting down to receive bread but the pace of the meal sped up after that and was fine. We had calamari for an app and it was delicious. My brother and father got the lamb shank and raved about it but weren't crazy about the veggie pate on the plate. I had the scallops and they were done perfectly, my shrimp were a bit dry though. The combinations of vegetables and sauce were tasty. We all enjoyed our meals and liked the atmosphere.
Always the same. Excellent.
A friend told us that we had to go to CAV for Sunday brunch following a great evening at Water Fire. It's a spectacular site with amazing antiques, interesting textiles, weird chandeliers, and a fabulous collection of African sculpture and masks. The service was friendly and professional and the food excellent. When back in Providence, we'll certainly head to CAV to eat.
This evening was amazing. Our waiter, Jonathan, was fantastic. Food, ambiance, everything- it was great!
Crammed 5 people at a small table, refused to move us on request. In that respect, could have been better. Food was great though.
This place was AMAZING. My boyfriend and I were in Rhode Island for the weekend and enjoyed a lovely romantic dinner here. The food was amazing - highly recommend their lobster and poules aux poires (it's award winning for a reason). Their menu was so creative and extensive we had a hard time deciding. I'd love to go back. And the staff was incredibly polite and accommodating. Honestly some of the best waiters I've dealt with.
Our waiter was wonderful. We had a great experience. I had swordfish and my husband had the seared scallops. The decor inside the restaurant is wonderful!
Was in Providence for an overnight visit for water fire and came upon this restaurant in my search . Was glad we went, food and service were exceptional.
Nice restaurant. Very fun& funky vibe. Our drinks were great and my husband's meal (seared tuna) was great. Mine (beef tips & ravioli) was so so. The restaurant got busy and our waiter was in the weeds. We were forgotten about for about 45 minutes. We seriously think he forgot we were still in the restaurant. We decided not to order dessert.
The ambiance was amazing, and the food was just as good. For an early dinner on a Saturday there seemed to have been quite a crowd but no wait... Thanks to OpenTable
One of my girl friends and I dined at Cav on Friday night to book our upcoming girls weekend get away. It was our first time and we absolutely loved the experience! The food and drinks were fantastic. Curt our server was so hospitable and had many great recommendations. He even gave us a free dessert since it was our first time. We will be back!
Lovely experience. Attentive but not overbearing wait staff. Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere
Really interesting eclectic interior paired with excellent service and great food. I had the Poulet aux Poires and it was excellent. My girlfriend had Black Truffle Ravioli and was similarly impressed. Overall very impressed and would definitely go again.
A good restaurant to enjoy a pleasant Saturday night amongst friends.
Extensive menu with great creativity to enliven all types of dishes.
Locates in Providence, but without the hassles of crows and parking difficulties.
Have not been to CAV in about 15-20 years. Seems like it attracts an older crowd (like us). There was nobody seated at the bar which I found unusual for a Saturday night.
Menu is limited and not very interesting. Food was good but nothing special. Our waiter could use a personality perk-up
