Catch New York Ratings and Reviews
I was celebrating my bday my friends and i and this was my first time going to this restaurant and honestly I hated the food its very costly so I would expect it to taste was way better. I was very disappointed my friends and I ended up spending almost $300 on food we didn't eat we all asked foe doggy bags n threw it away the food after and we left hungry after spending so much on food. I would not recommend.
I was there last night but received a note from OpenTable that I missed my reservation. Not sure why you have an impression I was not there.
Apparently OpenTable reservation for Catch is more a suggestion rather than a call for action.
I was there on time and had to wait almost an hour to get seated.
Deeply dissapinted with this service.
Dreadful service by the front of house staff. We were a table of 5 and treated like we had not made a booking. The table was booked for 8:30 and we arrived 15 mins early only to be seated 45 mins late at 9:15. We were repeat customers and regret that we will not come back and make sure that friends don’t either.
I have been to Catch many times and the food is always incredible! One of my favorites restaurants in NYC.
The only thing that has been very annoying is you put the last bite of food on your fork and your plate is already being taken away. Give me a second. Let me put the food in my mouth and chew my last bite please! It didn't just happen once. My girlfriends and I shared at least 5 or 6 apps and it happened every single time. We had to ask twice for sauces and wasabi to be brought back to the table.
We go out and spend money to enjoy our time together. Let us relax.
We went to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated almost imnediately. Our server was very attentive and the food was great.
We sat upstairs and had a really nice round table for 8 in the corner with a view.
Couldn't be happier with the service & food.
They made us wait 45 minutes after we had booked an 8:15 reservation. Place was mobbed at the bar with congestion all the way back to elevators. My petite date was jostles or pushed Least 7x in 45 minutes while waiting for table. Finally seated at 9 pm after begging hostesses 3 time. The occasional was a friend's birthday, and the highly amplified musician in the dining areas made conversation almost impossible. Main courses were good but side dishes were highly sweetened and almost inedible. Sever was superb and attentive. We left a good tip for him but can't think of a reason to go back. Drunken couple was arguing in the staircase as we were leaving...
The restaurant did not hold our reservation, we had a late hour reservation and wanted to be seated downstairs, however, never did they tell us that there wasn’t a table available at the moment we arrived (though we had made a reservation) and we waited over 1.5 hours and left the place without even having dinner. Hostess was rude and inarticulate to explain the situation to us upon arrival and after having waited for an hour: ruined our night out!
My husband and I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The service was fantastic. The complimentary glass of champaign and small treat from the chef were a very nice surprise. The wine list was very extensive and wonderful. Everything we ordered was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This restaurant has a beautiful main floor and another floor upstairs with an outside terrace. The upstairs must be awesome in good weather. It was a birthday dinner for us and they gave us the worst table in the restaurant. Had to speak to manager to get moved to another table. Food was really good. Service was spotty. They did not seem to have the basics down.
Got there 10 mins before my reservation, First hostess wanted to sit me in a very crowded area for a business meeting. We asked for a table with a view and was told the wait would be 20 mins even though there clearly was empty booths. So I asked for a manager. The manager found a table near a side window.
I sat down, my server took my order for water and iced coffee, some guy brought it and was leaning on our table with his elbows as if we were friends or knew him when I told him the iced coffee didn't look right, it looked real cloudy and tasted like chocolate milk not coffee. Made me feel very uncomfortable and it was quite rude for a server to lean on a customer's table.
My server never came back to take my food order although she serviced every table around me so I left as I was on crunch time before having to head to airport. When I went to pay for my bill at the bar because I couldn't find my server at that time, the bartender told me rudely and loud that only my server could ring me out. So I walked out the door after the 2nd hostess who was very nice tried to find the server and then she goes, "the iced coffee is on me, don't worry about it.". You damn right it's on you for your terrible customer service. I frequent Catch LA alot and never have I received such horrible , disrespectful service as I have at the Catch NYC. Maybe one day the service will improve, idk but for now I am not interested in returning.
Waiting 30mins when you have a reservation is annoying- the women at the front desk wouldn’t give any estimate of how long our table would be and we’re not very friendly or helpful. They just give you a buzzer and tell you to wait. Once we sat down the food was great but the service is just not as good as the one in LA
I cannot recommend this place. We were seated very late and the service was nothing to cheer about. Again, being reached over to serve someone else is something I find probelmatic espeically when the waiter could just walk around me. And, the meal I had was blan.....no taste. I asked for some Saracha to add flavor and it did not help much. Most the biggest problem was the noise. Iti is loud...very loud....too loud. It was an interesting eperience but one I would not repeat.
Catch is a great restaurant and my go-to. I really love the food and the ambiance. Only thing I hate is how the hostesses are rude and inefficient. They are not helpful or attentive at all, they need to learn some manners and customer service skills!! Definitely come here for the food and the vibe.
