Food was delicious, but the wine was overpriced. Also, It was very loud with staff members running around chaotically bumping into my chair.
Went looking for a romantic seafood spot and reserved a space a month in advance anticipating a Valentine's day rush. We were put into a corner near the register. The pictures make the atmosphere look a lot more appealing than it is. Fish was kind of overcooked.
Great valentine dinner. God was great as always. The tuna was not spectacular as it usually is, but everything else was yummy.
This place used to be much better. Food was expensive and everything was really greasy. My fish had a good flavor, but everything else tasted dull. Our server was attentive.
Paid $38 for halibut it was horribly dry.
Lobster bisque was gross
What happened to this place ... use to be decent
One of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco! We are treated wonderfully and the food is superb!
We came here for the first time for a Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant was unsurprisingly busy but the food was cooked to perfection and the service was very attentive. We had scallops on portobello mushrooms for starters and salmon and halibut for the entrée. The flavors of the fish and sides were balanced nicely. We were seated immediately (reservation) next to the fire which was very cosy and appreciated during the 2019 cold snap. The lemon drop cocktails were nice and strong and delicious and don't get me started on that French bread pudding!
My fiance and I went for early Valentines. We were greeted warmly as always and seated at our favorite table on the patio by the fireplace. Jose, the bartender, made me an excellent Martini. Alberto, the waiter, served us with attentiveness and care. The pan seared Halibut was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a celebration of love in the hallowed space where the AIDS Memorial Quilt was born and panels are still displayed on a rotating basis. It always helps us honor those who died and be grateful fie every minute we are given. Catch is a special place and full of love.
Entire menu is overpriced. Servers were attentive, but at times overly so (i.e. coming by too soon after our party requested more time to look at menu). Decor is a bit outdated and patio area was very drafty on the cold, rainy night we went.
Delish- very very good food- richness made up for smaller portions
Cute restaurant. So close to Castro Theater. Excellent food and service. Really a top-notch dining experience.
Food was good. However, our waiter took one of my friends drink before he finished it and forgot one of the orders. Lastly, the hostess tended to one of the three folks in our party.
Excellent black cod and salmon main dishes—-pleasant sit-down dining experience in an area full of fast food eateries, which are fine for what they are but this is nice when dinner is the main event.
We hadn't been to Catch in several years and thought we'd try it again. A very pleasant surprise: the same quality menu with lots of choices, but the quality of the items has improved significantly. Friendly, excellent service, a comfortable environment (didn't have to yell to be heard....what a treat!) and a fabulous meal. Could do with a few more wines by the glass, but a minor quibble. A super dinner!
The meals and drinks were prepared as expected. As far as quality, Catch stands in line with other restaurants with similar ratings. Fairly average.
Wonderful service and delicious entrees- black cod in miso , braised short ribs , skirt steak , scallops- everyone was happy. Seafood chowder and squash bisque were tasty but extremely rich with major cream component. Nice fresh lemon sorbet and ultra rich bread pudding for dessert. I was surprised the restaurant wasnt busier on a Thursday night.
Best food, best service. We have to eat here at least once a month. Sanjay and Kathleen make it like a family dinner, only with better food.
We went to Catch for SF Restaurant Week and the fixed menu had plenty of variety. The starters were very well done (I had the burrata salad) and the mains were incredible (I had the skirt steak). The service was efficient and personable, we felt right at home. Would recommend
very expensive for the quality and quantity of the food
The food is always good, and the kitchen has a magical, delicate touch with fish. Salmon and corn risotto; can’t go wrong.
Visit occasionally, this time with friends who are frequent visitors, all had a great time and 'spot on' dinners, had a great time visiting, although almost too loud for 'moderate' conversations, seems we had to often 'speak-up' or 'repeat request' to hear one another. (VERY MINOR but still occurred often...) Would not hesitate to return. EXCELLENT seafood and "delish" non-seafood options.
Unfortunately non attentive service staff, Birthday occasion was ignored, entree’s were not quite up too anticipated statements.
I suggest the staff should not play favorites with their patrons.
Sincerely, Robert L.
Every dish we had was on point. Happy to have delicious seafood at every turn.
Service was great, and we loved sitting in the courtyard by the fireplace.
Cathleen was super. She went out of her way to make it a memorable birthday
A 4 rather than a 5 because we didn't get Kathleen, our usual waiter, because our regular table was already taken. Carol Burnett was appearing at The Castro, so there were a lot of "drop-ins and I was 10 minutes late. Still my favorite restaurant in San Francisco.
Always a great meal.
All around solid neighborhood restaurant.
We were here for a business lunch and had a very good experience. The lunch crowd was light, and the setting was good for having a conversation. The broiled salmon with polenta that we both had was excellent. We were a little surprised that there were not more seafood entree options given the restaurant's name, but were very happy with our entrees. The service was friendly.
Great Birthday tradition.
I just keep going back to Catch. The food is delicious and the service is amazing. I have introduced Catch to many of my friends and they agree that it's a great restaurant.
I have never had a bad meal at Catch and have been going there for over 15 years. I love this restaurant, consistently good and wonderful service.
Always enjoy it.
Wonderful restaurant and food. Just one blip in service, thus the one star.
Fantastic restaurant! Love this place.
The service was excellent and some of the dishes were really good as well. While others were somewhat average. Over all I think it was a positive experience.
Love the food, our server was inexperienced, but we like the place, our SF favorite
Fantastic dinner prior to seeing the final SFGay Men’s chorus holiday show. Took me a ehile to discern where the live piano music was coming from. Food was fantastic. It might become a holiday tradition.
The worst restaurant of the year. Horrid overpriced food.
Since I arranged to use my open table points, I had limited
choices of where to go. I suspect we were given a “special”
menu, since we were using points. For $36. I had pasta with
2 small over grilled shrimp and 2 scallops. My husbands chicken
looked like road kill. Honestly not identifiable. Kind people work in this sad, over heated,
establishment , but not a good place to eat.
I love going to Catch. Great food-great experience
