Was so very good and Stephen our waiter was simply wonderful!
The food was very good however the service was extremely slow it took us over 2 hours for dinner and between appetizers and dinner it was over 45 mins very very long and we had to be some where and even advised the waitress we needed to leave so when are food arrived we had less then 15 mins to eat and leave so did not make it enjoyable when your eating so fast.
As always the service and food was great. Manager stopped by the table several times to ensure things were going well. Large portions. They have all you can eat fish and chips but nobody in the group got past the first plate without being full.
We had a fantastic night at Catches. Our server was amazing. The place is beautiful and has a friendly, upbeat feel to it. The food was great...especially the crab cakes and crab fries. Going to Catches was a perfect way to end a wonderful vacation.
Steak was a sub par cut and not prepared to order. Baked potato was room temperature. My wife’s meal was good
Seated on time but waiter and dinner took too long and service was poor
Reservations were for 5:45p. the four of us got there about 3 minutes ahead of time. Restaurant seemed quiet and they were turning people away. Plenty of open tables could be seen. That...should have been our first clue. We were seated and then NOTHING happened...Server ignored us. We went back to the front (30 minutes later) and got the the woman there to bring drinks. Another 30 minutes passed and one of us got up to get bread plates and flatware from another table after the server put bread on the table. She took our food order and about another 30 minutes later one of us went to the front to see what the problem was. Answer....the kitchen is backed up and we are short help. Since we weren't in any hurry we tolerated this treatment. Food was good but the wait to get it was the worse service I have ever seen. The bill was adjusted for the inconvenience but not a one of us will ever eat there again. So sad for your restaurant ....word of mouth advertising can hurt.
Overall just an excellent experience. The food was fantastic.
Excellent food and service
Nice seating beside the marina
Catches was my family’s favourite dining spot when they wintered in Florida.
It has been 10 years since we were last there. We recently lost my Dad & had brought my Mom down to spend threee weeks out of the cold.
I made reservations at Catches for Valentines as a special nostalgic treat for us and friends.
Our evening was the biggest dining disappointment!
We were served a cup of clam chowder that I suspect the salt lid came off while seasoning the pot. We cancelled the other two bowls.
We then waited over an hour to be served the rest of our meal.
Sadly , it was not worth the wait , a true disappointment. The most bland tasteless captains platters & chicken breast . All meals tasted steamed or boiled . Yucky !!!
I wish we had never gone back as now even the memory of good times has been spoiled. We would NOT recommend this establishment to anyone we cared about.
The great & wait staff was extremely helpful & friendly. My wife uses a scooter we were able to go all the way to the outside deck with ease. Please extend our thanks to everyone who helped us that evening. Thank you for a nice evening!
Atmosphere was nice, food was not what we expected, my husband got the seafood platter for $24.99 and it was not worth it and my friend, who took us out for my husbands birthday, got shrimp scampi and was very disappointed
Nice experience on the river
Went on a Saturday night with friends. It was not very crowded and the interior looked nice. We had a reservation and we're seated immediately. Our waitress was new and it showed, but I am very lenient when it comes to service so I was able to look past some of her flaws... Like slow service, forgetting orders and unattentiveness ... An iced tea was ordered along with a cocktail and it never arrived. Again, I can see past this and not ding the restaurant too much. Then the food arrived. Chicken fingers on the appetizer sampler were... Suspect at best. Poor cuts off meat with tendons still in tact. The crab cake was more bread than meat and inedible. The fried chicken in the first and chips was a large portion but poorly breaded so that it immediately separated from the fish leaving you wish naked fish and loose breading. The scallops we're not seared and unappetizing. That being said it wasn't awful, the fish was cooked, the portions were large and I hear the dirty banana dacquri was DELICIOUS! It was just so-so and likely our only visit.
My strawberry salad with grilled shrimp was wonderful. My husband loved his shrimp Alfredo.
First time there my wife and I went on a date night and I chose your place from the reviews that I have gotten from my friends thought it was everything met all of our expectations will come back again and recommend it to others
The fish & chips weren’t very good. The breading of fish was heavy & fish was milky. Other meals were ok but pricey for the quality & quantity.
The servers are friendly, the food quite tasty. The ambience is, well, there. It is bright and open, but the acoustics are such that you don't hear other table conversation. The value? I've had the same quality for less money in the area. The clam chowder though, was delicious, I don't know that I've had better.
Went there on New Years Day to celebrate a Birthday for out of town friend. New Years day was cold and windy. At times the dining room felt as though it was out doors. It was very cold! Asked the waitress if the heat could be turned on and nothing was done.
We did not receive our entree after waiting at our table for 60 minutes. We paid for a salad and beverage and left.
Had an awesome lunch before so booked New Year's Eve. Wonderful server & appetizer. But, $30 baked grouper was tough in the middle like a grisly steak...was a real effort to cut with a knife.
To be fair, Mgmt noticed my disappointment and pressed to inquire what I needed. I was so frustrated and very positive I didn't want another previously frozen entre. I didn't want to complain only to wait longer for something more edible.
Great food. Holiday buffet. Waiters were very nice. Would go again.
Sad they said my catchers rewards card would be credited next day and it wasnt...rip off.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner. The bacon wrapped scallops were outstanding. My one daughter really enjoyed the soft shelled crab. My other 2 daughters thought the crabmeat ravioli was ok, but wouldn't order again. Overall a very good dinner for the occasion.
I love this local seafood restaurant! Great food! Awesome atmosphere and great staff!! Had the Ultimate Fish Sandwich it was worth the $16.99 says serves 2...it definitely does!! Unless you are REALLY hungry and the flavor/quality was amazing!! My father had the Redfish and wow was that great as well, best Blackened!
Excellent food & service. We were not rushed to order! Loved our server!
I have eaten there prior and was tremendously impressed with the service and the quality of the seafood and taste. I had managed a seafood restaurant before, so when I go out, I expect service and fine dining as I can mostly serve better dishes at home than in most restaurants.
This experience was not what I had expected and with discussion with my wife, Lobster House was a more inviting dinner date for our Anniversary. Service was ok, to be expected at most restaurants. The dishes were adequate. My wife had the Captains Fair and I had the Mahi. Flavor was disappointing, must less than the cost of the plates. The dishes were somewhat overcooked with sauces somewhat "interesting". Wine was good as was the crab cake. I did taste my wife's plate, too..
It was my Anniversary and wanted to give my wife something special. The online reservation asked if it was a special occasion, yet no one asked or knew, then why ask? I have had fine experiences with special occasions with other restaurants (management and servers).
I did tip well, it is not the servers total fault. It is management tone, acceptance of less than highest service and quality standards.
If you are looking for an advertised "Best Seafood" in a sports bar atmosphere, then this is your place.
I invited my family for a dinner and hoped to see more Christmas decorations. The pasta with scallops was outstanding. Usually at other restaurants they serve the tiny scallops but these were the big ones, the chef served lots of sauce... not dry.
We miss the Rum Runner beer from a few years ago, please try to get it back. That is what got us back more often the men enjoyed that beer!!!!!
The special buckets of seafood is so good as well. The price on the selected days is a good deal.
Very slow Wednesday night ...the oyster Rockefeller was great....stuffed flounder was just ok not bad but the stuffing was doughy...pretty average food not bad not great server!
We have been going to Catches since we moved here 6 years ago and have never had a bad meal. We’ve eaten outside on the patio, inside the restaurant that has a very nice nautical theme and downstairs at the more casual outside venue with live music and the same menu as the restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious, drinks and service are really great. The view is very nice with it being right on the water. We bring our family and friends there when they come to visit. I highly recommend it!
We came for my birthday and really enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was pleasant. Went to Rum River next door and enjoyed the entertainment. I highly recommend this place. We want to come for lunch when our company arrives.
Excellent service. Large menu selection. In addition to inside dining there is a wonderful outside seating option.
Ordered the Gator Tail for appetizer, it was way overcooked. Not a lot of people in restaurant but they seated everyone in one area so felt like it was crowded and noisy. We had Salmon and Stuffed Flounder, the salmon was overcooked and the stuff flounder was mushy and it had way too much sauce. The place was not very full for a Friday evening and I can see why. I doubt this place will be in business for very much longer. Our server did an excellent job though. But I would not recommend this place. There are way better places for less money!!
Captains platter. 2 scallops 3 shrimp 1 fish. Veryover priced
Had a great time. The Captain's platter was delicious! Will definitely return.
We loved our server and could not say any negative comments about him. However, your menu is overpriced and the quality of the food below par. Perhaps we will try again in a year and see if there are any improvements.
We realize it was post Irma so my I have to give them credit for being open. It was my husbands birthday and my mother in law choose the place. Best part of the night was the berry sangria and company. My son had mild boneless wings that were not mild and were a little soggy. Their baked potatoes were off, they seemed as if they were cooked in the microwave and then recooked. My husband and father in law enjoyed their fish, my other son and I had the fried Cod, it was just ok. Overall for being days after a massive hurricane it wasn't a valiant effort to stay open, but there is improvement to be had. Mother in law said service is always slow and too relaxed so that is a big issue for me.
My wife and I had the grouper and snapper. The food was overlooked and dry. The view was nice but that was the best part of the evening
Stephen was a great server. Great feed and reasonably priced! We will be back! 😊
Food was very good and the view is very nice. It is right on the Cotee River .
