How shall I put this. Service was amazing! The value for what you get, not so much. My mother, step-father and I dined here last Sunday. Drinks were great. Service was great. The issue we had is that the menu and prices online are drastically different than the menu and prices being presented at the restaurant. We love to eat out and prices are never an issue, it’s more the principal of it all. For example, the 16oz Veal Porterhouse is $44.95 online and $54.95 when you get the menu in the restaurant. Same thing with the Wild Boar Bolognese and Pappardelle Pasta. It’s 24.95 online and $29.95 in the restaurant. I can tell you that while the Bolognese was good, it wasn’t by any means worth $29.95. While we opted for the filet mignon instead of the veal porterhouse it was again a disappointment. I ordered the spinach ravioli with wild mushroom and goat cheese. I got five small ravioli. It was again a disappointment. The highlight were the drinks and service which sadly are not enough to bring us back. Sorry Catherine Lombardi’s but we are one and done.
Great spot near State Theater. Great food and atmosphere. We loved it.
Always a good choice. Great service, wonderful food.
It was a beautiful evening
I was very disappointed with the food. Most complaints i read were about the service but that turned out to be the best part. I expected a much higher quality of food. I would go back and give it another shot. Every restaurant has off nights. It's only fair to try it again.
Food was exceptionally good. The presentation made it very appetizing.
Our Valentine's dinner. Excellent service, good food and wine list.
Beautiful place great food! My wife and I absolutely loved it.
Good but not spectacular
It was a party of 12 so I can only speak for myself my app of shrimp scampi was bland and drenched in butter also an order of ravioli with wild boar sauce had minimal sauce no wild boar taste our server Emilio was stellar
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the tri state area. The food is superb the ambiance is perfect and the service is excellent. The owner is always on premises and runs a very warm dining experience. My personal favorite is the seafood salad followed by the Osso Buco which is tremendous.
The food was delicious (especially the basil pasta as part of the special), the drink selection was good, and the ambiance is lovely. BUT the service was unbelievably slow! We were there for a birthday dinner before a show at the State Theatre. The hostess at the front and our waiter asked if we were seeing the show, and we told them. We were also clear that this was a birthday dinner. Our reservation time provided ample space to have dinner and walk to the State Theatre next door afterwards. However, at 7:30, our dinner plates still had not been cleared, we had not been given a dessert menu, and the waiter was nowhere to be found. It got to 7:40, and we realized we needed to ask for the check. Still no waiter. 7:45 came, and we finally got the waiter and asked for the check, indicating we had to leave without a birthday dessert. As we were signing the check, a special birthday crème brûlée was delivered, but it had to be eaten quickly so we could head to the show. If we hadn't been in such a good mood, this really would have spoiled the evening. I'm torn about whether I'll return. For the price of the meal and the size and taste of the dishes, I can name any number of other great Italian restaurants in Central NJ that would be better.
Food and ambiance was great. Service was good, nothing special.
Service was terrible. We had to stop staff to ask for everything - water, drinks, wine, the check. Food was good, but service was beyond poor.
Overpriced for their limited selection of Italian food. I went because I had heard good reviews, but I wasn't impressed. This won't be a repeat place for us.
Minor things to improve upon - when you say you are going to split a salad for two, please do so, also deliver coffee/tea along with the ordered desserts. If we had waited for the desserts the coffee/tea would have been cold.
Pleasureable dining experience is consistent every time we have dinner here. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The dining room is large but still is cozy. Always a great place for consistently good food!
Our favorite place to go for every type of celebration. This trip was to celebrate my brother's birthday. First of all, the cocktails are awesome and unique. Followed by the amazing Italian food. Somehow the garlic bread is better here than anywhere else. We tried everything; I had veal, my wife had pasta, my brother had the fra diavlo, my daughter had the Salmon, and my sister-in-law had the pork chop. All of that followed by an amazing array of desserts. It was an amazing meal as usual. This place never ever disappoints.
We have dined here several times through the years but we always celebrate an annual dinner in January with retired work friends. The staff always make the evening a pleasurable, special night for us. The food is consistently good along with the specials that are inventive and not to be missed.
My black spaghetti was way spicier than I expected. Without a lot of water, I couldn’t have handled it. But, dessert, especially the chocolate lava cake, exceeded expectations.
Wife’s birthday which I made a note of it when I booked with open table. Guess they didn’t read it or didn’t care. Way too much garlic in my wife’s meal. Didn’t eat it. Waitress and the manager were great and understanding but that’s about the only good thing. Oh yeah and the wine... don’t think we’ll be going back
Allow an extra half hour if you are going before a show at State. Very convenient to the theater so it gets crowded which backs up the kitchen. Food was pricey but excellent. Presentation was average.
The atmosphere was relaxing, the food was delicious, and the service impeccable. It was a lovely place to have dinner especially before the theater.
Salad, appetizers and main dishes all fresh and tasty. Extensive bar menu. Highlight may have been the desserts, which were delicious, especially the molten chocolate cake !
Great services, ambience and food
Truly disappointing! A friend of mine had her wedding here so I thought it would be a great place to bring my son at Rutgers and his new girlfriend.
Service was AWFUL! We had to beg the water boy to find our waiter. The order came out wrong on the appetizers, wine and it took forever for the entrees.
The owner was going to other tables but no one asked us “how was our meal?”
I had been there years ago so I don’t know if owners changed. Big bummer for the money.
There are better Italian restaurants in New Brunswick with customer service focus.
I will start off saying the food was amazing! My husband I both ended up getting the wild boar and ricotta ravioli. This meal was definitely to die for. The very garlic bread was also delicious. We didn’t order any fancy cocktails because I’m pregnant. So I can’t review those. The negative part of our experience was the service. No one was rude or unprofessional, completely the opposite. Very friendly and welcoming. However, We had plans for a after dinner show at the state theater for 8pm. Our reservation was for 615p and thought that left more then enough time, but I was wrong. By the time we ordered, received our meals and got the check, it was 740ish. We didn’t order any appetizers or soups salad things. Just sodas and a meal which still took over an hour. Even from when we got there, the hostess welcomed us, asked for a minute, then never came back. We weren’t the only ones in the restaurant that felt this way. The couple next to us were in the same boat except they never received there main dish. It’s just a shame that such good food can be ruined by terrible service.
Food was average and service was awful. Waited 25 minutes for bread!
A little disappointed that our request for a booth table was not accommodated even though I made the reservation in advance. Food was excellent as always. Very noisy pre-theatre crowd, but got quieter after 8pm.
We were extremely disappointed from bread to coffee. We were celebrating our anniversary and combined it with seeing a show after dinner. Service was slow and disorganized. To serve two hard mediocre rolls in a supposedly good Italian restaurant is shameful. My husbsnd’s Pork Osso Bucco was bland and tasteless, and my Eggplant Parm was thin, greasy and stringy. It was getting late so we passed on dessert and just ordered coffee which was served 15 minutes later, luke warm. Overall the food and service was sub par and way overpriced. We will not be back to try again.
Amazing as always! All our needs were met before we ever knew we had them. Fantastic food and service! We will be back soon!
The place was very warm and pleasant.
The food though was ok. I ordered the Osso Bucco and it had no flavor! They did exchange it for me immediately, but shocked that one of their most expensive entrees was so mediocre.
Waiter didn’t inform us that the burrata was more than adequate for two. Felt as though he was padding the bill.
Our server was great! Explained everything we needed to know about the food. The filet was absolutely delicious and the place was gorgeous. Will come again and recommend to others!
Incredible as always. Best French Martini in the world backed by delicious cuisine!!!
Owner was awesome. Waiter was ok. I’m east coast but our waiter was east coast salty. Food was really good but ALOT of garlic. Wouldn’t recommend for a first date.
Enjoyed my evening with the other couple we went with.. only thing my pasta had a little to much garlic for my preference.
It was pricey. Food was good, but not outstanding. Definitely not worth it.
Great food and service! I recommend this place.
Solid food with a relaxed and QUIET atmosphere. Slightly overpriced though.
