Catch - San Francisco
To foster this spirit, the chefs rotate their menus regularly, accommodating seasonal produce and fresh catches of local, sustainably sourced seafood. Each dish showcases these ingredients while incorporating Mediterranean influences and minimalist Californian sensibilities toward composition and presentation.
Since opening in October 2002, Catch is the perfect place to gather for every occasion – handcrafted artisanal cocktails and appetizers at the bar, a cozy romantic dinner for two by the fireplace.

I have never been disappointed with the food at Catch and find the restaurant to be comfortable and quiet for dining and conversation. The bar meets or exceeds expectations and far exceeds quality of other places in the neighborhood. Good place to meet for happy hour. Nice bar snack menu also.
Comfortable, welcoming neighborhood gem. Excellent food, service, ambiance, and one can have a conversation here. Two visits in the last few months confirm that this is my "go to" dinner spot in the Castro. The cioppino (both visits) was top notch (fresh, properly prepared shrimp, clams, mussels, and white fish and salmon in a delicious, piquant, flavorful tomato broth. My companion had the grilled salmon one visit and the braised short rib (boneless) and said they were excellent. I saw some yummy-looking French onion soup gratinee and pasta alfredo going by to other diners. Courteous, prompt service. We'll return.
Great selection of entrees with and without seafood. Friendly and efficient service.
I love sitting by the fireplace and eating the wonderful food and excellent service
excellent service! Great Manhattan cocktail, not sure what they add but I had a second! Food tasty and well presented. The owner even took time to greet us and have a pleasant chat.
Good job Catch!
Birthday dinner went perfect.
I was honestly looking forward to eating here because we had a Groupon and was looking forward to an enjoyable night. I made reservations so we didn't have to wait. They were kinda slow to serve us, maybe because we were young. They never brought us out bread until we asked. The food was only decent, our Seafood Cioppino was very salty but they were nice enough to make us a new, less salty one. THe Lobster fettuccine had nice bits of lobster. At the end of the meal they refused our Groupon despite us following all the stipulations (dinner, not on certain holidays). The only time I'd go back it to try and reuse our Groupon but other than that I would not go back.
Good food, good wait staff. One of my favorite Castro go to places for food.
The food was OK. Nothing spectacular or good enough to warrant a visit back to the restaurant. We sat near a open window that was covered by plastic. Unfortunately every time a diesel vehicle went by the fumes came in through the window.
Our server was excellent!
This was our first time at Catch and it was lovely. Service was outstanding, fish perfectly cooked, interesting choices accompanying the meat/fish. We'll definitely go back there. Plus half a block from Castro, quite near the theater.
Great appetizers, seafood, steak, veggies and desserts. The service is always friendly and attentive. We’ve never had a bad meal here. Our favorite place to take guests from out-of-town.
We had a good time. Delicious food and attentive service.
We all thought the food was amazing! The server was very good as well. Well highly recommend Catch to friends.
As good as it was when it first opened. Both the Restaurant and the Chef have kept up with the changing times in regard to food trends and have kept it "Fresh".
Very pretty and soothing ambiance. I believe we avoided any rush by dining @ 6:00 on a Sunday.
Seated and greeted promptly, water poured, hot french bread and butter delivered and enough for a table of 5 with a refresh after the 1st basked was devoured.
Price - Pricey... certainly for some items, which I will reference below.
Sides & Appetizers: Very nice selection again not overwhelming and could be made a meal of.
Presentation: Very attractive
Temperature: All food hot (which is often not the case for me)
Menu: Varied choices to cover all food desires but not overwhelming.
Favorites: Calamari Starter ($15) the menu says with green beans but geez, if they were there, there were only 5 stalks. Breaded and cooked perfectly.
Roasted Red and Golden Beet Salad was gorgeous, refreshing and wonderful combination of flavors ($13)
Glazed Black Cod ($29), 3 diners had this and it was wonderful, truly melted in your mouth. On a gorgeous bed of wonderful, squash, green beans, spinach, almonds, capers.
Wild Salmon ($28) cooked beautifully
Lobster Fettuccine ($28) just what you would expect from a Fettuccine, but honestly not worth $28 compared to the fresh fish dishes @ $28.
There was a "special roasted Cauliflower and Potato Soup" I was dying to try but a BOWL (no cup) was $16.00. THIS WAS THE OVER THE TOP PRICED ITEM I REFERRED TO EARLIER. COME ON, IT'S SOUP!
We had 3 lovely dessert but honestly I can only remember one, a Bourbon Bread pudding and the others were all very delicious.
I would return to this local gem, but only for a very special occasion. I just can't afford placed like this anymore and unfortunately this has now become "the norm", just not normal for me.
Catch has a great menu and I go there for special occasions like birthdays and introducing a new friend to people. Service and fruit based desserts are outstanding.
Our favorite restaurant in the Castro!. Service is always excellent and the food is delicious! We love the mussels every time. My salmon over risotto was perfection!
Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and the service was outstanding!
We were seated by the fire pit which was perfect. Had a martini and ordered the lobster tacos to start. They were wonderful. I ordered the scallop appetizer and a side of grilled asparagus for my main. The 2 scallops were seared and each placed on top of portobello caps that were baked with an herb mozzarella. They were delicious! My partner ordered the salmon with risotto and that was also cooked perfectly. We would definitely order all the same items again. The service was great. We did not feel rushed and would return again.
Wonderful seafood dishes served in inviting seating choices -- friendly service too!
Great food and service.
Consistently delicious food. Brought 2 newbies who loved it. Great service. Good wine list, always a wonderful dinner at Catch.
Been there 3-4 times already. Very good food and service. Will go back!
Been going there for years. Aways consistent, welcoming, value.
Very good food, nice service. Beautiful place in the heart of Castro.
The kitchen closes a little early on monday night (8.30)
Extraordinary taste (the best risotto ever), warm ambiance by the fire pit and wonderful, friendly service. My new fav in SF.
My fiancé and I been dinning here for almost 9 years and we consider it one of our favorite restaurants in SF. Love the Atlantic Salmon and Oysters 👌🏼
Amazing happy hour food items. Love the calamari and chicken bites with a spicy sauce with slaw. Nice to have a happy hour starting early.
We went there at 6 pm and had a great evening . It wasn’t crowded then and the service and food were great !
Catch is my go to place! Wonderful service,!always excellent food and great ambiance. Hard to find such a consistent place in SF. love it!
Food was good as 'typical', service was their average, which was quite good, without being intrusive. Could I recommend to a friend, of course, likely first response to a "good seafood?" restaurant suggestion. Overall, very good, -Service, ambiance, consistently quality food, slightly higher end pricing but overall - satisfying, at all levels.
We are HUGE fans of CATCH. It's one of our out-of-our-home homes.
My husband and I have been to Catch many times and have always had good experiences. This time was no exception. We were entertaining out of town guests and everything was perfect.
A great seafood restaurant in a residential part of San Francisco. Definitely worth the trip away from the tourist and business areas. The food was all fresh and properly cooked. Best of all were the amazing flavors — savory.
We were a group of 5 people and had a lovely meal at Catch. The crab risotto with halibut was exceptional as was the amazing bread pudding ! Can’t wait to go back !
I’ve walked by Catch for years but never took the dive to try it. So glad I did. It’s one of the Castro originals and has been in business for over a decade. It’s stood the test of time because the food is amazing. The seafood is fresh and the flavors in each dish are complex!
The kitchen at Catch is consistent in preparing and delivering to customers some delicious food and the service is attentive and gracious. I return there often.
Delicious and such a relaxing, intimate atmosphere. Food was phenomenal and fresh, and the service was very friendly and quick. Definitely will come again, and highly recommend!
Food was fantastic and service was very attentive and nice. Already recommended to my friends and going to come back more often.
Catch is always consistent. Food is great. Service is equally great. Very reliable and always a good experience. Love having this restaurant in the Castro.
Met a college friend for dinner, sat by a fire pit on the porch which was delightful. The service was attentive but not obtrusive and the different appetizers and entree were all very good. The street car stop was a half a block which made it convenient.
