Catch - San Francisco
To foster this spirit, the chefs rotate their menus regularly, accommodating seasonal produce and fresh catches of local, sustainably sourced seafood. Each dish showcases these ingredients while incorporating Mediterranean influences and minimalist Californian sensibilities toward composition and presentation.
Since opening in October 2002, Catch is the perfect place to gather for every occasion – handcrafted artisanal cocktails and appetizers at the bar, a cozy romantic dinner for two by the fireplace.

A great seafood restaurant in a residential part of San Francisco. Definitely worth the trip away from the tourist and business areas. The food was all fresh and properly cooked. Best of all were the amazing flavors — savory.
We were a group of 5 people and had a lovely meal at Catch. The crab risotto with halibut was exceptional as was the amazing bread pudding ! Can’t wait to go back !
I’ve walked by Catch for years but never took the dive to try it. So glad I did. It’s one of the Castro originals and has been in business for over a decade. It’s stood the test of time because the food is amazing. The seafood is fresh and the flavors in each dish are complex!
The kitchen at Catch is consistent in preparing and delivering to customers some delicious food and the service is attentive and gracious. I return there often.
Delicious and such a relaxing, intimate atmosphere. Food was phenomenal and fresh, and the service was very friendly and quick. Definitely will come again, and highly recommend!
Food was fantastic and service was very attentive and nice. Already recommended to my friends and going to come back more often.
Catch is always consistent. Food is great. Service is equally great. Very reliable and always a good experience. Love having this restaurant in the Castro.
Met a college friend for dinner, sat by a fire pit on the porch which was delightful. The service was attentive but not obtrusive and the different appetizers and entree were all very good. The street car stop was a half a block which made it convenient.
Great food and service but seating is too close for any privacy or if other tables are noisy
Still a place worth visiting fit good seafood dinner
This was my third visit to Catch and although the food was good I will not be returning, for one reason:
IT IS TOO EXPENSIVE and not really worth it.
We had a groupon which took $40 off our bill and yet it was still outrageous.
Very average food and no seafood in the meaning of seafood restaurant
The server, Peige went out of his way to ensure our meal was perfect. One of the guests has a severe gluten allergy so Peige and the chef came up with a meal that she was able to enjoy. Peige also shares his knowledge about the history of the building. Our meals were superb; I’d strongly recommend the mixed grill.
Dining out for life. We appreciate Catch for giving back to the community.
We've been going to Catch for years, but always manage to sit outside or on the veranda. When we went we had an inside table near the kitchen (hot), the noise was deafening, and the food was sub-par. The fish overcooked and dry (and this is a seafood restaurant, so this really surprised me) and the chicken was tough.
We will probably limit our visits to Catch to Sunday Brunch, when we have had better experiences.
We have dined at Catch many times, mostly on occasions. This time it was for Easter brunch. The food was excellent and our server Kathleen was wonderful: friendly, attentive and efficient. I would highly recommend Catch for anyone looking for a good dining experience in the Castro.
We flew in from Phoenix to spend Easter weekend with our daughter in SanFrancisco. Due to traffic we were going to be late for our reservation. When we called Catch they were so accommodating telling us to take our time and drive safely! When we arrived at Catch nearly 30 minutes later we were greeting with kindness as our table was ready and waiting for us. From there things only got better! The server Andreas took very good care of us! The food at Catch was amazing! My husband’s Cioppino was the best he has ever had and full of succulent seafood. My Grilled Salmon was cooked medium well as I had requested and so good! My daughter’s flat iron steak (in the specials menu) was delicious! We totally enjoyed a relaxing and scrumptious dinner at Catch and will most definitely return whenever we are in San Francisco! I highly recommend Catch for delicious food and great service!!!
Love artichokes! And they have a Great way of preparing & serving!
Quiet setting where friends can have a conversation. Wait staff very good. Cioppino excellent.
Lovely brunch with excellent service and no feeling of being rushed. I went there with a friend I hadn't seen in quite sometime.
Quite a happy bar crowd by the afternoon I almost joined them!
The Mussels appetizer is on my short list of best dishes I have ever eaten. The service was outstanding, the ambiance was perfect and the noise was just right. Overall, I would recommend this place to everyone.
Good food and drink. Hospitable. Expensive. Watch out for the San Francisco health service charge which they include with the food and beverage charges and then collect taxes on it.
Great service and experience as usual
Quick friendly service, unique atmosphere with table next to patio fireplace, food was excellent!
Great food as always. Kathleen has to be one of the best servers in San Francisco, if not even beyond! Catch is always consistently good. Definitely recommend!
Consistently great food and service every time I go!!! Love this place.
Our meal was excellent and the service was good. Would definitely go back.
Exceptionally bad service. The drink order was 50% accurate, two out of three food items missing
Everything we ate was amazing! I ordered the braised short ribs under the recommendation of our food server. So delicious!
Nothing particularly stands out, other than a mediocre brunch. Small selection and zero ambiance.
Mouse. There was a mouse at dinner tonight. My husband and I saw the critter run across the floor to the table opposite ours. We very quietly informed our waiter who spoke with the manager and came back to say this - “well, it must’ve come from outside when someone opened the door.” Then offered to move us to a different table. Um, ok. Thanks, I guess?
To be clear, we didn’t ask for, nor received any comped portion of our meal. What are they supposed to do- shut down the restaurant as they look for Remy? (from Ratatouille for all you non-Disney fans). I guess they handled it the only way they could, but an apology from the manager should’ve been expected.
As for the food, the calamari was hammered out of the fryer. Scallops and tiger shrimp special drowning in a mess of heavy garlic cream. My 1-star review is a gift. Only thing worse would be a visit from the SF Department of Public Health.
Service was painfully slow...drink order (pretty simple: Hendricks and Club Soda) was made incorrectly (with lime juice). Took forever to get food and went without water for quite some time.
Overall, food was good but I won't be going back.
Catch just never disappoints. I opted for the branzino (which was a lot of food), but so good, I ate the whole fish! My dining companion enjoyed her salmon and also finished it. We had no room for dessert, but decided we will come back when we have another event in the neighborhood.
It was a good experience
If you have a chance to catch (excuse the pun) the Chilean Sea Bass on the specials menu...it is out of this world! Just delicious.. :)
Great food and service! One of the best seafood restaurants in San Francisco.
The food is always amazing here. The server Cathleen is one of the best in the business. She is so attentive and before you can even think to ask for something, she brings it to the table. She is the reason I keep dining in this establishment!
I was very happy with this restaurant. We had the short ribs and the cioppino and both were excellent.
the short ribs were tender with added red chard and potato. The cioppino was served nice and hot with plenty of seafood in it. Our server was a pro. She was right there for everything with a winning attitude too. I'd want a table in her area for sure next time. The drinks were good and reasonably priced.
Food was not hot
Fish soup ok server was nice but whole experience was mediocre
Food within 15 minutes. Prepared beautifully. Only 3 small pieces of bread with the tartare. Grilled salmon was impeccable. Drinks were a bit overpriced for the quality.
Great location and food. You can reserve on Open
