Great food and service!
Enjoyed the food & service
I was there for a Birthday dinner, I loved the ambience, the Jazz was great and the dinner was excellent, not to mention the staff was very welcoming. Will definitely return.
Delicious fish. Chilean Sea Bass was a hit and the bisque is a great addition to a meal.
Our server was mediocre at best. Food was good. Atmosphere was good. He didn’t fit the place at all.
Restaurant is beautiful, the food and drinks where outstanding . The waiter was excellent made sure to always check if we needed anything.
The restaurant was very nice, food was ok. Would've preferred a larger selection of items on the menu.
The food was outstanding! The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable and, since our table was not quite ready, the staff seated us in a private room! Highly recommended!
Had a terrific meal. The Sea Bass is 7oz - so Mom and I split the meal. We each ordered a salad - the Martha's vineyard and the Kale - and we shared a dessert. Everything was exceptional. The waitress asked if we were going to a show - and we were - we were done in plenty of time. The restaurant is conveniently located next to a hotel - there is a line of cabs readily available.
I always enjoy eating here. The menu is fantastic and the bar staff really know what they’re doing.
The restaurant is long and narrow, why did the host walk us all the way through the restaurant to a very DARK table at the back?Plenty of tables and we had reservations. When we got our menus I couldn’t read mine, I had to get out the light on my iPhone. Turns out the light bulb above us had burnt out. Our waiter saw that and said, “oh yeah, I guess the light it out.” And walked away... what the hell? So we are pretty much in the dark aside from the candle at our table. As we were leaving we got to look at all the nice food other diners were enjoying at their well lit tables. The food was decent, but I was so turned off by the curt, indifferent service by our server, it made it hard to enjoy the meal. Once again I had to pull out the iPhone light to sign the credit card receipt.
Too many good restaurants in Chicago, I won’t be returning to Catch 35.
Birthday visit for two
Husbands birthday, loves seafood. Best waiter incredible food. But they sat someone before who did not have reservations and we did. They gave them the booth and we got stuck by an exit door. I had to sit through our whole meal with my jacket on. Was not happy with front desk service but food service our waiter was incredible. I guess I would go again only because of the waiter.
Haven't been there in awhile, but hit the mark as always!
Good place to go in Chicago. Good food and close to most things in downtown Chicago.
Had not been to this restaurant for a while because of inconsistent service and food, but was pleasantly surprised this time. Food was served hot. The fish and vegetables were perfectly prepared. Nice wine list.
The Prixe Fixe menu has not changed in so long................. Food is good. Restaurant did not have "the crowd" after the theater that is usually has. Maybe look at having some new menu items?
The food and service were excellent. The price was a bit more than we normally pay, but it is consistent other restaurants that have the same cuisine. The decor is dated and seems like it hasn't changed since it opened in the 90's. That said, it didn't show wear and was clean. I liked the live music.
Our whole experience was a surprise and wonderful. Probably hadn't been there for 30 years. Our server was terrific, and very helpful. Food was great and very affordable. And the theater parking was frosting on the cake. What a deal! Karen
Perfectly prepared seafood
Only negative is when my date asked what a good fish was, he suggested to most expensive fish in the menu!!!!!
Really ticked me off.
I've been to Catch35 5 or 6 times previously and have always enjoyed the entire experience. Seated at the bar with live music is a great place for a drink, and food and service top notch. That's why I keep going back. But this last experience was not great. Writing negative reviews is not what I enjoy doing, but this is a recount of my last trip there. After being seated, our waiter appeared and asked if we would like drinks, having never told us his name. Drinks were fine. Baguette on the table was excellent. Ordered calamari which quite good and was fried, served with tofu on kebab sticks. Took waiter over 10 minutes to open our bottle of wine after its delivery to our table. Wife ordered the 4oz salmon with shrimp. Four shrimp served with an anemic and overcooked piece of salmon. I had the yellowfin tuna sashimi which was seared with sesame seeds very nicely, and was a delightful filet, but was served like it had just been removed from the refrigerator, cold (like refrigerated cold). When I sear tuna its room temperature in the middle. I'm thinking precooked, plated later. No-one bats 1.000, I just hope it's not a trend.
We were very late for our reservation. They were gracious and accommodating. Food selection was impressive. My husband loved the bread - reminded him of European bread. We started with salads - mixed and wedge. Both delicious. We both had the Chef's Special - grilled salmon, shrimp and asparagus served with mashed potatoes. Excellent. Service was so fast but we never felt hurried. Will be going back!
The food and service were both outstanding. I had the 18 oz. Bone In Ribeye which came out just as ordered. My wife had the fried shrimp platter which she said was great. We both had the shrimp-lobster bisque which was some of the best I have had as was the Oysters Rockefeller we had as an appetizer. Would whole heartedly recommend !!!
Food was great, service was great. Sheila was awesome. Loved the wine too!
Cant wait to come back soon.
The service was spot on from valet, to hostess to the table service. Wish we had time to stay for the jazz band. Beautiful place.
Fantastic restaurant, delicious food, great service and will return again and again!
Ambiance, amazing! Lobster and Shrimp bisque, fantastic! Chocolate lava cake, wonderful! Will be back!
Our dinner at Catch 35 was excellent. Our server was great, great sense of humor. He asked if we were going to the theatre (concert, actually) and he paced the meal perfectly. We didn't feel rushed, but had time to get to the venue. The haddock special was delicious.
Had the prefix meal and it was wonderful. I had the Cod and my husband had the Filet Medallions. The fish was beautifully cooked. Flaked apart and was moist and perfect. Filet was cooked to perfection too. Serving size was good. Our server was attentive and helpful. Highly recommend this place. We went at 5 pm Friday night before a concert. Would come back here in a heartbeat.
Their seafoood and fish never fail to impress. Such fresh ingredients and creative preparation result in wonderful deliciousness. Thanks for a great meal!
Found this restaurant and they had a Fix Price menu that was perfect and actually too much food, we had left-overs the next day. Superb service. Would highly recommend.
Food tasted great at the start, and service was good, but we unfortunately had two of our party that ate the seafood sampler get sick that night. Had eaten there about 3 years ago and the same thing had happened with a trout meal. I had hoped that was an isolated incident but after 2 occasions now won’t be back. Too bad because the atmosphere is good but can’t risk a client getting sick.
Fantastic food! Our waitress was incredibly attentive and anticipated our needs without being pushy. Loved the atmosphere and the drinks were on point. Thank you!
Incredible meal! Had the Caesar salad which was the best one I’ve had in a long time, filet medallions and carrot cake bread pudding. Everything was delicious!
First time visit but certainly not our last. Excellent everything
Food was not great except oysters, server was ok, but had a lot of tables to serve and was running like crazy. I guess this restaurant is ok if no other seafood restaurants available downtown area.
I really appreciated how our waiter was already aware of the allergies and vegetarian options that the chef would be willing to prepare. It was an incredible experience. Our service was impeccable. The food was incredible. Great Place 5 Stars!
The ambiance was nice and the service was excellent, but the food left a lot to be desired. Some things were overly salted (our fries were nearly inedible) while others lacked salt/seasoning (octopus, mashed potatoes). I asked for my filet mignon well done and it was undercooked and bloody. Meh.
