Caulfield's Bar and Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
In LA visiting our Son for the holidays and popped into this gem for lunch . Found this amazing place on open table. After doing some last minute Christmas shopping at the Beverly center and not really knowing the city . We went on open table to find a place and found Claufields. What an amazing find it was!
I had the kale chips and the grilled shrimp appetizer for lunch my husband had the grilled whole snapper what and amazing the lunch I think I hummed through my entire lunch it was great! The wait staff was awesome and the chef came out to great us, she is was so personable and just amazing! Such a tatted group. They made our introduction to Beverly Hills a bright one!
We enjoyed it so much we had Chris dinner with them and celebrated my husbands birthday there the following day!
Ordered the Brussel Sprout appetizer without bacon; the first round came with bacon - returned for a bacon-free version; the replacement came after the entree; the remake was very tasty; the broccolini was not-hot; the salmon was medium-rare, but tasty; the sun-dried tomato "garnish" did not compliment the entree; the mashed sweet potatoes were perfect. The music was loud, but good. The service was attentive, sufficient and polite. I would go again, but would not order anything that required removal of any ingredients before service - not judging, just saying.
Very reliable in a relaxed environment, Caulfield's once again delivered. Finally had the avocado toast (it always looked good on past visits), and it was exceptional. Great tuna nicoise salad done with seared Ahi. Restaurant was very quiet, but service remained great. Wish they had a few more healthy options, especially among sandwiches.
Big Bust. My husband and I took my mom and step dad here for Mother's Day. First I ordered a bloody mary. It was undrinkable. Then I ordered a mimosa. Again, undrinkable. And I like to drink. The service was spotty. When my "scramble" came, it was not scrambled together but was overcooked eggs with the scramble materials on the side. Luckily I had worked out at the gym earlier that day so I was starving and was able to eat the meal even though it didn't taste good. My husband and I couldn't wait to get out of there and I was embarrassed for having chosen it. It's too bad because I had been there a few weeks ago with women friends and we had good food and good drinks. The service was spotty also though. Will not return for a third time.
Restaurant has a great old world quiet ambiance. You can actually have a conversation.
The rooftop bar is a totally different vibe - hip, happening, lively.
It was a great combo to start with a drink on the roof and then move to the dinning room for a nice long luxurious meal.
Waitstaff was OK- felt a bit hit and miss.
Must try: Kale chips, Barramundi fish, Key Lime pie!
Very disappointed. Billed as an Oscars watch party, it was NOT. No special Oscar drinks or foods, other than popcorn. The place was almost empty.
The food was overpriced and only fair at best. I travel to LA 4 or 5 times a year. Not returning to Caulfield's.
Was there for Valentines and they were grossly underprepared even though they were not at full capacity. It's hard to feel comfortable when you hear the tables around you complaining about service and the first thing out of the waiters mouths is "I'm sorry for...".
Then there were mistakes on the food as the had a special valentines menu but when ordering off the regular menu they would mix the two up.
Piano player in the corner could have been a nice touch, though he kept making mistakes! Lol.
Comedy of errors all night.
the restaurant is located on the ground level of a boutique hotel called SIXTY. The place was fairly empty but a simple space and nice bar. I think the prices (menus and drinks) might be a too high, and perhaps for alot of folks they go elsewhere.
I had a date and sat in a cozy (we were alone practically) booth.
be sure to go UP to the roof and see the panoramic views from the bar there....amazing!
Last two meals here were during Dine LA, and they offered a terrific two-course $20 deal. All six items were good as all I ate with had at least one of the items. The chicken noodle soup was light and especially good, but the avocado toast was beautiful. And the salmon entry was plentiful as was the side of mixed small potatoes that came with it. Staff is always really present and attentive.
We had an excellent time at Caulfield's. The cheese board delicious and the house wine was great. I had the Caufield Burger with and added avacado and bacon which made it this monstrous burger!! Cooked to perfection! We are from New Orleans (which makes us biased about food everywhere we go) and I must say when we go back to Beverly Hills I will make a stop there again.
Every thing was good from the service to the food except that Roasted Chicken which was on the menu was a little disappointing, because it was a chicken breast and thigh which were either grilled and or sauteed. However it was very tasty with a great sauce. Just a little disappointed that it was not the classic Roasted Chicken, so hard to find in any restaurant in LA anymore. The Asparagus soup was excellent. We plan on coming back with friends soon and and hopefully many more times .
Upon being seated I was surprised how empty the restaurant was! The decor was trendy, plenty of artwork in the walls keeping with the theme of the restaurant. Oddly we were not seated in the nice part of the restaurant. Our waiter was the best part of our experience, not the food. The crab cakes were way too salty accompanied by a bitter selection of greens. The main course barramundi was just covered in pepper, yet perfectly cooked. I should also mention that we had little flies multiplying at our table which was just gross. The dessert was awful. We learned that they are not freshly prepared there, a chocolate bundt cake with marshmallow sauce, strawberries and whipped cream. The only redeeming parts were everything except this dry bitter cake. My friend got the pineapple upside down cake which she also disliked due to how dry it was too. So, come DineLA in January I will not return here!
