Catches Waterfront Grille Ratings and Reviews
We have been going to Catches since we moved here 6 years ago and have never had a bad meal. We’ve eaten outside on the patio, inside the restaurant that has a very nice nautical theme and downstairs at the more casual outside venue with live music and the same menu as the restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious, drinks and service are really great. The view is very nice with it being right on the water. We bring our family and friends there when they come to visit. I highly recommend it!
Ordered the Gator Tail for appetizer, it was way overcooked. Not a lot of people in restaurant but they seated everyone in one area so felt like it was crowded and noisy. We had Salmon and Stuffed Flounder, the salmon was overcooked and the stuff flounder was mushy and it had way too much sauce. The place was not very full for a Friday evening and I can see why. I doubt this place will be in business for very much longer. Our server did an excellent job though. But I would not recommend this place. There are way better places for less money!!
We realize it was post Irma so my I have to give them credit for being open. It was my husbands birthday and my mother in law choose the place. Best part of the night was the berry sangria and company. My son had mild boneless wings that were not mild and were a little soggy. Their baked potatoes were off, they seemed as if they were cooked in the microwave and then recooked. My husband and father in law enjoyed their fish, my other son and I had the fried Cod, it was just ok. Overall for being days after a massive hurricane it wasn't a valiant effort to stay open, but there is improvement to be had. Mother in law said service is always slow and too relaxed so that is a big issue for me.
Nice place with with great ambiance, nautical theme - fighting chairs at the bar, big game fishing rods and reels. Seafood was good, nothing gourmet and value was good - Thursday special mussels, shrimp and scallops. Nice view of Port Richey harbor although area is pretty run down.
It was my early birthday celebration. My daughter in law and I both got the grilled captains platter, when I asked the waiter what the veggie was he said green beans in a garlic butter sauce. I went with something else. When the meal came the shrimp, scallops, fish and crab cake were swimming in some kind of butter/garlic sauce TOO MUCH and very overwhelming. I layed my seafood on top of my mashed potatoes. I told the waiter who said I could have gotten the same platter but fried. Don't like fried. I think the Captains Platter with grilled or broiled shrimp, scallops, fish and a crab cake should be that and that alone. Why does it need the sauce. VERY DISAPPOINTED. My husband and son were ok with what they got and my daughter in law ended up getting sick to her stomach when we got outside. Not everyone can eat that kind of stuff and thing is a little would have gone a long ways.
This was mine and my husband's first time dining at your restaurant. He ordered the shrimp scampi and I ordered the seafood alfredo. Both dishes were well supplied with shrimp and mine with scallops. The dishes were excellent with great prices. The service was awesome and atmosphere was very relaxing. We will definitely be back.
Everything was very good, service was great. One problem, noticed food that was under a table, not cleaned up. A table that was never cleaned up . Dirty dishes etc.... We were there a good 45 minutes. I was facing in that direction, that is what I got to look at. Servers walked by, never got cleaned up.
We enjoyed our Birthday celebration. The food was excellent (mahi, crab claws, filet minon) and the wait staff went out of their way to assist us with cracking the crab claws at the table. The staff was very accommodating one of us in a wheel chair and made the dinner very special with a surprise cheesecake dessert.
As always, the food was outstanding! Our server was at the 'top of her game' and it was a most enjoyable lunch visit for our group of four. I've recommended Catches to several of my friends. it's an 'easy' drive for me from Clearwater and I met my friends 1/2 way (they're from Homosassa). Thank you, Catches, for a wonderful dining experience!
The food was decent but wasn't exactly worth what I paid . The experience was all ruined overall by the first impression of the hostess . It was the last Mother's Day with my mom because she's headed to England I don't know when I will be able to see her again so I wanted to take her to a nice restaurant . I was extremely disappointed and so was my pregnant wife . My mother and her husband were also very disappointed . The hostess came off extremely rude and I do not want to describe this person in an inappropriate term but the behavior was that bad . We were treated badly because we were late even though we had a reservation , they also expect us to know their protocol when it was our first time . The young lady that walked us to our table treated us like cattle and Ridley snap at us when we asked if we could sit in a booth . We were told that the bulls were reserved and there was about 12 boots that were available for the next hour and a half that we sat and ate . Our order was also messed up . And I think we were greeted by the manager but I couldn't tell because he never introduced his name he just nonchalantly asked how are we doing and he could clearly tell we looked miserable but didn't ask if you could help in anyway . For that kind of money that I spent I expected a whole different experience I've had better service at the Olive Garden which I probably would've spent half the price .
