Everything was perfect!
Excellent with large portions somewhat pricey Good for special occasions
A little disappointing as compared to previous visits to this restaurant. Service was slow, food was just average and there was a musty smell. It seem like the restaurant needs a total facelift.
Excellent food! Excellent staff! Excellent atmosphere!
We really enjoyed the restaurant and our dinner. The couple who were seated behind me were very loud and obnoxious verbal behavior. The wine list, although extensive is somewhat overpriced. My husband had a taste of one of the wines and honestly was no impressed. I enjoyed the white that I had.
After attending the wine tasting event, which was fabulous, dinner was excellent. Great service, food outstanding, and beautiful restaurant.
Catherine Lombardi's never fails. We had some great seasonally inspired food, the wine suggested paired perfectly. Highly recommend for any occasion.
The food was great and the service was fantastic. Can't wait to return
Excellent food, excellent service, nice atmosphere, great for pre-theatre.
Given the location and many business meeting with different groups, I dined her three nights in a row! The food and service was excellent and everything I ordered was terrific. I will definitely be coming back next time in town.
Excellent food, spectacular service!
Food was great. Service was terrible. There's not much else that I can say.
Food quality and level of service was simply the best.
Went to Catherine Lombardi for 25th anniversary celebration after attending a concert. Food was great, service was even better. The server discovered it was our anniversary and the management gave us a complimentary dessert. That’s pretty classy to me!
Great atmosphere, food ok. No real finesse, a little sloppy, but well cooked.
Do not drink the ice water, too much chlorine taste. Does not help the food experience
Food and service were good. Unfortunately after being told about the specials (6pm reservation) and choosing the ricotta Gnocchi with the with Boar Bolognese(2 orders at the table) we were quickly disappointed to learn they were out. The couple we dined with ordered the Orchietta with sausage... someone was VERY heavy handed on the lemon/acid almost inedible...appys, salads, substitute entrees were good.
We greatly enjoyed our dinner; we arrived a few minutes early and the service at the bar while we waited for our table was excellent. At dinner we again enjoyed excellent service and all four of us were very happy with our delicious food choices, including the special asparagus and spinach light cream soup, the clams casino, shrimp scampi, special burrata appetizer, black spaghetti with shrimp, sorpressata and mint, the special ricotta gnocchi with wild boar bolognese, warm rolls and delicious gelato for dessert. We're afraid the high-rise construction going up next door will partly block the view, but the dining experience is still the best!
We have come here several times before a show and were never disappointed. Food and service are always exceptional!
Came here to celebrate an anniversary. Had previously been recommended this place and was in the mood for authentic Italian. Service was very good and it was only towards the end I was slightly disappointed when it took 30 mins for us to receive our dessert. We had been given the menu, took one glance and immediately knew what we wanted but our order was not taken for a while and then it also took a considerable amount of time for it to be prepared, at which point we were regretting ordering dessert at all. However, when it did arrive, it was delicious. (Chocolate hazelnut bread pudding) There was also a very loud group that seemed to be a business dinner next to our table but they left halfway through our entree so it wasn't that bad. Besides the one loud group and the long wait for dessert we enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend. Definitely get the garlic bread with your appetizer!
I JUST KEEP COMING BACK. IT'S ALWAYS WORTH IT. FOOD, SERVICE, WINE, COCKTAILS - IT'S ALL HERE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO INTO NYC.
The food was wonderful, we ate a variety of appetizers...tapas. But beyond that, the staff was smiling and genuinely friendly. I felt as though they were glad to see me. The cocktails are imaginative and rarely (if ever) found elsewhere. I can't wait to return.
Horrible food quality - never again!!! I would pay NOT to eat there.
It was a great and wonderful night for a private birthday.
We both had the lasagna which was fair. Certainly eatable but I bit disappointing.
Terrible pasta, worse lasagna. Not home made, probably frozen and heated in the microwave. The place and the service is good, the food at the same level of any fast food chain, but with bistro prices
Food was excellent as usual, great place.
Went on 4/7 on a date night and made reservations so we would have a table. We sat at a table for 2 and were 2 feet apart and we could not have a conversation. Mostly because there was a party of about 20 or more in the restaurant for a birthday party and they were LOUD. Could not talk, service was awful because I had to flag people down to get a water refill and had to ask several times for the check to get out of there!! The place is nice but not cheap so I would at least like to have a conversation with my date but because the greedy owners shoe horned a party in the main room the experience was awful, NEVER GOING BACK!!!!
Bar service was very slow otherwise very good
Dinner was delicious!! The wine was superb!! The staff was just wonderful!! We will definitely go back!!
We've eaten here many times over the years but had stopped because the constant upselling had gotten out of hand. Happy to say it was kept to a minimum on this visit. Food was good. Had one special, the gnocchi and one orichetti with sausage. Garlic was burnt in the orichetti but otherwise tasted fine. Gnocchi were oddly browned on the bottom but also tasted fine. Service was ridiculously slow. Salad came right away but we waited forever for our entrees. There are better choices in New Brunswick these days.
Best place for pre theatre dining! Always an excellent meal! Wine list is superb !
Absolutely delicious!!!! A gem in New Brunswick! We always stop when we go to the State theater
Despite having a pre-show dinner for 8 people for a sold out show next door, the service, hand-crafted cocktails, hospitality, and food were impeccable. Knowledgeable staff who have learned from the best and strive to deliver a great dining experience. Well done...as always!
Great service, delicious food. Great place to eat before a show at the State Theatre.
Food was very good, but the service left something to be desired. By far, bus boy provided best service, was very attentive throughout.
After asking waiter for drinks, had to ask a 2nd time for the drinks after not than 10 minutes. Then ordered a 2nd round of drinks and again had to ask the waiter a 2nd time for the drink after a number of minutes.
Also, ordered dessert. Waiter didn’t write down anything, which is not uncommon, but yet he had to come back and ask my wife for her order because he forgot.
Would highly recommend the food, but service needs to be addressed.
Meeting the in laws
My husband took me here for dinner after he proposed. We had a group of 10 family members join us. The night was perfect! Food was delicious. Since then (it’s been 10 years), we have dined here around our wedding anniversary annually. I have to be honest- this time wasn’t the same. Our service was very slow, our dinner was fair, and our table wasn’t set with proper utensils. I was disappointed. This is disheartening because Catherine Lombardi does hold a special place in my heart. Maybe it was just an off evening... or I’d like to believe so.
They didn't rush us and we were able to enjoy good food and great company. All in all it was a wonderful evening
The Veal Parmigiana was incredible as was the Calamari. The gnocchi with wild Boar was good and the bread pudding was great also. Will definitely go back again. The service is good and the owners are extremely nice and engaging.
