Catch - Modern Seafood Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
Myself and 2 of my friends saw an advertisement for half price appetizers and free wine testing! The word "free" caught our eye. Needless to say we were very glad that we attended.
The staff was very professional and attentive. The food was awesome! I mean delicioso!!! I am the finicky one out of the group and I was more than pleased with every thing. I am looking forward to the food truck when it turns warm.
Many times we have eaten at Catch Modern Seafood Cuisine and are always happy we chose this wonderful Keith Rhodes restaurant here in Wilmington, NC. On this visit I started with a NC Beer and a half dozen raw oysters from Surf City that were plump, juicy and very good with the house prepared side dressings. For dinner I enjoyed the house special Angry lobster baked and presented on top of Italian rice. My wife enjoyed a glass of Shelton Bin 17 chard. from Dobson, NC. and the regular grilled Salmon that she loved. We will return to Catch very soon.
Catch is definitely a $$$ not a $$ restaurant. The Thai mussels appetizer was excellent. The crab cakes and grouper were great. The sweet potato salad- not so much and the key lime pie was sorry to say disappointing. The wine was fine- a Russian River Chardonnay at $40, good value. Service was attentive and charming. Overall Very Good.
Well this was another great experience going to Catch-Modern Seafood Cuisine in Wilmington, NC. I enjoyed a nice glass of local beer and my wife had a glass of white wine as we ordered our meal. I enjoyed a half dozen raw oysters from Cedar Island, NC that were large, juice and delicious with the Chef made house sauce in top. My wife ordered a combo dish of BBQ pork baby back ribs (six) and sea Scopes over a nice vegetable mixture. I enjoyed the house special for the evening a nice plate of Lobster, Lobster, Lobster on mashed potatoes with a sauteed side of vegetables. Another wonderful meal at Catch.
Went for my birthday. Heard lots of great things about this place and my relatives had been there before and had a great time. However this time the entrees were not worth the time spent. Grouper (my favorite fish) was super bland and steak was horrible! Oysters and appetizers were good. Cute place, but it was a bad night. Not worth the cost.
Our mom lives in Wilmington, and year after year, when we visit her, this is our favorite restaurant. Our server said he was brand new, but he didn't make a mistake. He even ran out in the rain to give me my credit card that I had forgotten (it was the wine's fault)! We've tried them all, and this is hands down the best restaurant in Wilmington. See you guys next year!
Food was great! Lobster & swordfish were well cooked & moist. There different flavoring for both options were delicious. I wasn't going to try the spinach came with my lobster, (because I don't like it!) but theirs' was delicious. NEED SIGNAGE! Definitely worth more visits.
The food was a bit pricey but good. The service was probably the worst we have ever had in a restaurant. We were seated at a very small table. The waitress came right over and asked if we were ready to order. We asked for some time to read the menu. She came back within minutes and we ordered two glasses of wine, appetizer, Caesar salads and two entrees. Another woman came to our table and started to uncork a bottle of wine. Apparently she had been told that we ordered a bottle. After we got that straightened out, a basket of grilled bread was served. Two pieces were great, one was burnt black. When our appetizer was served, we were not given any plates. My husband asked for more bread and we were told it would be right out. Four requests later, we were still waiting for our bread. When it finally arrived, it had not been grilled. Our entrees were brought to the table before our salads. We asked about the salads and they apologized and said they would be right out. We had to ask four more times and they were finally brought out near the end of our meal. We were asked if we would like black pepper on the salad, we said yes, and never saw the pepper. At this point, they offered us two free glasses of wine to make up for all the errors, which we accepted. We were then asked if we would like to order dessert from the menu. When we made the reservation we said it was for a birthday, when the hostess seated us she asked if it was for a special occasion and we said it was a birthday, yet we had to tell them a third time for our complimentary dessert.
There were 4 ladies waiting on us, yet each one dropped the ball so many times it wasn’t funny. We will not be back. For those prices, there are too many good restaurants in the area that provide good food and good service.
I have be eating at Catch-Modern Seafood Cuisine for several years now and have Never been disappointed in the experience. I had a Mother Earth Beer with my half dozen oysters on the half shell, Fro Cedar Island, they were large, plump, salty and delicious. My wife enjoyed the fried calamari and Shelton Bin 17 Chardonnay the was to her liking. We were give some crayfish fritters the were wonderful. For diner I enjoyed scallops and mussels on wilted kale that was cooked to perfection. The wife had Salmon entree with potatoes and vegetables that was perfect. We brought home lots of food because we were stuffed wen finished. Can't wait till next trip ot Catch.
I had not been to The Catch in a couple years. I used to recommend it to out of town visitors. I will not be doing that. We both ordered the crab cakes - the were possibly the worst I’ve had - I swear it was like they had been cooked in advance and microwaved for serving. The sauce was tasteless. Overall it’s an ok place - the location and interior has always only been ok but the food made up for it. Maybe it was the holiday weekend crew in the kitchen. I’ll try again - in a couple years.
I finally made it to Catch Restaurant in Wilmington! This restaurant consistently is booked, but I was able to snag a reservation for November 24. I feasted on Dirty South oysters as an appetizer. Mom and I shared the seafood platter which was simply perfection. For dessert, Mom had the molten chocolate bundt cake and I had pumpkin cream brûlée. All of the dishes were absolutely amazing!
The service and staff were absolutely exceptional! Chef Keith Rhodes is a culinary genius! Don't miss an opportunity to dine at this restaurant.
Overall, great experience with excellent quality. Intensive flavor. Their signature sweet potato salad was great but the spinach wasn’t as fresh as it should have been. My partner had the most amazing fresh soft shell crabs from a local purveyor. My Drunken Lobster was beautifully presented but was too sweet for my taste. Oyster appetizer was very good. Nice wine selection .Would go back again!
We had to help the hostess find our reservation on her computer screen. Meager selection of liquors and spirits. If you love all varieties of shell fish...you'll be happy...but otherwise a very limited menu. Service was slow...seemed distracted and almost inattentive although there was not (yet) a full house. Pre-meal bread (which was quite tasty) did not come out until just before the entrees arrived...which took some time. Things might have been better had we dined at the bar, but it was relatively small with all seats taken at 7:30 pm.
Weird ambiance in dining room, bar was beautiful though. We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was delicious. We had the diver scallops with mussels. The sweet potatoes and sauce we're delicious. The mussels and scallops we're cooked well but were incredibly salty. For the price, it seems to risky to go back.
Our trip to Catch-Modern Seafood Cuisine was very nice once again. We make it here at least once a month and have never been disappointed in the food or service provided. I had a cold beer with my fresh oysters on the half shell to start the meal and followed with a one and a half pound lobster tail on mashed potato puree with asparagus tips. My wife had a glass of Chardonnay with her spare ribs with shrimp topping. The meal was wonderful as usual and Keith Rhodes and his staff proved once again why they win awards.
