Service could have been better, slow getting our water and tea drinks.. The salad with tips, the tips were spicy... It wasn't indicated and they did not taste that good.. Salad was just OK..
Salmon good.. No bread or rolls at the table.. Noise level quite loud and there were a few empty tables.. Reservation was very good, came in and went to our table.. Other than that nothing that would draw me back to Catches..
Catches has great grouper, salmon and king crab. The alfredo blue crab fries and grouper fingers were delish! Nice atmosphere and fun views of boats coming and going. Our waiter was friendly with super service.
We were on vacation with our granddaughters and decided to try out the place based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! The food and service were great. My husband had a sampler type platter, the girls split a full sized shrimp platter and I have the grouper tacos. My only suggestion would be to add shrimp to the kids menu. Overall, great experience.
I live in Clearwater and my friends from Homosassa meet me there, from time-to-time for lunch. It's always a pleasant experience and we're never disappointed. Great service, delicious food and a most enjoyable time with friends .. what's not to like?
A few months ago we went to a high end sea food restaurant and paid with an arm and leg...the food wasn't as great there, but with catches, I was shocked at how delicious the food was and how reasonable the prices were...this will definitely be the spot for us.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Wonderful variety on the menu. Very friendly server.
We had a great time, wonderful food and great service, thank you!
Freshest fish ever and great service!
Really surprised how quiet any not busy it was here albeit we were seated at 5 o'clock. All three of us had great seafood! I had Grouper bites (technically an appetizer) with a side of New England clam chowder. The fingers were actually 5 really good size pieces perfectly battered and done. The chowder was very good as was their 5 dollar Rum Runners !
The restaurant is nice but the food is average at best. We asked to sit at a booth and they put us at a table. Not a huge deal but paying attention to the customer should be at the top of your list. Not to mention, we had a reservation and they didn't even have it documented.
Nice atmosphere, airy, attractive, and scenic, excellently prepared seafood, good breadsticks. We were there for a late lunch on a Monday and it was quiet. Guests who need the accessibility ramp for a walker should be forewarned that the ramp is quite a lengthy and, though gradual, a climb.
Our waitress Missi (I'm sure I've spelled that incorrectly) was really great. The dish I wanted wasn't available so she suggested something else and it probably ended up being better than what I would've ordered. We ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail to go for my dad's girlfriend who wasn't able to join us. Missi put in the order at exactly the right time during our meal so it wouldn't just be sitting around and she packed it very carefully on ice so it would be fresh when we got it home. Just an extremely attentive server.
Additionally the food was great and so was the ambiance. Loved the vibe here.
this was a Mother's day dinner. We have been there a couple of times before and were pleased with the food and service so I recommend that we make reservations for dinner. This day was a disaster!!! First of all...when we arrived there was a large poster board with a very limited, expensive menu. There was no mention of this at the time of booking. We were told that the regular menu ended at 4pm and that these were the only options we would have. It was too late and too crowed to go anywhere else so we stayed. Our server was quick to get to us, but that is when the 'fun' started. Once we all figured out what we were ordering, which was well over $20 a plate, we were told that there were absolutely no changes allowed to the menu because all the food was prepped ahead of time, so we just enjoyed the bread and chatted for a while. We noticed that we were well into a half hour and our food still had not been brought to the table. We asked our waitress if the food was coming soon and she told us at that it was going to take at least an hour, which she failed to mention when we ordered. After waiting the hour the food had still not arrived so my husband talked to the manager (she never once visited our table to explain the wait and our server never apologized either) Finally an hour and a half after we ordered, our food arrived. Our dinner was mediocre at best. I don't think we have ever had such a horrible experience at a restaurant before. The manager on duty did give us a 10% discount for the wait, but I am not sure if we will be returning for a while.
Went for Mothers Day so very busy and took awhile for food. Normally do not have to wait that long. But they had good breadsticks so that helped. I have 2 small child so that was the only thing about wait time - luckily I requested crayons which they had so that kept children occupied. Their fried fish is so delicious. Plan on going back next Mothers Day.
I along with friends come there quite often and that is why I recommended it to my son for Mothers Day this year.
We were seated at the time of our reservation on Mother’s Day. Our waiter Stephen was very attentive and accommodating. Everyone enjoyed our food and we loved the bloody Mary’s .
Our server Stephen was amazing and very honest, attentative and helpful. The food was not good the drinks were weak and not blended well.
We came for Mother's Day. It was busy but food could have been a little less cooked but warmer. Waitress was great.
We went here for aan early Friday night dinner. The service was good, the location was great - waterfront, and we had a nice table by the window. There was plenty of outdoor seating too! We had raw oysters, which were good but from Louisiana and not Florida - but they were tasty! I had the shrimp taco's that were very tasty and the shrimp was cooked nicely, but there weren't many shrimp. It was mainly tortilla and lettuce. It had good taste though. The other person ordered Captains Platter. This had shrimp, sea scallops, flounder, and a crab cake. everything was good except for the flounder. It was mushy and didn't have much of a taste. One forkful was all he ate of that. The rest of the food was tasty. If you are from Maryland, you probably wont think much of the crab cake. Nobody does crab like Maryland! But these were good.
I will go back. The service was fine, the view very pretty and dinner, overall was good. They don't serve huge portions (which I appreciate) and the waitress checked back several times without seeming over-bearing.
Delicious food and fantastic ambiance
Not impressed. Was here with my daughter. She ordered a dirty martini, and I tried to order a drink from the menu which the waiter told me was "gross." He said he would come up with something for me (suggested a tequila sunrise to which I said no.) I stopped him when I realized there was sangria on the main menu. He brought the martini with a side glass of "dirty rocks" which we ignored. Realized he charged an extra $3 for them. The mussel appetizer was great, but that is where it stops. I tried to order the redfish, but again was told it was "gross." So I ordered the mediterranean snapper and my daughter, the flounder. Neither of us enjoyed our meals. Tasteless and unimaginative. Daughter's salad came at the end of the meal. I think my idea of "gross" and the waiter's differed. Plus I never asked for his opinion, but what do you do when you are told what you are ordering is "gross."?
Beautiful place with great view and service was outstanding. The captains platter that I had was good, not great for the cost of $24.99. They did remove the scallops since I am allergic, and added a couple shrimp in place of them I was told. Guess I am too spoiled by the seafood in the Florida Keys where I used to live, the freshness and creativity seemed to be lacking just a bit. I would go back if in the area again, and give it a second try. Maybe I ordered wrong. Everyone else in our party seemed happy with their food.
The food was excellent! We all had a very good meal. The service was prompt and our table was lovely. After dinner we went to the Rum Bar and was greeted by the bartender who was very efficient in taking our order. We would definitely recommend this restaurant in the future and will be back with more quests and family as well. The decor and atmosphere is wonderful.
Nice n quick
Very disappointing. We should have listened to the poor reviews on TripAdvisor. Service was poor and so was the food. It actually could have been good but appetizer and entrees came out at the same time and everything was cold.
Our server was very overwhelmed. Had the service been better, this would have been a 5 star visit.
Great location, friendly service, great food, and not mention there was absolutely no wait time! We will definitely be going again real soon! We really enjoyed this restaurant as opposed to your typical “chain” restaurants. If you haven’t been there go! It is worth it!
Food was good. Many menu options. Service was very slow.
My husband and I broke a rule we never go out any occasion Mother’s Day Father’s Day Easter Thanksgiving Christmas but he broke a rule because we have been to catchers a week before that and I have the best lobster roll I’ve ever had and I’m from New England but Easter Sunday was a real disappointment I could’ve stayed home and had ham because that was all it really was my husband and I broke a rule we never go out on special holidays but we had been there a week earlier and I had a great lobster roll so I figured what the heck .I could’ve stayed home and made a ham because that’s all we ate .The lamb was tough we couldn’t eat it they ran out of salmon and stuffed flounder I say ran out of maybe they supplied it later but by then I was no longer hungry the best thing about Easter Sunday was our waitress we spent a lot on drinks and everything came to like $150 which is a lot for two people but what we didn’t get In food we made up in drinks unfortunately
Friends and I have gone to Catches for Thanksgiving and Easter Sunday buffet's for the past 2-3 years. We are all widowed and do not have family in Florida. Our first foray's into Catches Buffet's were great and reasonable. The food coordinated with the occasion but having reserved w/Catches for Easter Sunday 2 days ago, we feel that it has become "same old, same old". The shrimp was "you peel" which I did not recall from previous holidays; the lamb was tough if you "self-served: a thicker piece (no Mint Sauce offered nor even mint jelly (ich), the green beans are always al dente (good) and the roasted corn was good as well. The larger desserts like pies, cake slices and cheese cake always go first and run out quickly and are not replaced with identical most popular items while the petite fours remain on the table getting old and dried out.
I will say that lunch and a drink at Rum River or casual lunch or dinner on the upper deck is good as well (outdoors if not too hot) I'm just not big on the Special Occasion Holiday Buffet's as I was initially. I almost forgot - THE SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE!!!
It took 90 minutes to get our food on a Thursday.
Was so very good and Stephen our waiter was simply wonderful!
The food was very good however the service was extremely slow it took us over 2 hours for dinner and between appetizers and dinner it was over 45 mins very very long and we had to be some where and even advised the waitress we needed to leave so when are food arrived we had less then 15 mins to eat and leave so did not make it enjoyable when your eating so fast.
As always the service and food was great. Manager stopped by the table several times to ensure things were going well. Large portions. They have all you can eat fish and chips but nobody in the group got past the first plate without being full.
We had a fantastic night at Catches. Our server was amazing. The place is beautiful and has a friendly, upbeat feel to it. The food was great...especially the crab cakes and crab fries. Going to Catches was a perfect way to end a wonderful vacation.
Steak was a sub par cut and not prepared to order. Baked potato was room temperature. My wife’s meal was good
Seated on time but waiter and dinner took too long and service was poor
Reservations were for 5:45p. the four of us got there about 3 minutes ahead of time. Restaurant seemed quiet and they were turning people away. Plenty of open tables could be seen. That...should have been our first clue. We were seated and then NOTHING happened...Server ignored us. We went back to the front (30 minutes later) and got the the woman there to bring drinks. Another 30 minutes passed and one of us got up to get bread plates and flatware from another table after the server put bread on the table. She took our food order and about another 30 minutes later one of us went to the front to see what the problem was. Answer....the kitchen is backed up and we are short help. Since we weren't in any hurry we tolerated this treatment. Food was good but the wait to get it was the worse service I have ever seen. The bill was adjusted for the inconvenience but not a one of us will ever eat there again. So sad for your restaurant ....word of mouth advertising can hurt.
Overall just an excellent experience. The food was fantastic.
Excellent food and service
Nice seating beside the marina
