The restaurant was indeed chic and the staff was warm and friendly. The price however for drinks was steep, the oysters were pricy and the lobster entree was overcooked and less than generous. The music was far too loud, but then we came after the dinner hour so that may have been the reason.
Always a great dining experience...
While my husband and I had a very nice meal and overall dining experience, the one disappointment was that I had made a note not only in the reservation, but the two times I had called for confirmation prior that we were celebrating his 40th birthday. An acknowledgment or at least a verbal birthday wish would have been truly appreciated. I didn't mention it to our hostess when we checked in because each of the two times I had called I was told that they see a note that we are celebrating his birthday and they look forward to seeing us. Things like this are small but really do add a special something to a restaurant visit!
Catch 19 was wonderful! The drinks were perfect and the food was great! The angry lobster is the best. Our waiter was wonderful also. He was friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable.
Friday night they have a live pianist. Classy dinner atmosphere
The restaurant needs to improve their service. The tables upstairs are very close together, making it difficult to move around. The meal started off with an chowder soup , which took a long time to return hot. Also no soup spoons were provided when the soup arrived. Main meals were good, but vegetables were like luke warm. Espresso was served cold and never received creamer for the regular coffee.
Since the kitchen is downstairs, the food is delivered an elevator uncovered.
One other item, a busboy took the chair from the rest room for a table in the restaurant. Not ideal.
Not the best first impression. For the prices charged , expected better service and food quality.
Probably will not return.
Great food and great service.
Another great meal at Catch 19! Excellent service, innovative food, inviting atmosphere.
Tiny portions, way too little for the price. Lemon caper sauce was tasteless. Waiter said it was oil, lemon and capers. He forgot it was mostly a green parsley-like mix, but no matter, it was tasteles. I ordered a glass of wine when the entre arrived. The wine arrived after I was done the meal. Had to ask for refills of water, so inattentive staff.
This was the first visit at the new location. Disappointing, as the old location was a favorite.
Food was expensive for what be received. Service excellent, ambience great and menu looked good, but food just not good. Stale bread on table. Hot plate, but cold sauce. One of the fish dishes was very dry or overcooked, and vegetable was not cooked well- was stringy and cold and hard to chew. Salad was white instead of green. If in Red Bank, pick somewhere else for $100 for dinner for two.
Sat at the chef table , excellent excellent excellent!!!! That’s all I have to say 👍🏼
Food was delish. Went for my birthday celebration. Diners had sea bass, lamb chops all were outstanding.
Great meal and our Waiter, Chris was outstanding! Food was fresh, drinks were outstanding and entire staff was excellent
Great food and service. Will definitely come back.
Been here many times. Food was good as usual but service was lacking. Everything served required a Followup with our server. Not a disaster dinner nor did the fair service ruin the evening. Just expect better.
Great place and awesome food
Our meals were outstanding and service excellent. Great seafood choices that each of us enjoyed. A fine desert choice and good coffee followed. A extra treat was a free ride to the Count Bassey theater.
We visited here during Red Bank Restaurant week. The price fixed meal was delicious and it was hard to choose the entree as they all looked great. I had chilian sea bass with coconut rice. It was perfectly prepared. The chocolate covered ice cream with peanut butter dessert was equally tasty. My husband had the sea scallops with butternut squash which he enjoyed very much. The service was fantastic. We will be back.
Had a great meal, really enjoyed the Angry Shrimp! Cory was very attentive and provided great service!
This was our second trip to Catch 19. The first one was a weekend lunch visit. Food wasn’t too great and service was bad but we chalked it up to just weekend lunch period. We decided to give dinner a try but that was no better. Appetizers took 40 min to come out. Within 5 min of appetizers, came salads. Their flow of serving the courses is poor. Two in our party had steaks that were over cooked and had no taste. Two others had scallops that were also over cooked.
The restaurant is beautiful inside unfortunately their wait staff doesn’t have good customer service skills and the kitchen appears to be overworked and sending out food that is poorly cooked.
Definitely won’t be returning.
Excellent waiter. Great food. Very nice atmosphere.
We are regulars
A Saturday night.
They were off
Ordered a lobster
They destroyed it. Seriously overcooked
Waiter was nice person but largely absent
Off the list for a while.
Everything was great. No complaints 10/10 recommend
Perfect place for a date and very good food
From the food to the service (Chris) to the manager “Big Mike” it was the greatest experience I’ve ever had. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and the ambiance and the setting of the place is beyond words. I had the angry shrimp and lobster with they’re sinister sauce over pasta and my wife had the special gorgenzola crusted filet the flavors were outstanding. In my opinion they have th best steaks you can get outside of the city. If I could give 10 stars I would. 10/10 will go again
Unbelievably good food. Service was PERFECT. Food was OUTSTANDING. Seated exactly on time.
W OW! Everything (whether seafood, veg, or beef) was AMAZINGLY delicious!
The ONLY reason that I cannot give this a 5 star, was that the drinks were HORRIBLE, and the bartender needs to be fired. The CAMPARI/SODA arrive as a pale pink monstrosity. For $12, they should have poured half the bottle of liquor into this drink, not just a drop. The bartender should be ashamed for serving something like this. Likewise my cranberry juice - worse than no frills, and obviously watered down. Beverages here are not of the same caliber as the food.
Highly recommend the Angry Shrimp and Lobster, amazing!
Delicious seafood in a beautiful atmosphere. Been there for both lunch and dinner.
First time here, pre concert dinner. Made the reservation based on open table reviews. The server was prompt & friendly & suggested the raw bar as an appetizer. I asked for 2 oysters, 2 clams, & 2 cooked jumbo shrimp. After a 15 min wait the server arrived with the raw bar platter saying that the raw bar chef had added an additional shrimp & oyster as both oysters & shrimp were smaller than usual. The shrimp were totally bland, but plump. The oysters looked & tasted like they came out of a can and were placed in shells that had been thru the dishwasher. 1oyster was supposed to be from WA state & 1from Chesapeake but they were identical.
For an entree I selected the scallops with Cajun glaze, served with cous cous & corn. The scallops were seared & cooked correctly, and the glaze was flavorful and had a definite Cajun zest. 4 scallops were served on a huge mound of couscous infused with fresh herbs & included a few kernels if corn. It was very good, but way too big of a portion.
Dessert was a a phyllo dough type of a Napoleon layered with whipped cream & fresh berries. Delicious.
We started with the Angry Shrimp and Lobster which had the perfect amount of heat. The leftover sauce was amazing with bread. I had a Halibut fish special which was delicious and my dinner partner had the signature Sweet & Tangy Chilean Sea Bass which was perfect. The restaurant was very accommodating substituting additional veggies for the rice. The peanut butter Tartufo was the perfect ending. Service wa fantastic!
It took an exceptionally long time to receive our appetizers and entrees. It was very obviously an issue with the kitchen as our waiter was attentive. We were seated next to several large parties which may have caused the kitchen to be backed up. However, for the overall price of the meal, this place was not worth it. Would not recommend to friends and would definitely not return ourselves.
My experience at Catch 19 was extremely poor. The restaurant is beautiful. However, we were brought upstairs and the noise level was not conducive to normal conversation. My wife had to ask 3 times for the air conditioning temperature to be lowered as it was very warm. My Halibut was overcooked to the point that I had to use a knife to cut it. My wife's lobster was supposed to have been boiled, not baked and it was so dry that there was not more than 1-2 oz of lobster to eat after ordering a 2 1/2lb lobster. The sorbet was served in a coffee cup and was the consistency of hard ice. There were other issues, but those were the main ones. I do not put any of this information on the internet because it serves no purpose for your ability to correct some blaring issues, as I see it. I would like to give your restaurant another try and hopefully it will be more palatable.
We were rushed by several staff members including the incredibly rude teenage hostess who asked us about paying the bill while WE were the ones waiting for our credit cards to be returned. Never returning and spreading the word. At these prices, we expected and deserved a better experience.
They took us to a high top table at the bar! I think if you book on open table they treat you differently ! We complained and they gave us a table by the entrance.
This place has really gone down hill. Service was poor food wasn’t up to par, just bad. This has always been our go to spot, we won’t be back.
Excellent service and awesome food, especially the seafood. Nicely decorated room. The only annoyance is having the piano player jammin' and singing loudly during the dinner hour while the tables are literally a few feet from the piano. Perhaps just light piano in the background, i.e, jazz, etc would be an easy way to fix this. I would go back again.
Excellent food. A bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant as I heard many great things. My experience here was awful. Waited a long time for drinks, then apps, then the food. Everything came out cold. One of the dishes was seared scallops and we literally got burned scallops. Side dish came out after we already ate the main course. I don’t know if there was an issue in the kitchen but I will never dine here again.
We were seated upstairs which is very nice. I recommend dining upstairs. The Tuna Carpaccio was very good. Both our entrees were good as well. Service was excellent. I think our servers name was AJ. Very good wine list. Overall a very good experience.
It was good but not quite as good as some previous times for their signature dish, Seabass over sticky rice.
It looked like it sat out a bit too long before being served.
It was good but not great.
