Catch Bar & Grill - Marriott - Biscayne Bay - Miami Ratings and Reviews
This as a highly disappointing experience. We made a reservation for 3 pm, but when we arrived there was no host to greet or seat us. There was no one at that station the whole time we were at the restaurant, in fact. We were there for 10 minutes before we got menus and a server. When our server took our orders, she did not write them down. Five minutes later, she had to come back and ask us each what we ordered again, still never writing it down. It took a total of 50 minutes for the 5 of us to get food, with the majority of the orders being appetizers. When the food came out, some orders were incorrect and others were missing their sides and accompaniments. By this time, we were already late returning to our conference at the nearby arena, and still had to wait and continually ask for our server to return to refill water and bring out checks, and then to bring our change. We truly regret choosing this restaurant on our visit to Miami.
I ordered the shrimp skewers and was VERY disappointed. 8 tiny shrimp and glorified mac and cheese for $26. What a joke. It was a decent tasting meal but nothing special and WAY over priced. I also ordered a strawberry Mojito and I am pretty sure they skipped the alcohol. So in the end I hate about have of my mediocre food and left feeling very unsatisfied for a nice hefty $50 bill. I did not complain and realize I should have. So disappointed and I will not recommend the restaurant.
Went for Mothers Day. Overall was pretty good. Location is great and restaurant has a nice view. The restaurant looks new and attracted a good crowd. However, food was just ok and a bit overpriced. Skirt steak was overcooked and didn't have great flavor. Kids french toast was tuff. Breakfast buffet was worth it. Probably won't return unless I'm in the area and want to try their lunch or staying in the hotel.
Made a reservation on open table for 730 we arrived at 740 because traffic was insane. Host told us he wasnt aware of the reservation and got the manager. We waited like 5 mins and then got sat. Beautiful ambiance.
Waiter seemed to be only waiter working & took awhile to get to table and and take orders. I ordered the corn of week and he never told me they were out until food came out . Just all in all took awhile
Slow, Forgetful and Bland
For a pre-theater dinner we booked at the Catch Bar & Grill. While not a particularly busy night the bar/restaurant was at a fairly high noise volume, making it fairly difficult to converse across a small table which was already in the rear far from the front bar . Several requests to our waitress were either ignored or forgotten, and when added to delivery of the wrong dish (one out of four ) it seemed the waitress was more intent on serving a larger party across the room. While the dishes we ordered were at best satisfying a hunger, there were no memorable taste or presentations to note. Our selections were all in the fish category, but really could have been interchangeable for the lack of flavor differentiation. As it was a rather late decision to dine downtown on a Friday evening our usual haunts were already booked. Its unlikely we'll return to this Marriott restaurant unless its for a drink on the harbor veranda, which is does have an exquisite view out on the bay. For a social drink, and perhaps a burger, this is a great casual stop if attending the Arsht or an afternoon or evening performance.
Food was above average, service was OK as long as you keep an eye on the waiter, who tends to disappear.
Overall good fare for a hotel lobby restaurant, but not a unique experience.
A good place to dine for a group when no one can agree on where to eat. Five minute walk to the Arsht Theatre makes it a convenient pre-show location & free valet
The staff and bartenders are very good. We had two breakfast buffets that were great with a lot of choices, omelette - waffle station. You can sit out by the dock and bay. We loved the Cuban sandwich, nachos, grouper strips and fine were the guacamole, fish dip and hamburger
The food was rather disappointing. Ordered salt and pepper calamari and crab cakes and a mojito - the calamari were too oily and bottom half of the bowl filled with crumbs. Crab cakes ok but not wow. Both sauces served with the orders - yuk, no no!!
Music too loud or maybe I booked the wrong time, crowded at the entrance with a lot of people standing and drinking. Not a good experience really.
Friendly Waitress tho.
Very slow service for dinner. Breakfast service was better. Gentleman we had as a server was not very friendly. Acted annoyed at our requests and we had to search for him for our drink delivery. Dinner service team had more fun socializing with each other than taking care of customers. Very frustrating. But breakfast service was complete opposite. Attentive and friendly. Great buffet.
Overall, we had a nice dining experience. The biggest problem was getting seated. I had made a reservation through Open Table. A representative from the restaurant called to confirm. A day or 2 before the event, I called and confirmed my reservation. When we arrived, it appeared that the hostess did not have a separate log for reservations. She added our name to the regular wait list. Needless to say, we had to wait as though we did not have a reservation. That was upsetting. Also, I would have preferred to have been seated outside, but that option wasn't given and to avoid having to wait any longer, I did not bother to ask to be seated elsewhere.
