Catch New York Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was fantastic. The complimentary glass of champaign and small treat from the chef were a very nice surprise. The wine list was very extensive and wonderful. Everything we ordered was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This restaurant has a beautiful main floor and another floor upstairs with an outside terrace. The upstairs must be awesome in good weather. It was a birthday dinner for us and they gave us the worst table in the restaurant. Had to speak to manager to get moved to another table. Food was really good. Service was spotty. They did not seem to have the basics down.
Got there 10 mins before my reservation, First hostess wanted to sit me in a very crowded area for a business meeting. We asked for a table with a view and was told the wait would be 20 mins even though there clearly was empty booths. So I asked for a manager. The manager found a table near a side window.
I sat down, my server took my order for water and iced coffee, some guy brought it and was leaning on our table with his elbows as if we were friends or knew him when I told him the iced coffee didn't look right, it looked real cloudy and tasted like chocolate milk not coffee. Made me feel very uncomfortable and it was quite rude for a server to lean on a customer's table.
My server never came back to take my food order although she serviced every table around me so I left as I was on crunch time before having to head to airport. When I went to pay for my bill at the bar because I couldn't find my server at that time, the bartender told me rudely and loud that only my server could ring me out. So I walked out the door after the 2nd hostess who was very nice tried to find the server and then she goes, "the iced coffee is on me, don't worry about it.". You damn right it's on you for your terrible customer service. I frequent Catch LA alot and never have I received such horrible , disrespectful service as I have at the Catch NYC. Maybe one day the service will improve, idk but for now I am not interested in returning.
Waiting 30mins when you have a reservation is annoying- the women at the front desk wouldn’t give any estimate of how long our table would be and we’re not very friendly or helpful. They just give you a buzzer and tell you to wait. Once we sat down the food was great but the service is just not as good as the one in LA
I cannot recommend this place. We were seated very late and the service was nothing to cheer about. Again, being reached over to serve someone else is something I find probelmatic espeically when the waiter could just walk around me. And, the meal I had was blan.....no taste. I asked for some Saracha to add flavor and it did not help much. Most the biggest problem was the noise. Iti is loud...very loud....too loud. It was an interesting eperience but one I would not repeat.
Catch is a great restaurant and my go-to. I really love the food and the ambiance. Only thing I hate is how the hostesses are rude and inefficient. They are not helpful or attentive at all, they need to learn some manners and customer service skills!! Definitely come here for the food and the vibe.
I saw a review online about this restaurant and put it on my list of places to visit. After running the New York marathon, I wanted to celebrate at Catch NYC. I used OpenTable to make the reservation. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
We reserved the earliest dinner time on a Saturday for 5:30pm bc we would have a one month old toddler in tow. The staff was great enough to honor my rez request to stick us in a corner seat for two...this All only worked bc if the time bc by the time we left at 7:15, the place was extra loud and bustling. Service was good...the staff kind of insist upon themselves as being awesome, but we mostly ignored that. Manager was genuinely nice tho and stopped by to check on us. Food was truly terrific...nothing we had was bad. Mac and cheese: phenomenal. Sushi: delicious. But the true shocker that blew us away was the cashew sweet potato side dish: delicious. Value was decent...we knew our bill for two including adult drinks would be around $180 sheckles. Go for the food!...go early if you can to avoid the pretentious stuff...and enjoy yourself.
Very noisy, crowded, but excellent food. Waiter was exceptional. Trying to check in at the hostess stand was the worst part of the experience. It was difficult to get acknowledged, once I did manage to check in and came forward with the ' your table is ready ' buzzer, I was again ignored for several minutes before a hostess led us to our table. I witnessed two other parties being treated dismissively. I would have walked out if I were them.
We, my husband and I were 15 min too early and we had been asked to waite at the bar. Our Toughter arrived ohne minute after reservation time. Than it took another 45minutes to get the tabel in a very noicy room with uncomfortabel chaires, upstairs. We had booked in advance and to waite for one hour and at least we got an uncomfortable table in a very, really very noisy room so we could not have any conversation.
The food and service by the table was good.
Service at the concierge was really bad.
