The food was good - the waiter said at the get go that it's meant to be shared "tapas style". That's not exactly the way I'd describe it. The dishes aren't huge, and they are cut up to be shared, but they're a long way away from tapas. Nonetheless, everything we tasted was expertly done, from the bread and the charcuterie board to the beef cheek and duck leg.
One personal note - I wish there were a few more vegetarian options, just because I'd rather not eat so much meat.
Always a great meal and friendly and engaging service!
The catch madame had this yummy surprise ingredient: apricot jam! With the gooey cheese, brown mustard, thick slice ham and crusty bread.... it was delicious!
Tip —The wait on a Friday at 11am didn’t seem that long for those waiting but definitely do make reservations if you can.
Fantastic service. Sunchoke salad made vegetarian with Hallume cheese was amazing!
We came into catch 122 for brunch and we were expecting to be great, as usual. Unfortunately there were a few misses on this occasion - I had ordered the feature of the day which was a porchetta dish. I was super excited and when the dish came it tasted amazing! After a few bites I bit into a couple hairs in the porchetta and let our server know. Their immediate reaction was “that’s gross”, which it was and that was all they said. He offered to get another, but at that point I was too grossed out to keep eating. He took the dish away and when we brought the bill he took half the charge of the porchetta off. Which to be honest, is not totally fair as I had 3/4 bites. Also as someone that works within the service and restaurant industry, this is definitely a situation where a member of the team should have come over to apologize about the incident and a guest should not be charged for such a misstep. The rest of my party enjoyed their food and that’s why the review isn’t lower.
Really fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. The octopus, fried chicken and salads were very unique and incredibly good. The service was fantastic as well
Everything was Fantastic. Asked for something special and they were very accommodating. Well worth the price. Menu changes every few weeks. We will be back!!
I went to Cafe 122 with a few girlfriends for dinner and drinks after work. Food & drinks were great and the server was very helpful and accomodating. I hear the brunch is good, so i'll be back to try that next!
Great meal. Dishes we creative, beautifully presented with wonderfully delicate flavors. Fun vibe and extensive drink menu too.
We had a reservation for a birthday brunch on a (non-holiday) Thursday morning and though they made a mistake with our order, the food was quite good. The service was adequate as well, but the wait times for (1) placing our order (2) receiving our food and (3) getting our bill took a crazy amount of time. Ultimately, our first visit wasn't the best.
Went for a double-date on Valentine's Day. Set menu was fine and reasonably priced. Staff and restaurant are clearly trained and prepared for Saturday brunch. Felt like eating casual bistro style food in a Denny's. The front of house staff and dining room need a serious upgrade.
Excellent food. The shcnitzle and the waygu sirloin were particularly good.
Was sitting at the table for 15 minutes and no one came to serve us. When they did, they didn’t acknowledge that no one came to serve us. It was Valentine’s Day however they weren’t very better
The restaurant was not busy, by 830pm we were the only table. Drinks were very slow and inconsistent in quality - some were excellent, some mediocre at best (dark & stormy rum and coke ish) Share plates inconsistent as well: chicken was the stand out crispy, very well seasoned and interesting tastes - tuna no seasoning bland, needed wasabi garlic something, beef cheeks same nothing social, least value duck breat - not a share plate but apparently an entree not worth the price and very bland. The waiter was nice but very new and his timing was awful. We wont go again.
Salmon Benny was delicious! They gave bigger portions this time and we really enjoyed hanging out in this space! Great service too.
Great location. Fun and Friendly service. Fantastic food.
Waited over 45mins for food to arrive. No apology, no explanation. Did not try to remedy the situation. Not impressed.
Had a birthday dinner at Catch on a Saturday evening for Dine Out Vancouver and it was a great decision. All options on their Dine Out menu were something I would order, and at the table we shared everything because it was all so tastey. I've been there before for brunch and was not disappointed. Great, attentive staff and the ambiance and feel of the place is awesome. Cool cocktail menu as well! 12/10 would recommend.
Great food following an all day board meeting!
Went as part of Dine Out and was very impressed with the menu. Food was delicious as we're the drinks. Would definitely go again.
Food is outstanding but portions are small and expensive.
Value for money. Overall all the dishes are well presented and the taste is great. Service is also good. The location is spacious and relaxed.
We went for Dine Out Vancouver and had a great experience from the moment we walked into the door, where instead of a typical crammed loud environment, the staff had provided a cozy environment where you could feel like the entire restaurant was just for you. The food was elegant and delicious, and the cocktails were heavenly. We were even give great tips along the way to better enjoy or dining experience.
Catch 122 is not simply food you order on a menu, but it's an experience. A delightful one at that!
I went for a dine out menu, they will surpise you for sure. Love it!
Very limited Dine-Out menu. No seafood entree. Good sturgeon hotdog, but a disappointment on the whole.
Came for Dine Out Vancouver and will definitely be returning in the future
Came here for the dine out festival. The sturgeon hot dog was okay, the vegetable root tart was mostly pastry than vegetables. It wasn't that busy, yet the staff still seemed quite unattentive. The candle on our table was not lit the whole night and it was very obvious each time they visited our table, but nobody bothered to light it. Our water glasses were never filled until asked to. The lamb neck I had was so overly salted I just couldn't finish it...
We went there for dine out. Food was very good. I really liked the sturgeon hotdog and the pork croquette. Service was good as well. Overall a positive experience.
Food was good for the value. Service was kinda slow when we wanted to pay our bills.
Great food excellent service will go back again
We had 8 of us before the theatre. They took good care of us and made sure we got what we needed. The food was delicious, tapas style small plates mostly, and a great mix of flavours.
The charming atmosphere complimented the delicious food wonderfully. I was warned that it can get busy and hence went at 9am, resulting in a calm, moderately quiet place to eat. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here and can recommend the pudding french toast.
I would not recommend this place for a lunch break. Even though I had made a reservation, it took us 10 minutes to get our order taken down, and the food itself took nearly 30 minutes, which the server told us was normal. When the food did finally come, the portion sizes were so minuscule that I left very hungry afterwards. I will not be joining them for lunch again.
Lively inside. They've recently changed the menu, so what I hoped for from the online menu was no longer available. Gluten free options were limited, as were tapas, which are still "under renovation". I'd love to see the new menu online...
Very good and original meals. Was expecting to see bigger portions considering the price (reasonable for a good dinner) but the portions are like entrées. The rest is quite great.
I’m not a fan of their new menu - they’ve made their portions smaller making you choose salad or hash; I got hash but the potatoes were really dry and their poached eggs aren’t runny. I’m usually a huge fan of this place but today I was quite disappointed with the food.
I had never been to Catch 122 before, was pleasantly surprised when I dined there on a Saturday evening with the from out of town. The food was great, the smaller plates were good for sharing. I would love to return and try some of the full entree options.
Before booking the reservation for this restaurant, I checked on their website and they had happy hour specials for both food and drink. When I arrived and asked for the happy hour menu, I was informed that the happy hour menu on their website was no longer valid. I heard amazing things about the fried chicken so both my guest and myself ordered it. In total we ordered two fried chicken dishes and cocktails. One dish arrived and the other arrived 15 mins later. It was confusing as there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. The server did apologize but I would rather wait and have both dishes come out at the same time.
The fried chicken dish was $11 and it looked to be either one or one and a half boneless chicken thigh(s) cut up. On their website, the dish looks like it is two pieces of a chicken boneless thigh. For me, the value was not there and this was a very disappointing meal.
Everything was great! I came here to straight after a work meeting and came right before they closed for their afternoon break. The service was great - even though I had to order within 5 minutes and was requested to pay upfront, they were very generous by giving me free coffee with my meal. The salmon eggs Benedict was delicious and they didn’t rush me out of the restaurant even though they were closed. Since this place is right beside my new job and the price isn’t too expensive, I will definitely be returning in the future.
Generally we like the food and it's nearby the office, but this last experience was disappointing. The restaurant was either short-staffed or those serving were having a bad day. It was a weekday lunch hour. It took 40+ minutes to get our food, which came cold. One member of our group didn't get served until well after the other 5 of us. The restaurant usually has great potatoe sides with brunch, but portions were scant this time -- not many potatoes and a lot of fried crumbs. All in all, not a good experience, especially since we were celebrating a colleague's birthday (the one who got served last!).
