CAU - Amsterdam Ratings and Reviews
Perfect for our final night in Amsterdam, central to most attraction, everything we ordered was to die for and at such a reasonable price. Like most places in Amsterdam service was a teeny bit forgetful and slow but I've come to realise that is part of the charm. Will defo visit again next time I'm in Amsterdam.
The atmosphere is wonderful. I love the interior - It really sets it apart from all the standard decorated restaurants throughout Amsterdam. The food was tasty, however: we got our starter 2 minutes Before our main.. It feels weird why They didnt Wait Before we finished our starters. We now had to eat the starter And main at the Same time, which gave us the feeling we were just a number And had to leave ASAP, because they want as much tables at one evening as possible.
Visited 8th October.
Very good welcome from staff who had our reservation .We received excellent service. the food options suit most tastes and our meal was really first class.
Great location ( the upstairs restaurant is best in our opinion, get a window table if possible.)
Considerate staff and a very lively atmosphere. Enjoy !!
Not bad for a restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. The food wasn't quite that good as I expected after I paid, but I can't say I complain about it. The steaks are good, mine was a bit to chewy though, the ambience was a bit to noisy for my taste, but quite pleasant, the service was very good, although the waiter couldn't recommend a dry red wine on account of not tasting all of them, as he said, and the prices were pretty much fair. Overall a nice dining experience which could be easily improved.
The restaurant and ambiance are top notch , but unfortunately the food quality is lacking. I started out with mussels appetizer and Pork belly tempura. The mussels weren't too bad but the pork tempura had too much batter which killed any flavor.
For entree I had the ribeye steak and sides of macaroni and cheese and sautéed mushrooms. The biggest problem for me is the steak . Although it's cooked medium rare perfectly, the steak is too tough and also boneless.
I was almost wondering if they gave me a cheaper cut of meat. The sauces chimichurri and aoli were not very good. Overall fun time at hip dining spot but wouldn't order too much food.
Loved this place! The service was outstanding and the food as well. Loved the atmosphere and the interior. Best slice of meat I have had in a long time. And the cocktails where really good! I am definitely coming back to this place next time visiting Amsterdam!
Had a lovely meal here, my first piece of steak was a bit chewy, however, the waiter kindly gave me a freshly cooked new one along with a free portion of onion rings. He was lovely and checked to see if the second piece was up to standards. In spite of this, my partner and I had a very enjoyable evening and the restaurant even met my request of a window seat which we were very happy about!
We booked CAU Amsterdam for the first night we arrived, following a recommendation from someone who had been there when they were in Amsterdam. The service was excellent, everyone was friendly and very attentive. We each had different cuts of steak with a side of triple cooked chips and onion rings to share. The food was DELICIOUS and we had a nice bottle of rosé with our meal. Would 100% reccomend for a beautiful meal in Amsterdam.
