I was very happy with this restaurant. We had the short ribs and the cioppino and both were excellent.
the short ribs were tender with added red chard and potato. The cioppino was served nice and hot with plenty of seafood in it. Our server was a pro. She was right there for everything with a winning attitude too. I'd want a table in her area for sure next time. The drinks were good and reasonably priced.
Food was not hot
Fish soup ok server was nice but whole experience was mediocre
Food within 15 minutes. Prepared beautifully. Only 3 small pieces of bread with the tartare. Grilled salmon was impeccable. Drinks were a bit overpriced for the quality.
Great location and food. You can reserve on Open
Fresh, exquisitely prepared, delicious seafood that is reasonably priced for the portions that you receive. Fantastic specialty cocktails. Very good, attentive, friendly service. We had a great experience at Catch. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars across the board is that the seafood cioppino I ordered was mostly fish - the ratio of other seafood to fish was much lower than I was expecting. Having said that, I have never had a seafood cioppino other than the one I had there in which every seafood element was so PERFECTLY cooked. The clams, shrimp, mussels and fish were tender and amazing. The crab-tomato broth was excellent. I was just disappointed that there were only 2 shrimp, 2 or 3 clams and 4 mussels or so amongst a whole lot of fish. But it was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return.
Great plave for brunch, friendly team and amazing food.
Great cocktails, good seafood and steak, and surprisingly good bread.
Second time here. First was a charm-this time not so. As an example the fries and cheese appetizer was not warm and quite greasy
Wonderful dinner, friendly staff, a bit pricey but worth it for the delicious meals we enjoyed.
Outstanding lunch. Food was hot, fresh and delicious!
Everything was perfect! We had the lobster bisque ( soup of the day), grill Brussel sprouts, and the mixed seafood grill to split. I paired mine with a glass of Malbec. The food was perfect & the service was superb.
We will be back again. Even though we split everything, we still ended up with left overs. The portions are on the large size.
I've been here for special occasions with a date, and I've come with large groups. In each case the food, service, and experience were fantastic.
I highly recommend it!
Excellent food and nice atmosphere. My brother and his wife and I really enjoyed our dinner there.
I can always count on having interesting menu choices and am never disappointed. The ambiance of the front room only enhances the experience.
The food was wonderful but the menu needs to have more choices! Its pricey too. Would eat there only with Groupon
Excellent food and service. We also dinner the fireplace on this chilly evening. Took the chill off, very cozy.
We love coming to catch. The service is always amazing and attentive. They are very friendly and instinctively know what you want. The food is excellent.
We recently hosted our out of town guests that were in the mood for some great seafood. We enjoyed a variety of special dishes, and look forward to returning.
Amazing fresh seafood uniquely prepared, never disappointing. GREAT service by entire staff.
Attentiveness by server Cathleen was a high point in a very pleasant dinner. She made sure I got what I wanted with very good timing. Yay!
We went for a family birthday dinner. We had a 5 1/2-year-old boy with us. They did a wonderful pasta with light tomato sauce for him since he doesn’t like fish very much. We had a great beet and pear salad. The entre was scallops and shrimp. Very fresh. The raspberry pannacotta was excellent.
Always great! Food is really good served by some of the best servers in San Francisco. Standing out is Alberto, the wonderful server who has been there for a long time, but pretty much all the staff is fantastic.
Open 7 days, great location, great food, great drinks. Definitely a keeper in this very competitive restaurant landscape!
Food was delicious, but the wine was overpriced. Also, It was very loud with staff members running around chaotically bumping into my chair.
Went looking for a romantic seafood spot and reserved a space a month in advance anticipating a Valentine's day rush. We were put into a corner near the register. The pictures make the atmosphere look a lot more appealing than it is. Fish was kind of overcooked.
Great valentine dinner. God was great as always. The tuna was not spectacular as it usually is, but everything else was yummy.
This place used to be much better. Food was expensive and everything was really greasy. My fish had a good flavor, but everything else tasted dull. Our server was attentive.
Paid $38 for halibut it was horribly dry.
Lobster bisque was gross
What happened to this place ... use to be decent
One of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco! We are treated wonderfully and the food is superb!
We came here for the first time for a Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant was unsurprisingly busy but the food was cooked to perfection and the service was very attentive. We had scallops on portobello mushrooms for starters and salmon and halibut for the entrée. The flavors of the fish and sides were balanced nicely. We were seated immediately (reservation) next to the fire which was very cosy and appreciated during the 2019 cold snap. The lemon drop cocktails were nice and strong and delicious and don't get me started on that French bread pudding!
My fiance and I went for early Valentines. We were greeted warmly as always and seated at our favorite table on the patio by the fireplace. Jose, the bartender, made me an excellent Martini. Alberto, the waiter, served us with attentiveness and care. The pan seared Halibut was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a celebration of love in the hallowed space where the AIDS Memorial Quilt was born and panels are still displayed on a rotating basis. It always helps us honor those who died and be grateful fie every minute we are given. Catch is a special place and full of love.
Entire menu is overpriced. Servers were attentive, but at times overly so (i.e. coming by too soon after our party requested more time to look at menu). Decor is a bit outdated and patio area was very drafty on the cold, rainy night we went.
Delish- very very good food- richness made up for smaller portions
Cute restaurant. So close to Castro Theater. Excellent food and service. Really a top-notch dining experience.
Food was good. However, our waiter took one of my friends drink before he finished it and forgot one of the orders. Lastly, the hostess tended to one of the three folks in our party.
Excellent black cod and salmon main dishes—-pleasant sit-down dining experience in an area full of fast food eateries, which are fine for what they are but this is nice when dinner is the main event.
We hadn't been to Catch in several years and thought we'd try it again. A very pleasant surprise: the same quality menu with lots of choices, but the quality of the items has improved significantly. Friendly, excellent service, a comfortable environment (didn't have to yell to be heard....what a treat!) and a fabulous meal. Could do with a few more wines by the glass, but a minor quibble. A super dinner!
The meals and drinks were prepared as expected. As far as quality, Catch stands in line with other restaurants with similar ratings. Fairly average.
Wonderful service and delicious entrees- black cod in miso , braised short ribs , skirt steak , scallops- everyone was happy. Seafood chowder and squash bisque were tasty but extremely rich with major cream component. Nice fresh lemon sorbet and ultra rich bread pudding for dessert. I was surprised the restaurant wasnt busier on a Thursday night.
Best food, best service. We have to eat here at least once a month. Sanjay and Kathleen make it like a family dinner, only with better food.
We went to Catch for SF Restaurant Week and the fixed menu had plenty of variety. The starters were very well done (I had the burrata salad) and the mains were incredible (I had the skirt steak). The service was efficient and personable, we felt right at home. Would recommend
very expensive for the quality and quantity of the food
