Ace was amazing! Great time as always!
nouveau riche, touristy, not a place for people who are serious about food/ service
We had reservation for 9:30 and we only sat down at 10:15 because we called the manager to complain! Extremely disrespectful
Great food. The place is awesome and the attention is excelent. The only problem is that we were a party of 4 and the plates arrived at different times
Amazing vibe! We came from out of town and it was the most perfect place to have our first meal.
Catch is one of those overrated New York restaurants that became popular for its name and feelings of wealth. The sushi is mediocre at best and not at all worth the prices.
Food is outstanding, but they kept us waiting for 40 minutes after our reservation time to be seated.
We had a nice dinner. It was very crowded, but you can almost always expect that at a place as popular as catch, especially during restaurant week. We had made a reservation for 8:00pm and got there on time, but then had to wait in the crowded bar to be seated until 8:30-8:40, which is not great service for the price we are paying. The drinks are very expensive so it seemed this was almost a way to get people to spend more, because we had to get a drink at the bar since we were waiting for so long. Overall, I’m not surprised by this level of service and having this experience at catch since it was very busy, and my date and I did enjoy ourselves even with the super long wait. Our waiter was great. My date got the tuna entree and it was such a small amount of food (Size of an appetizer) I had to share my mushroom pasta with him, which definitely made the price not worth it, especially since they don’t include any drinks in the $45 menu either. Glad they have options to make things vegan and also have great seafood options. I will go back again but definitely not for their restaurant week menu. Also, as far as the food goes, their mushroom pasta and eggplant skewers are great. My date loved his salmon belly and the seared tuna. Just wished the portions had been bigger so that his dinner was actually filling.
Service was probably one of the worst dining experiences. Almost had zero interaction with our server, we had to ask for utensils twice, after patient waiting 10 mins each time, and even the busier had cleared our table before we sat there for 20 minutes before we got checked on again so we could order another bottle and dessert. Likely will not be coming back.
This is a combination of two visits - one where we ate and one where they didn’t even call us for our reservation after already waiting over an hour for it.
Catch is one of my favorite restaurants in the Meatpacking Dist. It has a beautiful-people vibe and the food and drinks are some of my fave overall in NYC.
This most recent time though, the reservations system was seriously lacking and we were never notified that our table was ready. Made reservs for 8:15, table not ready yet, they’d text us when it was. She confirmed my number - it was correct.
8:45, still waiting. Ok... so I asked how many people were before us. There were still 5 or 6 two-tops ahead of us! (Plus several larger groups but I know they use larger tables so not really the same). Still... that’s a lot of people waiting in a small area.
I go back on opentable to see if there’s anything nearby with availability or to grab a drink while we wait, and i see that Catch is still accepting reservations for 8:45, 9;00 and 9:15 (at least).
We decide to walk around again around 8:50 because they would text us when our table was ready. Easy, right? Well...
9:15 comes and goes... no text. 9:30... 9:45... I NEVER got a text for our table. We ended up eating elsewhere.
I love Catch normally but beware of this issue and come with a LOT of flexibility in your reservation time.
Also it gets PACKED and the crowd right off the elevator where the hostess stand is is subject to massive anxiety.
Be prepared for very bad seating service, and a long wait for a host or hostess to come take your order. I booked a 7:30 reservation - the table wasn't ready when I arrived, and at 7:45 I asked the front desk hostess again how long the table would take to be ready. The hostess replied that I actually had a 7:45 reservation (not true as I could clearly see in the app that the rez had been confirmed for 7:30) and that it would be a few more minutes. After overhearing several parties there had been waiting for over an hour for a table, I ended up asking for a bar tabletop seat for myself and my date.
It took another 20 minutes for a waiter to finally take our orders - after this the food was fantastic and came out in a reasonable amount of time, which is the only reason I would recommend the place with the note to expect horrendous service for seating and ordering. I'd also like to highlight that the separate staff in charge of taking away empty plates and re-filling waters was phenomenal. I was unable to get the name of the hostess who served myself and my date, but she was superb at taking away empty dishes immediately and never letting the water level in my cup go below half-glass.
Overall I'd say definitely come for the food, but be prepared for horrendous service - it's a headache to get seated, but once the food's coming out you might just forget about everything else.
We made a reservation days in advance for 7:30pm. By 8:30 we had still not been seated, so we left.
Great food and wait staff. Annoyed that my reservation was bump during to being late, but was never told that could happen when I checked in
Everything was exceptional, food, service and drinks. Maybe a bit too expensive for the amount of food we had. We definitely recommend to go for a very special occasion.
Exceptional food and service.
Incredible food, atmosphere & service
Went to try this restaurant for Restaurant Week. Portions were tiny and the menu featured non of the items the restaurant is known for. Overall atmosphere was nice but terrible value for restaurant week!
We had the crispy shrimp, catch roll scallop gnocchi and beet salad. All were delicious. Our waiter Alex was very attentive
Our service was terrible. We considered leaving because our server was very rude. We ended up having sushi and it was good. There was a girl and a guy serving us and the tables around us and I felt like it wasn’t his fault that the girl was rude, so I still tipped 20%. But we won’t go back or ever recommend this place.
This restaurant is a bit hard to find; it has a 9th avenue address but the entracne is not actually on 9th avenue but rather just off it on 13th street heading toward 10th avenue.
Our group was surprised and impressed by the food, particularly the catch roll (which is flamed at the table). Other noteworthy dishes are the crispy shrimp, the king crab tempura, the hellfire roll and the a5 japanese waygu which you cook on a stone at your table.
The service is fine; the atmosphere is a bit pedestrian. I imagine at peak times it can be pretty loud.
We'd definitely go back.
Food was amazing.. service was a bit slow.. we got our food before drinks. Seating is a bit tight. But had a great time.
There are no words for the bad experience we had. Terrible service, terrible management, all around an experience that shocked us and left us never wanting to come back. Half the table had a full brunch before the other half even recurved an appetizer. To top it off the 8 month pregnant gal, aka me, was left waiting for a chicken sandwich for well over an hour and ate it while the other 11 people watched me. Fun...
Long wait after having a reservation! Food was good but the staff was rude.
The only flaw was that it took almost one hour to have our table ready past the reservation time, everything else just amazing
We were sat late even though we arrived on time. Reservation was for main dining area and were sat by the bar.
Waiter was trying to push me to order more food than I wanted, waiter was not polite, and deliberately not servicing the table properly.there was water dripping from the ceiling.
Everything was great except there is always a 30min wait to get to your table despite having reservations. Always happens with dinner. Never with lunch.
New York getaway
Food was excellent
Very loud - needed to shout to meal companion for him to hear me.
The food was good but the service was very bad
We asked for the same salad almost ten times and got it just after the dessert!!!
Also asked for the menu many times in order to invite the food
And something was always missing
Highly recommend for not only seafood lovers but also vegetarians and vegans! As a vegetarian I had plenty of delicious options to choose from and I will most definitely be back for more.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
reservation was at 11 still had to wait 10 mins infront with my whole family of 10 . The food was alright I like the steak everything else was decent . Server was not really attentive or caring .
It was my birthday. My coworkers set up Catch to do something for me with a cake and all and had a confirmation that they would do it. It never happened.
Booked for 8pm, eventually seated at 9pm. Nice place, great area but way overpriced. Food was good but my husband’s mushroom spaghetti was heavily lacking in mushrooms. Won’t be going again on our next visit to NYC.
I don’t remember who our server was (very nice woman). She was very attentive, kind, and informative. We began with drinks at the bar until our table was ready, then we made our way to our table, and then began with tons of appetizers. The Bloody Mary oyster shooters are phenomenal, the wagyu gyoza was to die for, the salmon belly carpaccio was more amazing, and the yellowtail avocado roll was nice. We had the cauliflower scallops, filet, and lobster Mac n cheese for entree. Each entree was Devine. The dessert was even better. We ended the evening with the pistachio cheesecake and sorbet. Very tasty and worth every penny.
Drinks: the Cali, gettin piggy with it, the PN and sancere was delicious.
Overall check was $384 split in 2 with %20 tip $217 each.
Great experience and great food.
The server wasn't attentive. The bus boys were more there and kinder than our server was. Overall, everything else was great!
Front receptionist was very rude and aggressive and she made us wait although I left a note for asking for that not to happen .
Waiter was amazing
Ambience was great
Good casual place
I eat out a lot especially seafood (Northern Europe... we will buy them alive and cook them)
This was the best seafood platter in my life
And first comment I have ever made about a restaurant
