Catch 122 Cafe & Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation for a birthday brunch on a (non-holiday) Thursday morning and though they made a mistake with our order, the food was quite good. The service was adequate as well, but the wait times for (1) placing our order (2) receiving our food and (3) getting our bill took a crazy amount of time. Ultimately, our first visit wasn't the best.
Went for a double-date on Valentine's Day. Set menu was fine and reasonably priced. Staff and restaurant are clearly trained and prepared for Saturday brunch. Felt like eating casual bistro style food in a Denny's. The front of house staff and dining room need a serious upgrade.
The restaurant was not busy, by 830pm we were the only table. Drinks were very slow and inconsistent in quality - some were excellent, some mediocre at best (dark & stormy rum and coke ish) Share plates inconsistent as well: chicken was the stand out crispy, very well seasoned and interesting tastes - tuna no seasoning bland, needed wasabi garlic something, beef cheeks same nothing social, least value duck breat - not a share plate but apparently an entree not worth the price and very bland. The waiter was nice but very new and his timing was awful. We wont go again.
Had a birthday dinner at Catch on a Saturday evening for Dine Out Vancouver and it was a great decision. All options on their Dine Out menu were something I would order, and at the table we shared everything because it was all so tastey. I've been there before for brunch and was not disappointed. Great, attentive staff and the ambiance and feel of the place is awesome. Cool cocktail menu as well! 12/10 would recommend.
We went for Dine Out Vancouver and had a great experience from the moment we walked into the door, where instead of a typical crammed loud environment, the staff had provided a cozy environment where you could feel like the entire restaurant was just for you. The food was elegant and delicious, and the cocktails were heavenly. We were even give great tips along the way to better enjoy or dining experience.
Catch 122 is not simply food you order on a menu, but it's an experience. A delightful one at that!
Came here for the dine out festival. The sturgeon hot dog was okay, the vegetable root tart was mostly pastry than vegetables. It wasn't that busy, yet the staff still seemed quite unattentive. The candle on our table was not lit the whole night and it was very obvious each time they visited our table, but nobody bothered to light it. Our water glasses were never filled until asked to. The lamb neck I had was so overly salted I just couldn't finish it...
I would not recommend this place for a lunch break. Even though I had made a reservation, it took us 10 minutes to get our order taken down, and the food itself took nearly 30 minutes, which the server told us was normal. When the food did finally come, the portion sizes were so minuscule that I left very hungry afterwards. I will not be joining them for lunch again.
I’m not a fan of their new menu - they’ve made their portions smaller making you choose salad or hash; I got hash but the potatoes were really dry and their poached eggs aren’t runny. I’m usually a huge fan of this place but today I was quite disappointed with the food.
Before booking the reservation for this restaurant, I checked on their website and they had happy hour specials for both food and drink. When I arrived and asked for the happy hour menu, I was informed that the happy hour menu on their website was no longer valid. I heard amazing things about the fried chicken so both my guest and myself ordered it. In total we ordered two fried chicken dishes and cocktails. One dish arrived and the other arrived 15 mins later. It was confusing as there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. The server did apologize but I would rather wait and have both dishes come out at the same time.
The fried chicken dish was $11 and it looked to be either one or one and a half boneless chicken thigh(s) cut up. On their website, the dish looks like it is two pieces of a chicken boneless thigh. For me, the value was not there and this was a very disappointing meal.
Everything was great! I came here to straight after a work meeting and came right before they closed for their afternoon break. The service was great - even though I had to order within 5 minutes and was requested to pay upfront, they were very generous by giving me free coffee with my meal. The salmon eggs Benedict was delicious and they didn’t rush me out of the restaurant even though they were closed. Since this place is right beside my new job and the price isn’t too expensive, I will definitely be returning in the future.
Generally we like the food and it's nearby the office, but this last experience was disappointing. The restaurant was either short-staffed or those serving were having a bad day. It was a weekday lunch hour. It took 40+ minutes to get our food, which came cold. One member of our group didn't get served until well after the other 5 of us. The restaurant usually has great potatoe sides with brunch, but portions were scant this time -- not many potatoes and a lot of fried crumbs. All in all, not a good experience, especially since we were celebrating a colleague's birthday (the one who got served last!).
I've been here a few times for lunch/brunch and now once for dinner. 10/10 for food and service. Loved the duck dish - perfectly cooked and the vegetable pairings were delicious. The type of dish that sticks in your memory and makes you want to come back soon to get it again! Try a flight of 3 wines to pair with share plates for the table.
This is a great little restaurant. The only reason i didn't give it five stars is the lack of a wine selection. A few on tap but nothing worthy of the meal we had. Best Bread I've had in a long time. The menu is not long but it packs a punch. You could treat it like a traditional menu, like we did and start with greens (and bread) and order a large dish each or you could treat it like a tapas. it's a great place with a great menu, you probably need to be 25% adventurous eater for this menu. It's kind of funky, kind of hip, the music was noticeable and fun but never interfered with our conversation. The food was cooked perfectly, with a lot of flavors going on. I would definitely recommend.
