$157 meal before tip & all meals were over cooked: NY Strip, Salmon and Swordfish
We were really excited about dining at Catch for our 1st wedding anniversary. I had read so many great reviews and had high hopes. First, the atmosphere was much more casual than I expected and than the food made it out to be. We were seated by the hostess, who also brought us our bread, drinks, and food. Also, when we did receive our food, it was cold. Our "waitress" walked by us numerous times without acknowledging us. The whole restaurant had maybe 15 tables total, with maybe 10 occupied, and at least 5 servers working, however the service was extremely slow. They also had several items on the menu that were not available, unfortunately one was what my husband was wanting to order. However, they did give us a free dessert for our anniversary, which we greatly appreciated! Overall, the food was good, but nothing extravagant. We had much better seafood and experiences elsewhere in Wilmington. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Catch unless you are wanting sub par seafood and service at an elaborate price.
An excellent meal. This chef knows what he is doing. And our server, Sutherlin, was fantastic. So far our best restaurant since moving to Wilmington from Virginia, 16 months ago.
We will go there again many times.
Absolutely delicious every time!
Innovative and inventive. A restaurant worthy of a big city. Casual ambiance with refined food. We (4) loved every bite from appetizer to dessert, including the bred and the amazing dipping oil. We finally found a restaurant in our new home town where we can take our fellow foodie visiting friends.
Fantastic restaurant serving a creative menu with a flair and deserving of all the many awards and recognitions it has received. One of the best meals to be found in the area and we'll worth the drive from anywhere in the region. Great food and attentive and knowledgeable service...this one has earned its 5 star rating ++!!
We were vacationing in the area and based on the website and reviews we were expecting an upscale dining experience. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and the decor looks like a low budget fish house. We reviewed the menu online and had identified a few dishes that sounded appetizing. however when we arrived a large portion of the menu was unavailable or different than the website. They offered to replace the salmon dish I ordered with mahi since they were out of salmon. The dish was a little salty but edible and I finished most of it since I was quite hungry but I suspect that the mahi was not fresh as they claimed. It looked like the cryovac mahi that most restaurants keep on hand. My husband had a hard time finding a dish that was appealing to him and ended up going with a fried fish platter that he has had better exectuted in more casual places. He didn’t eat most of it. The service was the only redeeming part of the experience. Our waitress tried her best to make our dinner nice and even brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. It was one of those chocolate lava cakes that many restaurants keep on hand that just need to be warmed up. Well whoever warmed our cake up left it in (the microwave??) for too long because it was completely dried out inside but it at least had fresh whipped cream on top. My husband has worked in the cooking industry for almost 30 years so we are generally very understanding and forgiving when we dine out. We also don’t mind paying a lot for good food. I wouldn’t say this place is expensive but for what they offer it is over priced. Even my drink was $14 and it was just a simple sangria with St. Germaine which I could barely taste. My drink, a beer, and two entrees came out to $80 before the tip. We generally spend more going out to a nice place but considering we didn’t order any appetizers, the food was mediocre, and the ambiance was very casual, it seems overpriced.
Food was amazing!! Our party of four all ordered something different from the menu and it was all delicious. Will definitely be returning when in town again.
Food was delicious. Friendliness from most of the staff was an opportunity.
Food was good. We're from out of town and typical beach vacation at Ocean city, MD and have several favorite seafood restaurants. We also have gluten sensitivity ; while mentioning this the waitress offered to try to accommodate but a food truck delivery was very delayed and used as an excuse for not being able to be more accommodating. Wife received a salad with a salmon filet on the side. My Mahi Mahi was good but neither overly impressed us. Slow to receive entres and did not order appetizers. Not sure we'd dine again
Fantastic food and service
The selection of background music really enhanced the dining experience. We traveled from Durham and think Catch rivals any dining experience we have had here. The buttermilk soft shell crab was outstanding!
In a shopping center on motor mile...a lot to be desired. Cold and cheap decor, paneling...had to ask why others got the kimchi and not us
Well, Catch certainly lived up to it's reputation! Went for my birthday, and have never before been greeted with Happy Birthday at a restaurant. Wait staff, Jessica and Elissa were fantastic. Gave us ice to keep our leftovers cool later, as we went to a movie afterward. Food? Wow, just lovely. Shared the Calamari appetizer, YUM! I had salmon on drunken noodles and my husband had drunken noodles with tempura shrimp. Both excellent. Had the Caesar salads, loved those also. Altogether a lovely experience we will repeat, hopefully soon.
A true gem from the olive oil dip(about the best I have ever had) before dinner through the entree and including the wine list...there is no wonder that it is #1 in Wilmington!
We absolutely loved our meal at Catch. The oysters were fresh and divine, and the pesto served with the bread was so good that we asked our server for the recipe - and she gave it to us! (We came home and made it for salmon the next day and it was amazing.) The tempura lobster with mashed potatoes and bisque "gravy" were delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. When we are next in Wilmington, we will happily go back.
The food was out of this world. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 stars is that the waiter forgot our salads. We had the grouper, lobster, mahi mahi special and the salmon. Each fish was perfectly prepared with unique spices and sauces. We loved it so much we are going back next week!
LOVED all 3 appetizers. Very innovative and fun cocktails. All 5 of us enjoyed our entrees, but they were not as good as the appetizers. Overall wonderful experience.
Very creative presentations. Wait staff was very helpful and attentive. Original menu items that you won’t find elsewhere.
We had a fantastic time and the food was AMAZING. We were celebrating a birthday and they made us feel very special with a special gift—dessert and a gift card for the restaurant! WOW! We did not expect that and we are so appreciate!
Excellent, creative cuisine.
Only downside, the service felt 'rush' as if the water had to much to do... Did not take the adequate time to answer our questions.
We arrived to the restaurant after traveling into town from out of state. They were able to seat us ahead of our reservation time. Everyone from the hostess to our server was attentive, helpful, and kind. The food was OUTSTANDING. We loved every item that was brought to the table: the bread served with delicious, fragrant, and fresh pesto, awesomely good sweet pickles, fried oysters that melt in your mouth, firecracker shrimp like none other you've had before, a beautifully presented lobster special with fried rice, and a blackened swordfish cooked to perfection on a pillow of yummy mashed sweet potato. The sangria was wonderful and the thai gimlet was as well. It was a perfect finish after a long ride. We highly recommend Catch to anyone and will absolutely be back!
Delicious! Incredible service.
Always a pleasure to eat here and family run by a great family
Did not disappoint this first-timer. Our waiter was very nice and courteous, and the food was amazing!
The restaurant was a little hard to find as it’s situated in an unassuming strip mall. We were looking forward to our dining experience as we had read the reviews on line.
The restaurant was a little dated and the seated us near the restrooms! The noise level was s but high for quiet conversation. That being said, the service was very good and the lobster tempura our of this world! Kudos to the chef.
We went to Catch after reading the many great reviews. We were not disappointed. I can't wait to return. Don't let the unassuming shopping center exterior put you off. This is a first rate restaurant. The service was excellent. Wonderful, creative cocktails. Delicious appetizers. Entrees were so good...ample portions, beautiful plating, delicious. The best food in Wilmington by a long shot.
This was our first visit to Catch. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The service was GREAT but the food....ahhh the food- Fresh, delicious, perfection!!
More on the $ side but worth every bit. My husband said he can honestly say this has been the best find since we have relocated.
We HIGHLY recommend Catch and we will return, No Doubt.
Food was amazing as always! One of my fave place to take all of my visiting friends and family.
So far, the best seafood in Wilmington. We had an all crab dinner; blue crab claws in a wonderful broth, 2 large soft shell crabs (a bit too much breading for me but still good) and crab cakes. The only downside is they were out of Key Lime pie. We'll definitely go back.
Delicious meal and excellent wait staff! Excellent evening out.
Kimchi cabbage amuse-bouche. Charred bread with fresh pesto. Herbs homegrown. Drunken lobster with Thai basil rice. Crab cakes with sea island pea succotash. Coconut creme broker. Key lime pie. This was our meal. Chef and his daughter (pastry chef) are amazing. Deliciousness in every bite.
Love the Catch. Keith Rhodes is a awesome chef featuring local ingredients. I am always impressed with the entries. I had the soft shell crab pictured. Delicious!!!
The meal I had was absolutely phenomenal! I had followed Chef Rhodes on Top Chef and was very excited to try his restaurant. Servers were very attentive and my cocktail which was a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was on point. I highly recommend this restaurant the seafood is amazing.
Excellent service, outstanding meal with great presentation
Food was excellent. Unfortunate that we dined at the same time as a wine pairing event. Noise level was beyond energetic.
Don't let the exterior fool you. Fantastic service, fantastic food in a comfortable and inviting environment. I would go back in a heartbeat and If I lived locally, I would make it a regular visit. I will be back. You will not be disappointed by the food!
Food s always special. Menu changes daily . Crab cakes are superb.
One of our favorite places. The food and service were exceptional.
