As per usual the food and service was amazing
CAV is a hidden gem. We took another couple with us for a nice night out, and they had no idea that a restaurant of this quality existed in its location. Atmosphere is very unique, great service and a dinner that impressed everyone in our group. Well worth the trip!
A romantic dinner for two was marred by poor service, incorrect drinks and an incredibly loud atmosphere.
Excellent food. Great ambiance
It was our first time at CAV and we will definitely bring going back. Food was delicious and loved the ambience!
Because of its unique ambience and because the quality of the food and service are excellent CAV is our favorite restaurant When we entertain out of town guests. We feared that after the death of the owner the high standards would not be kept up but our fears were groundless. CAV has never let us down.
Great food and environment
What a great restaurant! My wife and I were in the area the other night visiting someone in the hospital and we decide to pop in to get a meal and it was wonderful. The ambiance, service and, of course, the food are all fantastic. You won’t be disappointed.
The salad was not good. Not the usual, but the waiter was wonderful and he did Comp us on the salad. The drinks were delicious, the ambience was great and I would definitely go back. It was just a bad day with the food
Enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch
Anniversary dinner. Outstanding food and service with a romantic atmosphere.
As always, CAV provided our group of friends with the perfect spot for a pre-theater lunch. The food is delicious, the wait staff is super attentive and the decor is magical. In a town that has so many wonderful restaurants to visit, it says a lot that CAV is always at the top of our list when we select a place to gather.
I didn’t expect anything lavish, but I put in the reservation this was for an anniversary and that we would like to be seated at the bar. We arrived maybe 10 minutes before reservation and were told our table was being set. I mentioned requesting the bar and was told we could sit there and get a drink until table was ready. Fine. Sat at bar 10 minutes and were never able to give a drink order. Once we got to table, waiter was fine but rushed and real quick with us. Food was pretty good overall but very loud and rushed.
Outstanding. Service, atmosphere, food are all awesome.
Food was delicious, service was great. The only negative was we waited an hour and half for our seat and we had 7:30 reservations. 😏😏😏
Love this place. One my Favs
Chowder was out of this world good and I am picky about chowder. Service was good and fast. Cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.
Third visit to CAV and every time has been great. I tried new things (loved the Brussels and the ahi in particular) and couldn't have been happier. Vinnie our waiter was stellar. Cheers to this little RI hidden gem.
Always reliably good for lunch, especially the sandwiches and soups.
The server was nice and very quick to help us with everythign
Had gluten free potsticker appetizer was awesome and I had delicious chicken. Very knowledgeable about celiacs I recommend.
Attention to detail, treating you like a king and queen, great wait staff, great food. Highly recommend
Such a great place for a date! It is beautiful and we were pleasantly surprised by the live music.
We love this restaurant the food is always good!
Consistently great. Ambience is the best
Everything was excellent. First time dining here and we will return!
We had our wedding reception at the CAV two weeks ago and it was incredible. The service, food, atmosphere, everything was off the charts. Two weeks later our friends are still talking about how good the restaurant was! Thank you for making a truly memorable experience for me and my husband! :)
The atmosphere and vibe was lively with a good crowd mix Service was efficient.
We were disappointed in the meal. Started with Cesar salad ( too garlicky) and Clam Chowder ( Too Salty and no anchovies, got to have anchovies). Ahi tuna was good as well as the lamb chop but nothing to recommend as a must try.
Never been to this establishment. Chose to take my boyfriend to this restaurant on a date to celebrate his birthday. Took a good five minutes for hostess to greet us at the door . Requested quiet corner table in reservation and didn’t get it . Actually was seated dead center in the middle of the restaurant. Ordered a medium steak it came out rare. Asked to cook more but still returned at rare. Server took a long time to come to greet table and wasn’t attentive or did quality check throughout dinner. Ambiance And decor was the only cool thing about the restaurant.
Awesome vibe, great ambience, fun drinks, and a creative food menu. We will definitely venture back and tell friends about it. We wish they had live jazz music on the weekends. That would be a great addition. We can’t find a good jazz spot around Providence. That would be a fun addition to an already fun experience at CAV.
We are long-time patrons and decided to invite a group of friends (4 new people) with us for their Wednesday Live Jazz Night. Entertainment, food, ambiance, and service were all excellent (as usual). Our friends all agreed it was a wonderful and unexpected night. CAVs never disappoints!
Wonderful staff, excellent food, phenomenal ambience
Great place with interesting decor and good food reasonable prices.
We were a party of five. Three dishes were excellent. Two of us ordered the awarding winning chicken dish. Unfortunately, the chicken was over cooked and dry. Willing to try again
This was our first time going to Cav. We'll be back! The food, cocktails, and service were very good. We loved the eclectic, antique atmosphere. Parking was easy. We look forward to returning!
The scallops and shrimp risotto were excellent. My husband enjoyed the salmon. It is a huge restaurant and there was a single bathroom stall. Service was good, but a little slow. We walked to the restaurant from the PPAC. It felt like a sketchy neighborhood area, though nothing notable happened on our walk. Based on the quality of the food, we would go back again.
Had a wonderful first time at Cav for a lunch birthday. Would definitely go back. The service was excellent and food was delicious. Would be interested in attending a live jazz performance that they advertise during dinner hours.
CAV is truly unique and was perfect for a girls' day out brunch this weekend. I've never been let down with any dish I've ordered there and the lobster and eggs over brioche is crave-worthy.
The risotto was a little weird. I think the rice was cooked in a rice cooker, separately from the mushrooms.
We've always enjoyed CAV, but they seem to have stepped up their game much higher than the very good level they had achieved before. The food wasn't good, it was tremendous. Simple appetizers we shared were perfectly prepared. My scallops were seared perfectly and deliciously tender. My wife loved the Parmesan Crusted Free Range Chicken Breast, White Wine Beurre Blanc Over Herb Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes, topped with Snow Peas. My in-laws who were visiting had Poulet aux Poires with red Pears poached in wine, Ginger Pear Sauce, served Over Chive Dumplings and Duck Confit and Seared Breast, with Blood Orange Brandy Demi-Glace Cranberry Orange Compote, Sweet Potato Sage Mash. Doesn't that all sound great? It was.
