Great food. Somewhat loud but look forward to returning
The service was awful. Never came back to bring more water. The restaurant was freezing. We complained after waiting for our appetizers for 45 minutes. Their answer was they were under staffed. To us it was unacceptable!
Had 7:30 dinner reservations and did not receive food until after 9 pm. My wife ordered branzino which contained multiple small bones. They offered to cook another piece but we were afraid we wouldn’t eat until 10. My piece of fish was ridiculously small - but maybe it felt that way given how hungry we were. We will not go back.
The food was fantastic and the hostess was wonderful doing her best to keep everyone happy despite an obvious lack of available waitressing staff ...we did have to wait a long time to be served and waited on but the food was well worth it !
I thought the food was excellent. Mt only complaint would be the cost of my wife's drink, $17.00 for a Cosmo is very high.
We had a great meal the was very well prepared and good portions. I would go back here during the off season because I think it would be too noisy if it is crowded.
Food and service are the tops here. Great seafood and always very fresh fish dishes with great sauces if wanted. As a finish, terrific desserts. Good cocktails also.
Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Will definitely be going back!
The service is horrible and food is average. Very over priced for what it is there are definitely better options down the shore. I won’t be back!
We have enjoying Catch for several years and have always given 5 star reviews. Something just seemed “off” this visit. The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived for 6 PM reservation and we were seated immediately. But then waited and waited for someone to come over for a drink order. A waitress finally stopped over but said she was not our waitress but would take the drink order because our waiter was busy. We gave her our order and then about 25 minutes went by and got the drinks from one of the bus boys (who did spill some of a martini on one of our group as he tried to get it down to the table). We had been there an hour had drinks and chips (finally) but had not yet met our waiter. He finally arrived and took our appetizer and entree order and then things seemed to speed up. Entree arrived quickly after appetizers.
The food itself was very good and what we are used to from Catch.
The table situation needs to improve We were crammed in next to another party and you backed into the person behind you if you moved your chair.
Also the new request for tips in cash stamped in red on the checks is very tacky. Our bill for a party of 4 with drinks appetizers and entrees was over $300. Don’t ask for us to tip in cash, just feels very “low rent”
It appears the staff was cut short because the weather was a bit rainy. This resulted in terribly slow service. It appeared that 2 people were the waiters for the entire restaurant. We like the food alot but cant spend three hours with kids to have a late summer dinner.
Not sure if under staffed because summer is coming to an end but they had a lot of food runners / bussers working but must have been short on wait staff.
Waited 30 mins to order( after putting in our drink order.) Drinks were not mixed drinks or complicated and took 30 minutes to arrive.
No one refilled water after food arrived. Waitress had too many tables
Food was pretty good but probably won’t go back.
Oh also, it was absolutely freezing.
This was the WORST experience ever. The food was mediocre, the noise level was atrocious. You couldn't even talk to the person next to you. We waited 30 minutes for a drink. Our server was dumber than dumb and very inattentive. We were finished our meal when she finally came over and apologized because she was so busy and she asked if we received our appetizers!! We were completely finished our meal. We told her we wanted to buy the table next to us a round of drinks and she was clueless as to what that meant!!! She needs to go and they need to hire another bartender. One could not handle the crowd. The service at this restaurant was the worst ever. I wouldn't recommend this to an enemy let alone a friend!
OK, we all have pet peeves. Here’s one of my big ones, restaurant menu’s with no prices. Nothing listed for food, specials, drinks (yes for wine). I have seen this every so often, and never understood. Especially here where the prices were a bit high, but certainly reasonable. Just a bit too pretentious for my taste.
Service was OK until the bar got busy, then the kitchen really slowed down. The decor color was striking. The noise level was very high once the restaurant filled.
Interesting and definitely above the norm for a beach restaurant. But I felt they spent too much effort trying to be “the” place. I’m personally into low key and subtle, but the food was uniformly excellent.
Dining at Catch was atrocious. The noise level was extremely high. You could not hear the person seated next to you or across from you when they spoke. People at other tables were loud and screaming. Service was very very slow and inattentive we did not get our first course of salads until 75 minutes after we were seated and then only after we questioned the waitress. The food was mediocre at best and all in all a bad experience
While waiting for our first course, we noted condisate water dripping from the air vent overhead on to the table and my shirt. We informed the hostess and were told that she had to speak with her manager. After 10 minutes and no action, we addressed the issue again as water continued to drip. The manager was rude and refused to move us, saying that we should leave if uncomfortable. The hostess only relocated us to a different table upon our demand.
The waitress was very good and the bus staff was excellent, in spite of the incompetent manager. The food was mediocre, too salty. Exception was the truffle cheese steak flat bread, which was the culinary highlight of our visit.
The final insult was a request to tip in cash, avoiding the credit card percentage fee to the restaurant. It will be a long time before we return.
Food was very good, but service was lack-luster. Last impression is a red stamp they put on your check requesting cash tips--tacky.
Food was excellent. Soft shell crab appetizer was the best and the filet was the most tender I've ever had. Portions were large which is not always the case for more pricey places. Cute ambiance and our waitress was great. Will definitely go again.
First visit outstanding in all areas will definitely return before end of season
Much better than the first time we went last summer. It was a horrible experience and we walked out. Decided to try it this summer and it was very good. Expensive we thought but good
The service was horrible!!! It took totally too long to get our food. Also, only had one bartender for the entire restaurant. Getting a drink took forever! We usually like the restaurant but everything was off the night we were there. It was like they didn’t have their act together & management didn’t seem to care. It was such a turnoff! We didn’t blame our waitress. We knew she was doing everything she could do. We blame the chef & the management. Bad experience all around!!
MY HUSBANDS FOOD WAS GOOD BUT I HAD A MARGARITA FLATBREAD THAT WAS SO BAD. IT WAS BURNED, THE TOMATOE SAUCE WAS DARK, ALMOST BROWN AND IT LOADED WITH SAUCE. I SENT IT BACK AND ASKED FOR LESS SAUCE AND NOT BURNED AND GOT ANOTHER ONE THAT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME. ALSO, THEY CHARGED 18.50 FOR A MARTINI? AN EXTRA 1.50 FOR BLUE CHEESE OLIVES??? REALLY?
25th year Anniversary dinner w/ our family.
The restaurant was crowded, as it should be on Sat. Night @ 9:15pm. The hostess was great as she directed the staff to quickly clear our table & seat us at what I would consider the premier table for 2 at this restaurant, the back/right corner.. From there, we could hear each other & observe the people and activities throughout the place, which was filled with fashionably, well-dressed married & single couples, 35 to 60.
Our waitress, Elaina, although she got off to a slow start due to the fact that the table of 10 next to us, ordered another drink every 5 minutes, provided extraordinary service & was extremely helpful in our selection of what to eat, which, following a detailed scrutiny of their extraordinary menu, ended up being:
a seasoned shrimp & clam flatbread, a clam & marinated artichoke soupy concoction that provided an amazing dip sauce for the 2 slices of toasted garlic bread that came with it, then we shared a giant pounded Veal Chop Milanase with a side bowl of marinara & rigatoni for dipping. For dessert, a chocolate fudge sorbet and a pound cake topped with fresh berries and creme fresh, ALL FABULOUS in appearance and delectably tasty!
Our food was absolutely delicious!! Thank you for a great meal!!
The food and presentation was phenomenal. There were 6 of us and every entree was delicious and generously proportioned. The veal and beef were so tender and melted in your mouth Incase your not a fish lover ....
It took over an hour for us to get our meal. During that time the waiter could not be found. We had to ask the bus staff to find him. When we asked about our dinner his rude response was “Well it is Friday night “. The manager came over and apologized and paid for a round of drinks. Food was very good.
Memorable meal. Absolutely outstanding!!
Extremely noisy room. Server forgot the homemade potato chips to start. Needed to ask for water refills. Food was good. Has been better in past years. Specials sounded very good, however had the market fish which is always consistent
soft shell appetizer was to die for! fish dinner was delicious. it was VERY noisy when we got there on a sunday night at 8 pm. not sure i'd want to dine with that din often, but we sat at the bar and it seemed quieter over in the corner.
The food, the service and the atmosphere was fabulous. Unfortunately when the check arrived there was a stamp on the bill stating that cash tips are preferred. Think this is a bit tacky for a high end restaurant.
Awesome! Excellent service. Delicious food!!!
Reservation for 9:15, checked in with hostess at 9:07, was not seated until 10pm. Unlikely to go back or recommend.
Enjoyable. Great service and food was excellent. Would recommend this place.
The salads were great however the tuna was not good and it smelled bad. When servers asked how was the food and we told them about the bad tuna, they were not phased at all.
Not a good experience at all at Catch. We waited 40 minutes beyond our reservation to be seated, and likely would have waited longer if we hadn’t continued to ask about our table. Waited forever for bar service as well.
After we finally were seated, waiter service was slow, and entrees weren’t coming out. We asked twice and were told they will be out any second. We eventually canceled one of them, and they “gave” it to us in a to-go bag and told us it was “on them” for the delay. But the waiter really didn’t care about the long waiting, and couldn’t be more of a jerk to us.
Catch seems to care about their local supporters only. Super disappointing and I will never go back there.
Noise level is annoyingly high
We had a reservation but had to wait 15 minutes for the table and when we were seated we were seated at the wrong table and had to move. None of that would have mattered except that we had to wait almost 2 hours for our appetizer and the food wasn't that great.
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. Food and service were excellent.
Although the food was surprisingly good, it was seriously overpriced and they actually upcharged my martini $1.50 for blue cheese stuffed olives when the drink was already really expensive and they make pure profit on the cocktails. Honestly, I found it to be really tasteless, no pun intended, for a restaurant that was in a location such as Longport NJ. They really need to rethink their charges and how it looks to the clientele.
