My husband and I had an open evening for a kid-free dinner. He got steak with chimichurri sauce and I got the seafood trio. Everything was really great. I have to say, my dirty martini was a little bland and my husband's manhattan was a little watered down because of the loose ice. However, that would not stop us from coming back again. Overall, very good dining experience.
As always Catch 23 was great. Consistent good service and good food. I had the skirt steak and it was delish along with the fish chowder. My wife had the fish salad and couldn't finish it all and it was loaded with fish. Our other friend had the grouper and remarked that it was great.
Very disappointing. Although the food is decent, the service is horrible. There is a constant change in servers, much more than average. It is badly in need of remodeling. Restrooms are small and not well kept. Although have dined here for years never felt welcome or ever greeted by management. If they remain in business, it will be a long time before I try again.
The food was better than what we expected: The oysters were fresh, large and delicious. The lobster bisque was quite good. The crab guacamole needed a little more citrus and zing. The only negative was the lobster escargot - the preparation overpowered the lobster. Lindsay was our waitress and she was outstanding. The service was exemplary even though the restaurant was near capacity inside. The menu is quite varied with a focus on seafood. Depending on your taste and appetite, the tab can exceed your average mid-price restaurant, although, for the quality and taste, the prices are not out of line.
Matt, our waiter was very personable and did a good job. I ordered the special salmon of the day and it was fine. Hubby ordered the fish trio and couldn't eat one of the selections as it was REALLY dry. The restaurant is very attractive and we probably will return.
Catch Twenty-Three can have it's moderate ups and downs, though this visit was definitely one of the better ones. Service was very good, as was the food. The fish was cooked nicely (NOT over done), as were the veggies. I really hope Catch Twenty-Three gets to a level of consistency that we can rely on it.
We have dined here many, many times. The food is always excellent, the only negative is the service. There always seems to be new servers and in all the times we have dined never been approached by a manager or owner. We only go back because of the food quality.
Main course was subpar for the price point; have had better at numerous other places nearby. Dessert item was listed as "Key Lime Pie", but was more like cheesecake. Place was so noisy we could barely hear each other talking at the same table. Eighty dollars for two, and only one glass of sangria each. Never again.
What has happened to this place? Is it under new management? did they hire all new staff? I took my wife and son for dinner last weekend and was just amazed at the difference from a few months ago. We ordered a dozen raw oysters and they came piled on top of each other. Raw oysters should never be stacked on top of each other once opened. The dirty shells on top are now contaminating the oysters on the bottom. We complained to the server and she indicated that they would take them off the bill, that did not happen. The service and the wait for our orders once placed were way too long, and once again we complained to the server who said that the kitchen was slammed. The restaurant was only half filled with guests (looks like the word is out on the lousy service and food preparation). The remainder of our dining experience was less than what I expect when going out to dine, knowing I could have done much better by staying home and helping my wife prepare a delicious gourmet meal. Needless to say that was our last visit to Catch23.
