Catch New York Ratings and Reviews
One of our worst dining experiences to-date. I’ve been to Catch previously with no issues. Last night, we waited 40 min after our reservation time. The bouncer was all over the place being aggressive . Our service was horrible - he took our drink and dinner order and then we didn’t see him again until we were ready for our check. Didn’t ask if we wanted a second cocktail. And the food was average - not bad, certainly not great.
As always my dining experience at Catch was what I expected. We had 8:15 reservations, waited by the bar for about 10 minutes before we were seated. I initially did not like the seating assigned to us because it was right by the kitchen in a high traffic area. I asked the hostess to move us, and she immediately re-seated us at a cozier table. We ordered the Cantonese Lobster and Lobster Mashed Potatoes for our entree, and I believe that was the best choice on the menu, after having eaten there quite a few times.
This is was second time at Catch NYC. I went a few weeks ago then just on Valentine’s Day. My first expierence was so amazing and I couldn’t stop talking about it. I don’t know what changed but my visit to catch on Valentine’s Day wasn’t the greatest. Service was horrible. Food to forever to come out. Most importantly I had spoken to two people who worked there to add a special request to my order and place the words I LOVE YOU on the hit me dessert dish. Both people said it would be done no problem. I even saw the note in my account. When the dessert came to the table there was nothing written. It wouldn’t have mattered any other night but being Valentine’s Day I wanted it to be something special for my boyfriend to remember and it didn’t happen. I am very disappointed and will not be returning.
Catch is my favorite restaurant in the world. It never disappoints! I have never had a bad dish. The appetizers are always on point and tasty. Dinner entrees are exceptional –and save room for a dessert or two. The signature drinks are made to perfection. Your waiter experience may vary, but I've never had bad service at Catch.
We had reservations for 8:15 and dated get seated until 9. The seating area was jammed packed. Waiters would keep bumping us and apologizing. People trying to walk towards the restroom kept bumping us.
The drinks took over to come out. The food was ok but took a while for it to come out as well.
We ordered dessert and took about 10-15 minutes for it to come out.
I was looking forward to eat dinner at Catch. But after my experience I won't be coming back. Why pay certain price for a dish when the food is "ok" and everyone keeps bumping you and your friends as you're trying to enjoy a meal.
Wine portion small while price is high. So noisy you had to yell across the table to be heard. Mahi Mahi good (not great since it was dry) but portion small. Pretty restaurant but difficult to find the entrance as the address is on 9th Avenue but the entrance is on 13th Street which we were able to find with the help of a homeless bigger hold the door and soliciting tips.
We went here for restaurant week. We had a reservation so there was little to no wait. We had to ask for restaurant week menu, which I thought was odd. Food was really good. I had the mrc roll which was amazing and the mushroom pasta. Pasta was sooo good, a bit heavy and greasy, but I would have again. The cookies and sorbet for dessert was outstanding. Drinks were really good, though they should be for the price. Only thing is the busboy took my $18 drink before I finished it. Our waiter was wonderful. Sweet and helpful. Though, the big negative is the ambiance. Don't come here if you want to have a conversation with your dinner party. Very loud and your basically sitting on top of the people at the other tables. Way too close for comfort. I may try this place again, but not on a weekend.
