Birthday dinner for my wife and both kids with us too. Wife and I had the cioppino and it was outstanding. Service a little slow after main course but not a big deal. Great fresh seafood and well prepared with fine dining ambiance in a casual atmosphere.
The food wasn’t the best but our server was nice
The tuna carpaccio appetizer was absolutely delicious!!!
Great experience from service to the desserts. We will be back
The service way to slow and the music was horrible. First they had a person playing in the front of the restaurant while they piped ) non dinner) dance music is the back. The only thing you heard was a loud annoying combination of both..
Amazing, big mike was awesome and we had such an experience
Waiter started out being very efficient, but then did not come back to check on food & there was a problem with one of the dinners. By the time the dinner was remedied, the rest of us were finished.
All our meals were excellent!!! Service great too.. not sure what all the negative service comments were, but definitely had excellent everything the other night! Going back for sure!!
Unlike the experiences reported by most of the reviews on this site, ours had no problems with service (long wait for food), noise (go on a Wednesday), or food. Prices are at the top end for Red Bank, along with Char. And, also, like that steak house, side dishes are extra and feed only one person. Truffle polenta and corn with couscous were both excellent, but at $6 per portion not a great value. Of course, they could raise the price of swordfish from $24 to $30 and include one side dish. We shared one appetizer which was ample at $18.00 for two people and one dessert that was likewise for $9 and were in and out in less than an hour and a half. With one cocktail each, the total with tip was just under $150.00.
Service poor, they got order mixed up, food served cold, asked for no spice and no salt and was not done, waited 1 1/2 hr for this meal, sides came after the main course was finished. expect more for the price. waiter was trying but upstairs he was covering too many tables. you can do better elsewhere. performance has gone downhill since they moved to larger restaurant location.
Incredible food, one of Red Bank's premium restaurants
The food was just ok, and being a fish place should have been fresher. There is no value here as most dishes come without sides and sides are not cheap. It isn't even clear what is included and what is extra. The experience was overall a disappointment and for that amount of money, not worth going again.
I ate many times at the previous location when restaraunt was known as “Catch”. Food was always good.
Last night, the dining experience was terrible. While we were eating our appetizers, two different busboys tried to serve us appetizers meant for another table.
Before our table was cleared from the first course, 3 of our 4 dishes were served. It took 10 minutes to have the 4th dinner served. The swordfish “steak” was thin, not a steak.
We ordered 2 dishes of seared tuna, both of which were relatively tasteless. The entree of dayboat scallops were inedible- small and rubbery.
Our 2nd order of cocktails never came, we ultimately said to forget the order- then they were brought to our ur table.
In total transparency, we were not charged for cocktails or the rubbery scallops.
I almost never write reviews good or bad, but this review was necessary.
I would not return to Catch 19.
It was a nice atmosphere, but I was disappointed that our food was served lukewarm in temperature.
We had to move from our original table and our waitress completely abandoned us
The food was good and our server Mike was great. The food took along time to come and we saw that others in the restaurant were leaving because their meals were taking too long. They need to get a better system going or they will lose customers. Pretty place but people don't want to wait that long for their food to hit the table. They need a little help organizing their staff with checking in with the kitchen. This was our second time back and it was the same thing the first time. Food took a long time to come. They also need to make sure that the people in the front our taking down names and seeing that people actually showed up on time for their reservations.
It was Mothers Day. They had a special menu for Mother's Day but there were a number of choices. The food was very good and the restaurant is beautiful. They have valet parking too. We all enjoyed our meals and the complimentary champagne.
We have been here a few times ! Just not up to speed any more ! Very disappointed went for Mother’s Day was told in the phone we could order off the main menu only to find out after we arrived that wasn’t the case! Service was really off ! Feel bad but they have got to set it up
Absolutely delicious food! Friendly staff!
Mother’s Day. Mother ordered clam chowder but she didn’t care for the clams in shell in soup so didn’t eat. Waitress did not offer to get her something else. Crab cake appetizer was on the spicy side & lobster rolls were just fair. Disappointing experience
We were deciding between another nearby restaurant and this, and I'm glad we chose Catch19
for our birthday celebration. As it was a Sunday evening, the restaurant wasn't crowded. The service was excellent, and the food outstanding. The watermelon and fried goat cheese salad was a splendid appetizer, with plenty to share. Our seafood entrees were equally delicious.
Enthusiastically recommend, and we hope to be back soon!
Had an 8:30pm reservation. Got there a little early and were told we will be seated at 8:30 and to go get a drink at the bar. We went and at 9:00pm nobody even bothered to come look for us to seat us. We went up front to remind them we haven’t been seated yet and they apologized and 10 minutes later we finally got a table. Our waitress was nowhere to be found for the first 10 minutes. Finally came, we ordered drinks and some apps. Drinks came...they were horrible. The bartender on the second floor clearly was not as good as the bartender downstairs. We sent them back and asked to make new ones. Food came...2 out of the 4 apps we ordered...they were decent. About an hour later...we were still waiting for the other 2 appetizers. Waitress kept apologizing saying they had no manager tonight and two large parties and kitchen was backed up. By the time our other two apps arrived we weren’t even hungry. This was our second time in this restaurant...both times left a lot to be desired and we are definitely not coming back. Huge disappointment.
Unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. We ignored other reviews that had the same issues because it had a great menu...we should have listened. We ordered our dinner at 8:15. The appetizers didn't come out until about 8:45 & our dinner was served at 10:00. We were told by the waitress about 9:15 it would be out shortly & 50 minutes later we had to ask her. She was very non-chalant about it & told us they were very busy with a lot of large parties. When we finally were served our dinner the food was very average definitely nothing special. And two of the steaks that were ordered weren't even cooked correctly but it was definitely too late to send them back. The waitress brought us out two free desserts but there were four of us and didn't even ask us what we wanted. There are too many other restaurants in Red Bank that we would rather try then to come back here again. It was definitely not worth the wait for very average food.
What happened? The gazpacho was like tasteless water. The twice baked potato was a baked potato with a slab of cheese dumped on top. The French cut pork chop was dry and over cooked, while the peaches were swimming in the sauce from the pork chop.
Our waiter was great.
Extremely loud restaurant, overcrowded, awful service.
Awful experience. Took 1 hour to even get a bread basket after asking 4 times. Wine bottle was not chilled and sent back twice. Manager came over to apologize and brought us a new chilled bottle. Food took forever to come out. We were told they were understaffed that evening. $165 per couple bill and such poor service is not acceptable. We were offered free coffee, not even free dessert. Received phone call from the restaurant the following day about our experience. After our conversation, I was asked what they could do to regain our business. My response was for them to comp us for another meal. Since it was our first time dining there, we would give them another opportunity. I was told they would pass on the information and get back to us. That was 6 days ago. I guess they weren't that interested. There were two other couples at different tables that were dining there that we knew and they had the same experience. The only difference is that one of the tables was comped for their appetizers because of the slow service.
An expensive venue with poor attention to service.
Service is very slow, don’t pay attention to detail, and are not attentive. Upstairs bathroom needs to be checked on frequently throughout the night because currently it clearly isn’t (enough said).....husband ordered a glass of wine and the server poured only half of the personal carafe in the glass and took the rest back with him, never returning with the other half of the wine....was told bread wasn’t being served because they are “short staffed”...umm OK? The lobster entree I ordered was bad lobster. I normally love lobster, each bite crumbled in my mouth, indicating the lobster was not fresh but bad. My husband ordered a salmon entree which was completely dried out. We both didn’t eat even half of our meals which we waited well over an hour and a half for. No one ever came over to give us more water ...not once...and the two drinks we ordered (aside from water) was a glass of wine and a club soda. The club soda was completely forgotten about and like I said above, the wine was a 1/4 of the way poured in the glass and the remaining was taken away....normally a personal carafe is left on the patron’s table since they are actually paying for a full glass not a 1/4 of the glass.
Our server ran our credit card and then walked out back for a good 10 mins before returning with our card and copy to sign.
This was our third time eating here, and our final. Each meal has never been good but we wanted to give it another chance. This was the final chance and it was once again a big mistake.
Excellent meal and fantastic service!! We selected menu items recommended by the waiter and they were fabulous. As full and satisfied as we were, our waiter convinced us to have dessert (phyllo pastry with fresh fruit and whipped cream), and it was light and delicious.
Disappointing. Very slow service despite not being terribly busy. The waiter was very nice and apologetic though. Food was variable. Snapper good, scallops overdone and dry. Probably better options in Red Bank
1st time in this new location & everything was great . We are coming back in May
We had a most enjoyable lunch on a beautiful day. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The raw seafood tower was extremely fresh and delicious. "Big Mike" out waiter, was extremely professional and accommodating to our every need. We highly recommend this restaurant, and ask for Big Mike.
Food was excellent. Service could be better. Overall pricey. Not ideal for quiet romantic dinner.
We had an early dinner at catch 19 and it was the best dining experience we have had in red bank in a very long time. There was not one complaint about anything .
We celebrated a birthday party last Saturday our server Mike was very professional and polite. The food was delicious and fresh will def return.
Food was great. It was a bit expensive. Good for a special occasion
For the second time in two months our dining experience was a disaster. Service was horrendous!! Waited an hour and a half between appetizer and entree. Both times we were told the kitchen was “overwhelmed.” When the entrees came out the scallops were burned beyond recognition and the swordfish wasn’t cooked through. And our entrees were served by a manager that we complained to about the slow service!! It seemed to me that the quality of the food wasn’t all that important. It was an embarrassing experience because both times we brought friends who had never been to the restaurant.
Since Catch moved from their old space into the old Gotham and became Catch 19 the service, quality and attention to detail has all but disappeared. Never again!! Total amateur operation!!
Great dinner and exceptional service. Ask your server for recommendations and trust what they say!
There were 4 of us, 2 couples Pre-Concert dinner. Atmosphere was nice, Host and Waitress were kind and friendly, especially Athena!!! Athena had a great personality and was very attentive. Food was outstanding. We only ordered 2 different dishes...the guys both ordered the special Surf and Turf, Filet Mignon and Angry Shrimp and Lobster, while the ladies had the scrumptious, buttery Chilean Sea Bass. I would definitely recommend Catch 19 .
