Catch 35 - Chicago Ratings and Reviews
I took my 15 year old granddaughter to Catch 35 for a pre-theatre "fancy" dinner. She was dressed to the nines and she was treated like a princess by the staff! We had a wonderful dinner, great food, reasonably priced and as my granddaughter said - it was "the best food she's ever had!" Thanks so much for making our evening so memorable!
We had tickets to a show at the Cadillac Palace. Traffic was very slow coming into the city, so we were later than we would have liked. Our server, Sheila, was accommodating with getting our orders in promptly. Her recommendations were spot on and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the experience (as we did, also).
The Chilean sea bass is the best sea bass I have tried and sea bass is the best fish I have ever eaten. That said I experimented with a seafood Newburg dish this time and was very pleased. If you are downtown and want excellent seafood Catch 35 consistently impressed me.
Even though we had a reservation for the dining room, the bar area was so enticing that we chose to dine there instead. The live jazz music just added greatly to the ambience. The music and acoustics were fantastic. The sound was not so loud that you couldn't enjoy conversation at the table. We had a great time!
Made reservations for my husband's birthday dinner for Saturday Feb. 10th. We were seated immediately, which was amazing. Ordered minutes later and our food arrived within 20 minutes. We never saw our waiter again. We sat, meal finished, drinks finished, table already bused and we were never approached if we wished for another drink or even dessert. I had to call for our waiter, who by the way could be seen in the back sitting around. Was it busy.... no!!! There was no excuse for us to be ignored. We went somewhere else for a night cap and a birthday dessert. Very Disappointed!!!!
The sea bass was delicious! My friend ordered the crab cake and it was not good and her coffee tasted old. Service was a little slow. I ordered an uber to go to the show not realizing there was a tax stand out front. Not a big deal but the parking guy kept bothering us about taking a
The food was just ok. The salmon was about a 3oz portion, so very small. Since it was restaurant week and you received soup and dessert as well, i guess the value was somewhat ok. Would not choose to go there again. Too bad, because I love good seafood restaurants. The worst thing about the experience was the waiter. The waiter was rude and made incendiary remarks (as a matter of fact if I had been alone, I would have gotten up and walked out), and I felt like not tipping, but hey, I did anyway.
So the value was not there.
Christian, Manager, was Awesome, Extraordinary and Attentive to my dining experience, especially when he was informed by the Hostess that I wanted another Waiter to wait on me instead of the Pony Tail Waiter whom I experienced horrible service when I was there a week prior on Friday ( However, Emmanuel, who turns down and set up tables, exceeded by being attentive to my friend and I, plus other tables to ensure Customer Service that the Pony Tail Waiter lacked incredibly.), and I didn't want to go through another unbearable experience again.
Hats off to Christian for stepping in and making another Huge, Phenomomial Impact on my dining experience that I genuinely cherish and embrace whole heartedly!
Definitely, I will be back! Besides, it's one of many of my favorite restaurant!
Have an Awesome day!
Thanks for a lunch to remember!
I would not recommend in the future. Service was rushed - before we finished dessert they had brought the check -- this is not acceptable in a restaurant touted as 'fine dining'!! Food was acceptable, however I have had better salmon at Neiman-Marcus Mariposa!! I would suggest that restaurant management do a better job of training their wait staff as well as their reception staff!!
