Catch 35 - Naperville Ratings and Reviews
Catch 35 is one of my 11 year old daughter's favorite places to eat.
The restaurant is comfortable, not too noisy, has consistently prepared food and the staff is generally excellent.
However, the food is ordinary. Not saying it is not worth eating, but it does not meet our rule standard. That rule is that we try not to eat out anywhere that serves food we can make ourselves. We have made the same dishes at home with about the same quality outcome.
We come here for the atmosphere, as a destination when we're strolling Naperville, and for the consistent quality. If prices were a smidge lower we would eat here more often, as a nice place to have dinner more than as an upscale dining experience.
Overall we like it, we'll be back, just not that often.
It was my birthday so I wanted to go back to the place I remembered having excellent seafood. Catch 35 was that place. The martinis I had were impeccable and from the appetizers to the dinners, we were pleased. Although I live in Chicago, I wanted to drive back to the first one I eaten at before. Live music would be an plus.
Thanks to to excellent staff and very informative waiter, my birthday was perfect.❤️
The overall experience is average. The one thing that really disappointed me was the service by the people up front. My wife and I had a clear reservation for 7pm dinner. We checked in the front hostess and told us our table would be ready shortly. My wife and I noticed that they started seating other people ahead of us that didn’t have any reservations. After waiting for about 20 minutes I proceeded to ask why we were not seated. The hostess simply replied that they had forgotten. This was very upsetting to me because we clearly had a reservation and they could not even apologize on the customer service mistake. I believe that management in this restaurant should do more training to avoid customer service mistakes like what my wife and I experienced during our dinner. Most likely would not return to this restaurant due to this bad experience.
They had a number of large parties going on in the main dinng area. I was there on a date where I was hoping to have a nice meal and quiet conversation. It was way too loud and was not enjoyable. Food was good, atmosphere was terrible. Too expensive for this. Should have gone to red lobster
We have dined here many times. New Year's Eve 7:45pm reservations. Arrived early, 30 min wait grabbed a drink at the bar, no big deal. Surprisingly restaurant was empty, confirmed there were numerous cancellations. Staffed accordingly to handle. After being seated, looked over the menu. We wanted to order their "Special" appetizer seafood platter. However it serves 4-6 people $85. Asked our waiter if they could accommodate by making a smaller size since it was just my wife and I. Chef refused! Really, he may be in the wrong business or consider a different occupation. Our waiter was extremely nice, I was not the first to ask. The Oyster Rockefeller was good. Entrees: Newburg Seafood skillet the salmon was overcooked. Lamb Chops $34 (2 Small Appetizer Sz) plus upcharge for a baked potato. Dessert: Carrot cake bread pudding was recommended. Couldn't eat "Hard" left untouched. Difficult getting a refill of coffee. Extremely Expensive meal. Truly disappointing experience. Reached out talked to a Mgr, apology accepted.
Disappointed no changes to menu could be made for dietary restrictions. Asked for gluten free bread, was told, "Sorry, we just ran out." 3 people at the table couldn't eat the bread. One person at the table was vegan. We asked if different dishes could be made with oil instead of butter. Answer, "no, food is already made in big batches." Not enough options for people allergic to dairy. Server offered no suggestions. Will stick with Meson Sabika. They adjust their menu for almost any food allergy or restriction. This restaurant needs to get with the program. Less people are eating dairy, meat, or gluten.
We were quite pleased with our lunch. The restaurant was very quiet, so we were able to talk at length. Our grilled salmon, accompanied by red skilled potatoes and broccoli, was scrumptious with its cucumber sauce ( always ask for extra sauce). The broccoli was just tender, not overcooked. Oddly, the potatoes tasted slightly spicy: neither of us liked that. The freshly baked bread was very tasty, as usual. Our server was super friendly, but slow.
Not a good experience. Food was below average, some ingredients were not fresh. We mentioned it to the waiter and he didn’t do anything. Even my cocktail was not good and the waiter did nothing to replace it. There was not a manager checking on our experience. Definitely I’m taking this restaurant off my list.
Our experience at Catch 35 was very good (Chilean sea bass was outstanding but scallops were mediocre). Being seated near the door on a very cold night meant we had a blast of cold air every tine thw door opened. The atmosphere was festive and fun. Would revisit for a special occasion.
Very good seafood experience. All dishes at the table of 5 were excellent. I had the Haddock it was very good. Nice Oyster selection. Service and ambiance very good as well. As mentioned in a prior review of the other downtown Naperville Seafood restaurant, this is where I will be going when looking for good seafood.
Our lunch was quite good as always. Everyone was pleased with each selection. The grilled salmon with cucumber sauce was tasty; always request additional sauce when placing your order or else there will barely be any. The whitefish was requested blackened and was pronounced delicious! The blackened fish tacos were thoroughly enjoyed, as usual. And the freshly baked bread was yummy; remember that you must actually request the bread. They should really just bring it!
Service was nowhere near as good as usual, unfortunately. The server forgot my beverage altogether. And my request for extra cucumber sauce was forgotten as well: I just reminded the person who brought our meals to please bring it. The server also forgot something else...
The dinner was excellent. Our wait person could have been a little more attentive. The assistant who clears the table even provided reading glasses for my wife; he was very attentive. Other than the confusion as to whether we honored our reservation, we had fine evening.
Well... we had a reservation at 7:45 pm and got the table at 8:30!!! The management ( of site) sucks! Our server Emilio was great, but the kitchen run out of our favorite dishes before we had a chance to order it. Same with the drinks! I ordered Dragonfly martini and they run of of the ingredients for the second one. The food was good, but I’m not coming back. For the price they charge the place sucks! Sorry to say it, but I would not recommend it to anyone .
