We visited here during Red Bank Restaurant week. The price fixed meal was delicious and it was hard to choose the entree as they all looked great. I had chilian sea bass with coconut rice. It was perfectly prepared. The chocolate covered ice cream with peanut butter dessert was equally tasty. My husband had the sea scallops with butternut squash which he enjoyed very much. The service was fantastic. We will be back.
Had a great meal, really enjoyed the Angry Shrimp! Cory was very attentive and provided great service!
This was our second trip to Catch 19. The first one was a weekend lunch visit. Food wasn’t too great and service was bad but we chalked it up to just weekend lunch period. We decided to give dinner a try but that was no better. Appetizers took 40 min to come out. Within 5 min of appetizers, came salads. Their flow of serving the courses is poor. Two in our party had steaks that were over cooked and had no taste. Two others had scallops that were also over cooked.
The restaurant is beautiful inside unfortunately their wait staff doesn’t have good customer service skills and the kitchen appears to be overworked and sending out food that is poorly cooked.
Definitely won’t be returning.
Excellent waiter. Great food. Very nice atmosphere.
We are regulars
A Saturday night.
They were off
Ordered a lobster
They destroyed it. Seriously overcooked
Waiter was nice person but largely absent
Off the list for a while.
Perfect place for a date and very good food
From the food to the service (Chris) to the manager “Big Mike” it was the greatest experience I’ve ever had. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and the ambiance and the setting of the place is beyond words. I had the angry shrimp and lobster with they’re sinister sauce over pasta and my wife had the special gorgenzola crusted filet the flavors were outstanding. In my opinion they have th best steaks you can get outside of the city. If I could give 10 stars I would. 10/10 will go again
Highly recommend the Angry Shrimp and Lobster, amazing!
Delicious seafood in a beautiful atmosphere. Been there for both lunch and dinner.
First time here, pre concert dinner. Made the reservation based on open table reviews. The server was prompt & friendly & suggested the raw bar as an appetizer. I asked for 2 oysters, 2 clams, & 2 cooked jumbo shrimp. After a 15 min wait the server arrived with the raw bar platter saying that the raw bar chef had added an additional shrimp & oyster as both oysters & shrimp were smaller than usual. The shrimp were totally bland, but plump. The oysters looked & tasted like they came out of a can and were placed in shells that had been thru the dishwasher. 1oyster was supposed to be from WA state & 1from Chesapeake but they were identical.
For an entree I selected the scallops with Cajun glaze, served with cous cous & corn. The scallops were seared & cooked correctly, and the glaze was flavorful and had a definite Cajun zest. 4 scallops were served on a huge mound of couscous infused with fresh herbs & included a few kernels if corn. It was very good, but way too big of a portion.
Dessert was a a phyllo dough type of a Napoleon layered with whipped cream & fresh berries. Delicious.
We started with the Angry Shrimp and Lobster which had the perfect amount of heat. The leftover sauce was amazing with bread. I had a Halibut fish special which was delicious and my dinner partner had the signature Sweet & Tangy Chilean Sea Bass which was perfect. The restaurant was very accommodating substituting additional veggies for the rice. The peanut butter Tartufo was the perfect ending. Service wa fantastic!
It took an exceptionally long time to receive our appetizers and entrees. It was very obviously an issue with the kitchen as our waiter was attentive. We were seated next to several large parties which may have caused the kitchen to be backed up. However, for the overall price of the meal, this place was not worth it. Would not recommend to friends and would definitely not return ourselves.
My experience at Catch 19 was extremely poor. The restaurant is beautiful. However, we were brought upstairs and the noise level was not conducive to normal conversation. My wife had to ask 3 times for the air conditioning temperature to be lowered as it was very warm. My Halibut was overcooked to the point that I had to use a knife to cut it. My wife's lobster was supposed to have been boiled, not baked and it was so dry that there was not more than 1-2 oz of lobster to eat after ordering a 2 1/2lb lobster. The sorbet was served in a coffee cup and was the consistency of hard ice. There were other issues, but those were the main ones. I do not put any of this information on the internet because it serves no purpose for your ability to correct some blaring issues, as I see it. I would like to give your restaurant another try and hopefully it will be more palatable.
We were rushed by several staff members including the incredibly rude teenage hostess who asked us about paying the bill while WE were the ones waiting for our credit cards to be returned. Never returning and spreading the word. At these prices, we expected and deserved a better experience.
They took us to a high top table at the bar! I think if you book on open table they treat you differently ! We complained and they gave us a table by the entrance.
This place has really gone down hill. Service was poor food wasn’t up to par, just bad. This has always been our go to spot, we won’t be back.
Excellent service and awesome food, especially the seafood. Nicely decorated room. The only annoyance is having the piano player jammin' and singing loudly during the dinner hour while the tables are literally a few feet from the piano. Perhaps just light piano in the background, i.e, jazz, etc would be an easy way to fix this. I would go back again.
Excellent food. A bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant as I heard many great things. My experience here was awful. Waited a long time for drinks, then apps, then the food. Everything came out cold. One of the dishes was seared scallops and we literally got burned scallops. Side dish came out after we already ate the main course. I don’t know if there was an issue in the kitchen but I will never dine here again.
We were seated upstairs which is very nice. I recommend dining upstairs. The Tuna Carpaccio was very good. Both our entrees were good as well. Service was excellent. I think our servers name was AJ. Very good wine list. Overall a very good experience.
It was good but not quite as good as some previous times for their signature dish, Seabass over sticky rice.
It looked like it sat out a bit too long before being served.
It was good but not great.
Great place, great food and great service..... added bonus was the live entertainment.. can’t wait to go back
Have been here several times and the food is consistent and tasty. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Chris was our waiter and he was pleasant, attentive and knew they specials and menu well. Get the Angry Shrimp and ask for a spoon!
Angry Shrimp and Lobster is a must have! The warm bread kept coming so we were able to SOP up every drop of the Angry sauce.
I have not ever tasted Creamed Spinach the way Catch 19 prepares it. The Spinach was not mushy or heavily weighed down with cream or cheese. The hint of garlic was perfectly added; simply marvelous. My blackened Salmon was cooked to perfection, so juicy and tender!
Has anyone ever has " flourless chocolate cake?" Allow Catch 19 to be your 1st experience. The portion is more like a cupcake, but it's yummy and I was filled from my meal and appetizer so I did not need to have a second one. Lol
Cory served us! He was great I slapped his face and told Him to slap the chef! No just kidding, I did not slap him! Lol. He took great care of us, knew the menu well, answered all of our questions, our glasses never got empty, and we tipped him well in return!
We will be back!
Excellent everything!!! From cocktails to food Dominick is amazing will be back soon !!!
The seafood is amazing and the service is top notch!
Excellent food , excellent atmosphere, excellent service , 10/10 !!!!!
We are not able to get to this restaurant due to location. However, when we are visiting Sandy Hook we always make a reservation. We are NEVER disappointed. Great service. Food is amazing. Very creative menu with wonderful presentation. Loved our server, Athena. She was our server last year too! She is wonderful!
Food was good. A little pricey. I ordered a special surf and turf. The lobster was non existent. Sent it back. Waiter took my dish with half my filet on it. Never to be seen again. The entree was $85; they took off $45 for half eaten filet.
Not good customer service. When inquired where my steak was they asked if I wanted it!
good food but not worth price. Small portions - left hungry
This was our first time. We had an excellent dinner. We will be back. We both had the scallop special which was outstanding. Fresh oysters for appetizers also perfect. We had no room for dessert.
Everything was delicious
Food was fantastic!!! You have to try the angry lobster appetizer. Need to go back soon!!!
I don't' mind paying for quality food and service. I'm happy to do it but this place has a lot of nerve charging the prices they do for bad service and bland or just OK food. I would never recommend it or go back.
Great food, a little loud
Food was so-so. And seating/ambiance was lacking a little. I just don’t think we got what we expected for the price we paid. Highly priced for above average service and mediocre food. Neither one of us was overly enthralled by our experience there.
The prices were far too expensive for the poor quality of food. The service, however, was excellent.
Great restaurant with nice decor and delicious food. Everything we ordered was delicious. We loved the mango salmon tartare, angry shrimp and lobster, and chilean sea bass. Seared tuna could use more seasoning, it was bland. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
Place was packed so it was extremely loud. Towards the end of our meal, the AC got shot down by a staff member and it got uncomfortably warm.
Overall, we had a great time! Will definitely come back in the future.
My Bride enjoyed her app and entrée, my app was good but my entrée, while cooked fine, was the blandest blackened swordfish I've ever had. Prices were NY-level, which is rather ridiculous for Red Bank and the food just wasn't worth it.
The restaurant is very pretty and food is good. Had to scream across table to hear each other. Waiter seemed to be rushing us when we first got there. Once food was served, he never appeared, didn’t ask if we wanted dessert/coffee. Waited forever for check when eventually manager brought it over. They were understaffed and have stuffed way too many tables in. When waiter was taking order from table next to us, leaning forward screaming specials to that table, well let’s just say wasn’t a great view!! And why, when you have a noisy restaurant with many specials, don’t you give a separate “specials this evening” menu so waiters aren’t screaming?? Also appreciate restaurants that tell the price of each special which was not done in this case. Friends also dined there the same evening and said they received the wrong check for their table.
