Catches Waterfront Grille Ratings and Reviews
The servers are friendly, the food quite tasty. The ambience is, well, there. It is bright and open, but the acoustics are such that you don't hear other table conversation. The value? I've had the same quality for less money in the area. The clam chowder though, was delicious, I don't know that I've had better.
Went there on New Years Day to celebrate a Birthday for out of town friend. New Years day was cold and windy. At times the dining room felt as though it was out doors. It was very cold! Asked the waitress if the heat could be turned on and nothing was done.
Had an awesome lunch before so booked New Year's Eve. Wonderful server & appetizer. But, $30 baked grouper was tough in the middle like a grisly steak...was a real effort to cut with a knife.
To be fair, Mgmt noticed my disappointment and pressed to inquire what I needed. I was so frustrated and very positive I didn't want another previously frozen entre. I didn't want to complain only to wait longer for something more edible.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner. The bacon wrapped scallops were outstanding. My one daughter really enjoyed the soft shelled crab. My other 2 daughters thought the crabmeat ravioli was ok, but wouldn't order again. Overall a very good dinner for the occasion.
I love this local seafood restaurant! Great food! Awesome atmosphere and great staff!! Had the Ultimate Fish Sandwich it was worth the $16.99 says serves 2...it definitely does!! Unless you are REALLY hungry and the flavor/quality was amazing!! My father had the Redfish and wow was that great as well, best Blackened!
I have eaten there prior and was tremendously impressed with the service and the quality of the seafood and taste. I had managed a seafood restaurant before, so when I go out, I expect service and fine dining as I can mostly serve better dishes at home than in most restaurants.
This experience was not what I had expected and with discussion with my wife, Lobster House was a more inviting dinner date for our Anniversary. Service was ok, to be expected at most restaurants. The dishes were adequate. My wife had the Captains Fair and I had the Mahi. Flavor was disappointing, must less than the cost of the plates. The dishes were somewhat overcooked with sauces somewhat "interesting". Wine was good as was the crab cake. I did taste my wife's plate, too..
It was my Anniversary and wanted to give my wife something special. The online reservation asked if it was a special occasion, yet no one asked or knew, then why ask? I have had fine experiences with special occasions with other restaurants (management and servers).
I did tip well, it is not the servers total fault. It is management tone, acceptance of less than highest service and quality standards.
If you are looking for an advertised "Best Seafood" in a sports bar atmosphere, then this is your place.
I invited my family for a dinner and hoped to see more Christmas decorations. The pasta with scallops was outstanding. Usually at other restaurants they serve the tiny scallops but these were the big ones, the chef served lots of sauce... not dry.
We miss the Rum Runner beer from a few years ago, please try to get it back. That is what got us back more often the men enjoyed that beer!!!!!
The special buckets of seafood is so good as well. The price on the selected days is a good deal.
We have been going to Catches since we moved here 6 years ago and have never had a bad meal. We’ve eaten outside on the patio, inside the restaurant that has a very nice nautical theme and downstairs at the more casual outside venue with live music and the same menu as the restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious, drinks and service are really great. The view is very nice with it being right on the water. We bring our family and friends there when they come to visit. I highly recommend it!
Ordered the Gator Tail for appetizer, it was way overcooked. Not a lot of people in restaurant but they seated everyone in one area so felt like it was crowded and noisy. We had Salmon and Stuffed Flounder, the salmon was overcooked and the stuff flounder was mushy and it had way too much sauce. The place was not very full for a Friday evening and I can see why. I doubt this place will be in business for very much longer. Our server did an excellent job though. But I would not recommend this place. There are way better places for less money!!
We realize it was post Irma so my I have to give them credit for being open. It was my husbands birthday and my mother in law choose the place. Best part of the night was the berry sangria and company. My son had mild boneless wings that were not mild and were a little soggy. Their baked potatoes were off, they seemed as if they were cooked in the microwave and then recooked. My husband and father in law enjoyed their fish, my other son and I had the fried Cod, it was just ok. Overall for being days after a massive hurricane it wasn't a valiant effort to stay open, but there is improvement to be had. Mother in law said service is always slow and too relaxed so that is a big issue for me.
Nice place with with great ambiance, nautical theme - fighting chairs at the bar, big game fishing rods and reels. Seafood was good, nothing gourmet and value was good - Thursday special mussels, shrimp and scallops. Nice view of Port Richey harbor although area is pretty run down.
It was my early birthday celebration. My daughter in law and I both got the grilled captains platter, when I asked the waiter what the veggie was he said green beans in a garlic butter sauce. I went with something else. When the meal came the shrimp, scallops, fish and crab cake were swimming in some kind of butter/garlic sauce TOO MUCH and very overwhelming. I layed my seafood on top of my mashed potatoes. I told the waiter who said I could have gotten the same platter but fried. Don't like fried. I think the Captains Platter with grilled or broiled shrimp, scallops, fish and a crab cake should be that and that alone. Why does it need the sauce. VERY DISAPPOINTED. My husband and son were ok with what they got and my daughter in law ended up getting sick to her stomach when we got outside. Not everyone can eat that kind of stuff and thing is a little would have gone a long ways.
This was mine and my husband's first time dining at your restaurant. He ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the seafood alfredo. Both dishes were well supplied with shrimp and mine with scallops. The dishes were excellent with great prices. The service was awesome and atmosphere was very relaxing. We will definitely be back.
