Booked through the app was not clear if seating would be indoors. Called to ensure we wouldn’t freeze outside as we wanted to be indoors FINALLY for a nice dining experience. I was assured on the phone we would be under a tent with heat lamps. We arrive and are seated ( despite my attempts ) outside no tent heat lamp minimal help terrible metal chairs and yet indoor seats were clearly available. Food was average No bread served with mussels and very expensive for the experience. Server was pleasant and attentive. We will not go back.
Our 1st dining experience inside since the pandemic started. We were seated at a lovely table & I was happy to see they had a table for “clean” menus & another for those needed to be sanitized. Great cocktail menu, although for me, it’s all about having a thin glass w/ my cocktail & these were not. Drinks were very good otherwise.
We both had the Caesar salad, which was huge, w/ a lot of freshly shaved Parmesan. I ordered the special -filet with crabmeat & mashed potatoes. Superb. Hubby had pasta w/ bolognese, again, excellent & a huge serving.
Only downfall - neither bartender wore their masks. They were hanging below their chins. Same w/ the hostess, hers was under her nose. Disheartening for our 1st inside Covid experience.
I made reservation few days ago expected to dine inside. We were taken outside and seated 20ft away from the tent that had a cover blocking the gusty wind. There was only 2 other tables occupied in the tent area . We were seated 3rd table from the end opposite side of tent. It was very cold and windy expected since it was a chilly night but was dressed to sit inside and thought that would been the case since we made reservations etc few days in advance and inside only had 1 table occupied and 3 people at the bar. Immediately the fruit flys were all over are drinks and table. They had 2 nice outside tower heaters that were definitely on very low since I have the same one on my deck and know the settings. We got are first drinks pretty quick and placed order few min later. We asked the guy who brings the water if he could turn up the heater instead he tried to drag it closer. We finished are fruit fly drinks in about 25 min . We sat there another 40 min till food came out . We asked for another round 3 times from 3 different employees during that 40 min . We slowly ate are food hoping we can enjoy are drinks with dinner after 15 more min without anything to drink ( the ice meted water was filled with fruit flys) I walked to are car and grabbed a flask of wine so my wife could enjoy it. We finally got are 2nd and last round of drinks over an hour after we finished are first round when we asked 4 Times for refills. It gets worse I had the veal chop bone in parm with side of so called half cooked pasta that had nothing on it. The veal was very fatty and raw in middle the first bits on outer sides was pretty good but couldn’t eat 75 percent of it at a price of $55 it was about 5 inch’s round not counting the bone probably the worst I’ve ever had I was warned to stay away from the meat! Shame on me for not listing. My wife had linguine and clams that had chopped and little necks that was very very good ! For $144 it was horrible and will never recommend
Excellent meal! Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their choices. Service was excellent - outdoor accommodations were very pleasant!
Always good. The south philly pork chop is awesome
The wait for having a reservation was ridicculous but the food as always was delicious
From the time we entered till we said goodbye we were greeted and helped
very nice experience
Food and service was amazing as usual!!! Catch is my favorite restaurant!!
Super cute and trendy little spot in Longport. We never heard of it before and have vacationed to OCNJ multiple times - so we got lucky with it being available on Open Table. Service was very good. Ambiance was pretty good considering Covid standards. Would come back and absolutely recommend.
Our experience was awful!!! We had a reservation at 8pm. We did not get seated until 8:45. The hostess brushed us aside when we asked how long to be seated. She was curt and disrespectful. Down right rude!!! They proceeded to seat a table of 11 before us even though their reservation was later than ours and a table if 4. Did not offer a cocktail while we waited. We asked and they said no. When we finally sat and received our food my friends meal was so incredibly hot . It was clearly microwaved. He tried to get someone’s attention and no one came to see how our meals were. When we finally spoke to the owner after my friend not being able to eat his meal she was not apologetic. We asked for them to remove the overly scorching meal that was inedible . Her response was “ I can’t take a meal off the bill if there was nothing wrong with the food”. In my world if something is inedible and was not eaten it should be removed from the bill. Her response infuriated us.
One more thing . When I went in the restaurant to checkin our reservation the bar was packed with people. No social distancing and no masks were worn . They are certainly taking advantage of the ability to do indoor service. Not following rules!!!
Great food. Good service. Comfortable outdoor dining.
Our favorite restaurant at the Shore! Chastity and team are fantastic and the food is fabulous!
Recognizing they were dealing with Covid, the service was good. We were outside and it also poured rain, which was unexpected. They were trying. Unfortunately, the food was very average. My salmon was overcooked, a bit dry, and for a seafood restaurant named Catch, really not acceptable. Calamari and pea dish- average, needed some salt but none to be found. Our other meal of pasta and shrimp came in a bowl, tails still on the shrimp and nowhere to put them once removed. I liked the slice of cheese that came with the wine. Not sure I would revisit, likely would give it another try as it wasn’t bad - but not great either.
Excellent in every way! The Grilled Romaine Salad was remarkable. Lobster Fra Diabalo was abundant and delicious. Shared the Carrot Cake to top off a fabulous meal.
It’s hard to explain how a high end restaurant could survive treating people the way they treated us. They gave us a nice table at the end of the outside area. Service was slow but under the current situation we understood. But then the sun went down, thousands of flies and gnats attacked. At one point, there were hundreds of gnats covering the table, our napkins, food and when the manager final decided to come over(about 15 minutes later ) the best she could do was nothing. No apologies ,no effort to do anything to accommodate us, moving us was out of the question. Finally, a candle was brought over and the manager said “this happened last night. “ IF it happened last night, why put 6 people there without doing something about it. We couldn’t stay, there was no way to eat food with so may bugs swarming , they offered NO apologies, and proceeded to charge us $100.00 for the six drinks we sucked down on the side of the road , while being treated like pariahs. Not good people, not a good place. ( Only wish I had taken a picture to post of the fly covered napkins)!
Bugs were bad
Amazing food and service. Definitely will be back.
We had a wonderful experience! Outdoor area was lovely and the staff looked great in their bright colored uniforms, very chic! One small criticism... We were seated in the heavy black wrought iron chairs, which would be more comfortable with a cushion! They hurt after an hour of sitting and are not nearly as comfortable as the white chairs in the main dining tent. I’m pretty small and still had to keep shifting around in my seat...
The food was very good, I recommend the lobster, crab and avocado tower appetizer! Drinks were excellent - our group of 4 had several martinis, specialty drinks and wine, and all were balanced and delicious! Also, our server, Ethan, did a fantastic job taking care of us! We will be returning!
We were sat outside on the street given the circumstances. Almost 30 minutes into dinner it started to downpour so everyone was asked to stand inside, which is obviously understandable. While waiting for the storm to pass, no one checked in on us to let us know whether we were taking our meal home or if we were going to be seated again. After about 40 minutes, someone asked us if we’d mind sitting inside. Honestly, we preferred this so this wasn’t an issue. We were brought new drinks and our waitress was very attentive in making sure we were satisfied. The service wasn’t an issue. If the food was good, we’d come back definitely. The food was tasteless, the espresso martini tasted like straight vodka. Wouldn’t go back to spend the money we did on sub par food.
Was charged twice for drinks that were left on a table due to the rain. Management was unprepared for the rain and overbooked the place
Outstanding staff and service. Had a severe thunderstorm disrupt dining...this team responded perfectly and once storm passed, we enjoyed the balance of our meal!
Great food, GREAT staff! We’ll return every summer. Would not change a thing.
With a name like “Catch” thought we were going to have a lot of fish options! I guess I should’ve previewed menu beforehand. Service was great, very professional and accommodating. Drinks were outstanding as well, just didn’t love the food.
The food and service was top notch! The fra Diablo dish’s sauce “gravy” was banging!
Wonderful dinner and the outdoor dining space is very nice! Will definitely go back as soon as we can.
The best at the shore hands down!
Food and service was great. First place I have really felt safe and truly enjoyed outdoor dining downbeach.
Under staffed & disappointed with the steak.
We wanted to love Catch, but there were too many flaws to rate this place even 'average'. There was a stain on the curtain (food) next to us, the service was lukewarm at best, and the food was barely exciting. I had expected so much more for the hype and the prices. My fish was dry and they actually tell you IN BOLD writing that cash tips are preferred. It's just tacky and I felt our date night was highly undermined by this request. I've left a full review on Trip Advisor for meal specifics.
The service was terrible . The manager could care less that we had an awful experience . The swordfish was mushy and the chicken Parmesan was tasteless . I would never recommend this place even if it was free
Very noisy even though not quite full. Weekend after Labor Day and they were so under staffed that they had empty tables and patron standing long times for seating. Wait staff was far less attentive than expected at this (high) price point. It took forever to get the check. The food did come out promptly and was pretty good. At the end of the meal there was a bit of a fiasco as one of the credit cards was not returned to the table with the check to sign. It took them almost 15 minutes to finally located, after I was told that they would simply take my phone number and call me if it showed up! Not very good security not very good attention to detail and, with today’s Friday environment, totally inappropriate. When they did find it it was like, oh we found it no problem. It was a problem and they didn’t handle it correctly.
Great place for fresh sea food if you are in the Ocean City area. We wanted a drink with our meal so we ventured out from OC. Everything was very fresh tasting and well prepared. I would have given 5* but prices seemed a bit high. I would still go back if I was in the area.
Other reviews hold true. Cool ambiance, but inconsistent food and service. Four of the six meals we ordered were delicious and as you would expect, two orders of tuna were served well done when both were ordered rare. We had to beg for service - so short-handed. I think this place is just poorly managed. Not enough waiters, too many bus boys and too many hostesses. We were comped our drinks which is ironic because we would have drank more if we had been properly served. With so many great restaurants at the shore, we won’t be going back.
Flatbread with shrimp and crab and Caesar salad were amazing! This will be a go to for me!!
Drinks were very good
We all had the Corvino fish and all three of us could barely eat it
I kept trying because it was very expensive but really was terrible so we left it barely eaten
Yummy yummy food, attentive, friendly, but not overbearing staff - all right here in Longport...Don't miss the meatball appetizer or the gourmet salad or the pasta....OM Goodness - so delicious!!
Was charged a no-show fee even though we DID show up for our reservation. When I called and emailed they acted like I was making up the story and bothering them. Still have yet to get the no-show fee back. Sorry we ever went and won't return.
The food was very good, the service was really lacking. The bartender was really having a hard time keeping up with drinks. The waiter and waitress were all over the place ! They are clearly under staffed and it’s a shame, because they have great food!
The service was HORRIBLE!. We sat immediately but the waitress did Not come over for 20 min. (Though support staff gave us water). She was abrupt & rude as we ordered drinks. 3 tables that came in well after us received their drinks, appetizer, and ordered before we received our drinks. When she Finally brought the drinks, they were incorrect... Twice! To which she responded rudely “I’m not the Bartender”
When she finally returned she said “are you Ready to Order!” To which we replied “you haven’t told us the specials”. We were completely ignored. You would think it’s because it was super busy, but not the case. I guess we weren’t her regulars. I’m in the restaurant business and respect the service industry, but This was Uncalled for.
We live close by and was hoping to make it a regular spot.☹️
First time at Catch. Food was great, service was great! Soft shell crabs were best I’ve had all year. Flatbread was huge and delicious. I even added some caper berries to my vodka martini. We had a non seafood person and they had a lot of alternative choices. Will definitely be back ! Thanks for a great evening Catch !!
