When there is a line outside to get in, that’s a good sign! Made an open table reservation and got right in. Hush puppies and slaw first then awesome seafood. Hubby had fried scallops I had blackened shrimp. Local neighborhood place with great food. Excellent casual dining that won’t break the bank.
Great place. Great food. If you make reservations you get priority seating.
It was our last night in the area and I thought I remembered the name of the restaurant I had loved as Catfish Dewy's. As soon as I drove in, I realized that it was not. I was disappointed, but not willing to try and figure out what that other one was and where it was. I am SO glad that I did not. I think it was meant to be. It was fantastic. Started with Hush Puppies which were perfect. Shared an order of conch fritters which were to die for. I had the blackened tilapia which was excellent and my husband had the grilled grouper which he raved about. Everything was excellent. The atmosphere was pure coastal Florida and I would go back there in a heartbeat!
Very good evening dinning good for friends and family, the food came to the table hot so you know it was freshly cook
Great...great...great! Chris was amazing! Glad I decided to have dinner there. Will certainly be back whenever I’m in town.
Was told by our hotel that it was a hole in the wall but the good was a must. We weren't disappointed.
The only thing I must say is that per the restaurant they stated that this was not a "reservation " per say . Because we still had to wait for almost 30 -35 min . Love the food and the drinks we will be returning again !!
Food was really pretty good. It was very crowded and since my mother is 99 we asked to have a table closer to the front so she didn’t have to walk. They put us at the first table and it was really not a great experience. Everyone waiting for a table was standing around us with drinks. It was really pretty annoying. But the server was nice and even though we had to wait quite a while for food, he did bring us some shrimp. (Although we never got our coleslaw at all).
We will go back.
We had a 7:30 reservation and did not get seated until 8:20. We were told that open table was not a reservation but just letting them know we were coming like in call ahead seating. They literally sat everyone that was waiting, even the groups that came after us before we were seated. When we finally got seated, we were in a room that had one other table with 2 people. Shortly after we were given our drinks, they seated the other 3 tables in the room and two of those tables got their food before we did. And we ordered when we got our drinks. We did not get our food until 9:30 and the potatoes were cold, some of the fried food was soggy. They were no busier than they normally are, so there was really nothing excuse. We used this love this place but not sure if we will return.
Love this place! Was upset as they didn’t have my reservation from open table until I mentioned it BUT they were stellar at getting our party of 7 right in on a busy Friday night! They use fresh seafood too, never frozen!
We went with another couple for Stone Crabs which were very good and one of my friends had Catfish which she loved. They have different prices for small, med and large stones, also all you can eat at a certain price. The place is very casual. I forgot our waiters name, but he was so attentive and made our evening. We have been there many times and would differently go back again.
This place was disgusting. So greasy and horrible service. Super crowded and the staff was not friendly.
Met friends we had not seen in a long time there. Great evening and food delicious
Always good food. Needs some improvements. Good food prevails. Fact
A bit over rated. We did enjoy the fish house digs and the quick seating for our reservation. Server was friendly and fit the motif of the restaurant.
Stone crab app was a-ok. Crab leg and lobster tail entree was fine but nothing to write home about. The AYCE “scallops” and catfish were disappointing due to the fake scallops.
If a return is in order would not order those again.
Maybe try again, maybe not.
Overall it was good very crowded poor poor parking , can be very expensive given the environment on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say it is a seven
Fun and terrific food for the price.

So glad we found this place! Didn't want to spend an arm and a leg and wanted good food! Was not disappointed.
Really enjoyed the food, always good and the service was good too. The waitress was very informative. We all enjoyed dinning here. And will return soon.
We arrived at Catfish Dewey’s for dinner and were immediately seated. We received tall glasses of water with lemon, coleslaw and a basket of hushpuppies immediately, then the server came over to take our drink and food orders. The food came out very quickly . We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and will certainly be back. I think this will be one of our favorite haunts.
Thanks for a great meal and evening
Food and portions were amazing!!! Went for dinner two nights in a row.
Love to go on Monday or Tuesday for all the catfish, fried shrimp, peel and eat shrimp. Always excellent. I could live without the clam strips as too much breading but their food has been consistent for the decades I have gone there!
Kitchen ran out of gas could not cook. Everything served was cold and greasy. No all you can eat catfish. Usually it's very good. We will try it again for sure .
Whenever we visit Ft Lauderdale during the season we eat many times at Dewey's to enjoy the stone crab. Sean and Dolores at outstanding servers with whom we've enjoyed many conversations. For the price, the stone crab can't be beaten.
On a negative side, after arriving for our last reservation made through Open Table, (which I reconfirmed on the phone) the hostess Patricia told us that they don't recognize Open Table reservations if they're busy. We'd just have to wait. Fortunately for us, with the help of another staff member, we were able to avoid Patricia's unwelcoming attitude and we were seated in Sean's serving area.
Everything Was Wonderful! Me And My Wife Will Be Back Again! 😊
Always a good place. Food consistent. A place we always come back to.
The parking situation is a nightmare. I did finally figure it out. You paid to park in a strip mall across the street. My wife's fried shrimp meal was good. I had a grilled seafood combo. The fish and side dish were both lukewarm at best. The scallops and shrimp were good.
Alex was our server and did an excellent job.
I would recommend this restaurant if the parking situation was not so ridiculous. Not sure it is worth the trouble. In fairness it was crowded and doing a great amount of business on a Saturday night. You might want to try it on a week night.
Catfish Dewey's is one of my faviorite stops in FLL. The food is consistently above average as well as the sercice.
1st time visit with my family of 4. Its all it’s touted to he. My wife had the all you can eat crab legs. A little pricey but well worth it to me. I hope to return some day. Highly recommend!
Great all you can eat specials each night. Loved the stone crabs!!
As always during stone crab season my husband and I order medium stone crabs. This time there were very few medium-mostly small. Plus the fact the crabs stuck to the shell. Our meal was very disappointing.
The service was slow and quite poor. The tables weren’t cleared properly. We weren’t checked on and water wasn’t refilled.
The food tends to be salty, especially the clam chowder. My sister in laws Lobster was way over cooked! Our king crab claws were great!
Awesome.... we try to get there twice over the Christmas holiday to enjoy the local Fare!
Disappointed that there was no unlimited stone crabs and apparently hadn’t been for much of season. Would have appreciated being told that upfront not once we sat. We were then told there were 2 left which waitress said she would hold for us. Ten minutes later she came back to tell us someone had taken then. We ordered other food which was good but disappointed on how it was handled.
Great food and fast service. Love the hush puppies and lobster. They have awesome stone crab claw although they were out of them on New Years Eve. 😌
With a reservation of which this establishment takes few, we were seated right at the bathroom entrance and there were many tables available. It took over 15 minutes to even order drinks. No set up on the table. Waitress had an attitude. It seems 4 pm is a bad time at this restaurant. Waitress was slow moving and there was a shift change to which she was leaving. Pushed out and of course became congenial when it was time for a tip. Not happy. Frequent this restaurant but not again.
We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation time and there was no parking. The attendant in the overflow lot across the street said to wait in the street. Still no space past our now missed time. We had to leave. People were waiting outside for stonecrab we were told. I think they should have blocked reservations knowing the crowd and wait was so long.
Absolutely terrible. They do not honor OpenTable reservations whatsoever and we had to wait over an hour beyond our reserved time.
Food was mediocre and they forget items from your order.
