Catch - San Francisco
To foster this spirit, the chefs rotate their menus regularly, accommodating seasonal produce and fresh catches of local, sustainably sourced seafood. Each dish showcases these ingredients while incorporating Mediterranean influences and minimalist Californian sensibilities toward composition and presentation.
Since opening in October 2002, Catch is the perfect place to gather for every occasion – handcrafted artisanal cocktails and appetizers at the bar, a cozy romantic dinner for two by the fireplace.

Great service. Wonderful seafood, perfectly prepared.
Excellent dinner. Entrees came out hot and tasty! Generous portions and attentive service. Treated to live music by pianist up in the balcony!
Catch is one of my top SF restaurants. The fresh and tasty food, affordable wine, service, atmosphere, live pianist, and display of panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt sustain my enthusiasm and patronage.
The Staff and management are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.
I love eating at Catch. Their food is delicious and the service is great. I feel so welcome there that I even went by myself to eat there this time.
The aesthetics, service, and open air seating were all exceptional. For the price point I expected more from the food.
Great tasting food and nice service. Wine selection is limited so consider bringing your own
My girlfriend and I shared a light dinner consisting of a glass of wine, salad and pork chop, all of which were delicious. We were very happy with the meal and will go back.
Food and service were good, table location was poor - one person at the table was constantly bumped by staff and other customers coming and going. Would have asked for another table, but all were full. They really should use it as a three top not a four top due to the awkward position.
We meet my niece and her husband there for a nice meal while we caught up on family news. It worked out perfectly, great food, perfect service and quiet enough that a table of six could hear each other.
Great staff and good value. Wonderful to sit in the patio area on a beautiful day. Fun spot in the Castro.
We have had dinner at Catch many, many times, but this was not the best. The wine and cocktails were perfect, of course. The fried green tomatoes were not even warm and were obviously prepared in advance. They had very little flavor. The mussels on the other hand were fantastic! The sauce they were served in was absolutely wonderful. We were there for a birthday celebration, but this time we did not get a birthday dessert with a lit candle. That was odd. The pudding dessert was delicious anyway. Hoping for better the next time we visit.
After years of using OpenTable, my first comment... firstly, the food was great, borderline awesome, and the waiter was very friendly and engaging. But our wine glasses were removed as soon as we sat down, and then our wine order was forgotten, and then after our mains arrived (still no wine) we reminded about the wine and it finally arrived - but no wine glasses. Not relaxing at all as we then had about half of a main course to enjoy our wine with. Just odd, that’s all.
Dinner with friends(they were new to Catch/LOVED IT!).... greeted well, waiter exceptional... no rush, no hurry, service 90% spot on. Food excellently prepared and generous portions, wonderful flavors. Always a 'favorite' to invite new guests/friends to experience. Always WAY above 'average'... Keep up the great work... we'll be back.
Outstanding Hamachi crudo on Saturday night....and the crusty warm bread to put it on it was delicious.
Catch still has the best Risotto in town, and the halibut, prawns and scallops were out of this world.
Sanjay, Alberto, Kathleen, and the entire staff always make us feel like family!
WE LOVE CATCH!
Yummy food with semi-outdoor seating by the fireplace! Ciopinno was delicious and this is one of the few places in the city where you can get fried green tomatoes paired with Dungeness crab and avocado crema and you have a winner! Seafood chowder and grilled artichokes are also worth the trip.
The food was mediocre and expensive - two qualities that really don't belong together. The chicken in particular was undercooked and smothered in some kind of tabasco sauce? I couldn't tell. And it cost $25. Will stay away from this place for a while.
In San Fran for three nights. Catch was recommended by our hotel. We went there on our first night. Great food! Great service! Nice decor!
We went back the second night. Tried different dishes than we had the night before and - same result - great food! Great service! And, well, the decor didn’t change overnight. So it was still great.
Sound like the waitreess was in a hurry she was serving me fast
I have been here many times and this place usually does not disappoint. Everything was really good. I was just a little disappointed in the wine choices. I like white wine versus red and there weren't that many white wine choices by the glass. I shouldn't have to buy a whole bottle just to enjoy a glass of the reisling.
Great place for dinner. The piano player was fantastic unfortunately a little too loud. There seemed to be one waiter with personality unfortunately we didn’t have him as our server. Our server seemed to only be interested in taking our order and nothing more. But the food was amazing! I highly recommend the muscles!
We eat at Catch every few months and this time is was my birthday dinner. We love the atmosphere as it is suitable for a romantic dinner or a business luncheon. My hubby started with the Caesar salad and then the Cioppino entree. I had potato mushroom soup to start and for the entree had scallops wrapped in sole on a bed of risotto. Our dinner were created to perfection! Best risotto I had in years! The quality, food portions and service were outstanding. We were quite full by the end of the meal though managed to share a deliciously rich warm chocolate brownie topped with creamy vanilla gelato! Perfect ending! Our wait person, Cathrine, provided incredible service and anticipated our every need. We keep coming back and always appreciate the consistent quality, service and friendly atmosphere.
Had a little trouble with the timing of our reservation. Open table had us booked for 10 pm but Catch usually stops serving at 10 pm. We were still able to dine with out a issue.
Great service. Love sitting at the bar for dinner. Not many around that night.
Food was excellent as was the service. We enjoyed our meal very much!
I believe this is my third review for Catch but it's fine because the experience was fantastic. My best friend and I haven't been out to dinner since I moved here 4 months ago and this was the perfect restaurant to have dinner. We are looking forward to the next one but much sooner then our previous "date"
My wife and I were traveling for our honeymoon. Found Catch via reviews on OpenTable. Took an Uber from Embarcadero to discover this, what we believe, neighborhood gem!
Fantastic coconut milk mussels, two fabulous risottos. One with my sole encrusted scallop and the other with halibut.
Do yourself a favor and stop by for a fabulous dinner.
Once again we had a wonderful dinner at Catch! The crab bisque was very warming, the Caesar salad was cold and crisp, and the mussels were out of sight! Could not get enough of the broth from the mussels, so we took it home! Cathleen is a GREAT server!
very nice neighborhood place in the Castro District.
Full bar, creative seafood cuisine and affable waiter.
Definitely liked the 1000 pt open table too!
excellent black cod and risotto and...................................good service
Good as always
Soups (french onion and clam chowder) were excellent. Entrees (scallops with sole and ciopino) were excellent. Sitting next to the fire in the outside section was great. Service was attentive. We went mid-week and the restaurant was not busy and noise level was low.
We always have a delicious meal. Tonight Cathleen was our super server. We always get great food and super service. I had 2 appetizers, the crab cakes and fried green tomatoes. Yummmmm. The crab cakes had cherry tomatoes in marinade that I had to have more of.
A very good place to have Dinner in Castro. Good food, casual style.
Salmon with white corn risotto outstanding. Have ordered it multiple times and never disappointed.
Service is always top notch, reliable, informative and friendly. The food is great and they will work with you to meet your special dietary needs.
The young, charming host was amazing. He made made us feel welcomed and valued. Thanks!
We were seated on the patio in candlelight. The host adjusted the heat lamps for us. Attentive service! Server provided tastes of a couple of wines when we had trouble making a decision. We started with ultra fresh creamy and delicious oysters. The crab cakes with fresh seasonal tomatoes we’re scrumptious. The cioppino was exceptional and the linguine in cream sauce with grilled scallops and prawns was skillfully prepared. Chocolate soufflé was delightful. Just about a perfect dining experience.
Consistently great food, great service, great ambiance. Love CATCH! so glad it is open every day...and the seating is delightful.
Catch is always a favorite. Nice atmosphere, friendly attentive service, delicious food and cocktails/wines. Been here many times and planning on many more visits.
Waiter couldn't be bothered. Steak was overcooked. Scallops and chicken were awesome. Manager comped our dinner.
